Thinking of going to Sousa end of March
I am trying to get a vibe of Sousa now and in the next months.
Lots of negative reports.
Should I be considering Costa Rica.
Any thoughts.
I got shaken down in Sept, remember? Same spot, right in front of Lou's
"got shaken down though. police pulled me over on my scooter for not wearing my helmet, they were on pedro clisante and not on the main road above were they usually hang out. i tried everything."no speakey spanish, i know the police sergeant, i'm a tourist who has been coming down for 8 years", blah blah blah, the guy wouldn't budge he wanted to be greased no matter what. he threatened to confirep001e my moto. so while filling out the "official" paper work i asked him what was the process he said that i needed to go to some bank and wait in line and pay this shit then return to the police station with the paid receipt. i then told him "how about i just give it to you and you drop the money off" he said "ok" i gave him the money and the "official infraction" went into a rain puddle in the water and my 1000 pesos went into his pocket.
if they start hassling tourists as a norm over there to get greased for petty bullshit i will not be returning for this was my first run in with the law in 8 years. this practice will only hurt the tourism business in the end. you can't imagine how many poor motoconch drivers are so upset with the policia and transito there."
Another newbie defending Sosua
Was there pre-Christmas for 5 days and I got to say that place is heaven on earth. Was kinda scared first because of the negative reports I read regarding the crackdown.
Found nice chicks at NG, the beach, classicos and never paid more than 1000-1500p. A few times even nothing (and I don't even speak spanish).
Maybe it was better a few years ago but for any newbie like me it was already more than I could handle. I was so exausted after 5 days, I felt like I never needed sex again in my life.
Besides that I liked the beach, the food and the overall relaxing vibe of the town.
Definitely going to come back!
And thanks for all the previous reports, helped a lot.
