I am not about haggling down to the lowest cent, nor do I condemn those who pay more or less than me. I tend to offer a girl a number and if she accepts great, if she responds with a number reasonably close, great, if too much, I'm done, I hate haggling, just a personal opinion. This next trip, I am "wifing" up for 9 days / 8 nights and paying 1. 5 million pesos. I probably could have offered less and gotten away with it, but I really like the girl and the fact is I am going to have sex 3-4 times per day at a minimum, so I look at it like you did. (say 3 times per day * 9 days = 27, therefore I'm paying roughly 50k per session. I can live with that). Maybe they did negotiate. Maybe that is what made them comfortable. It clearly is not your preferred / normal price but that is what they paid. I agree with you, I would normally not pay that much either but I would be lying if I said I have never paid more than what I pay now after visiting almost 20 times. Hell, I would be lying if I said I didn't pay a little more then my "normal" when I was there a few months ago but I paid it because it made the event what I wanted it to be. We all have a comfort level of spending or doing things but it is relative to the person writing the report. I have seen reports here and thought "wow, that was way too much" or "I would have never did that" or even "they don't know what the f_ck they are talking about" but I refrain from commenting because I can't make them do what I do or have my same experience. I also refrain because I don't post much and in this type of forum that matters even if you have a point. Some of these trip reports or even future trip reports have guys making excuses or explaining things they did or won't do to keep others from posting a negative remark. Trip reports should be written and viewed with the idea that one's own experience may be very different and they are very subjective. Hopefully the knowledge from your comment that someone is getting the same thing for less will give him one more card to play if he chooses to in his future negotiations.

Thanks.[/QUOTE]The fake Colombian bills I have been passed have all been printed on a cheaper quality paper that is easily distinguishable by feeling it. Check for a good clear watermark. Check for deep rich colors and textures on the actual bill and last but not least, look for the shiny silver stripes on the back that cannot be copied. Fake bills are usually passed to the victim as change from a taxi or small store or more at a club or disco when your tipsy, dark and your guard is lowered. Sometimes / most of the time they themselves have had the bills passed on to them and are trying to get rid of them themselves.

I only had it happen to me once a few years ago. Got it right out of the ATM attached to the bank down the street from CB1. Found out from a cab driver when I was paying my fare later that same day. Funny thing was that the girl I was with and I both felt HE was trying to give ME some fake bills. I picked up on it and just kept using the 20's I got that morning from the ATM since that was all I had at the time. Staff at CB1 were impressed at the quality as were the people at the bank. They would not exchange it for another 20 note even though I told them it was from their ATM. In so many words the bank manager told me to just use it because it would most likely pass. I of course did not do that and still have the note. The cab driver and the bank staff showed me the minute flaw in the copy but very few people had I ever seen check that aspect of the note. Since then I have seen people check by folding the note in half and rubbing it together listening for the slightly raised edges of one of the designs to make a noise. Maybe some other guys have had issues with other notes but mine was only with a 20. I use the ATM method for getting money every time I visit and have not had a problem since.

I guess to answer your question I would suggest getting money inside the bank is the safest to avoid counterfeit money but I never use that method. I always use the ATM. Maybe a cambio would be second safest? I don't know if it is an extreme problem in MDE but in all my visits or my friend's visits I have known it to happen once. Hopefully I didn't pass any unknowingly!

If you can't trust the bank, then the whole banking system is destroyed. Since you used it later in the day, are you sure you didn't have money from before in your pockets? Did you buy anything and get some change? Are you sure you didn't look away for a split second and the taxista changed it on you? I've got a fake bill from a taxista once. So shady. Don't ever give them big bills (larger than 20). They all claim they don't have change.

But that was not the case at all. The taxista was trying to scam me that is for sure though. The girl I was with and I both caught on to that. He tried to be slick and charge me for a few wrong turns he made when I gave him exact and simple directions. I knew the cost from A to B was going to be just under 20. I had money from a previous trip that I used that day but the money from the ATM I put in my money holder around my neck completely apart from my money for that day. I only reached in that stash to get a 20 out. I agree the ATM is stocked by the bank and figured that may work for or against me when I went in to complain but took my chances. It is a very good fake. It took a bit of scrutiny by the bank rep and then the manager as they did not dismiss me right away. Some people looked at it and told me it was legit but I did not want to chance it after the bank told me it was fake. Your questions are the same I would ask too but the bill did come from the ATM.
