When in Rome, we need to walk as Romans do, or so goes the saying. I'm going to imply that, based on how you were dressed going around the scene downtown, you were a posterchild for an "Ugly American or Ugly Gringo" if you are not from the USA. They assume we should stick to the more upscale places, that's where we should be, not slumming with their kind. Rule number one when going downtown is to dressdown, or blend in; don't make it so obvious that you are a foreigner. You are in their yard, Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, a foreign land, some people are very territorial like that.

Some folks find it extremely offensive if we go to their backyard and go to their establishments to take advantage of their women. Yes, its silly, but understand their mentality. It is a territorial thing with some of these folks. I for one, blend so well that I've never been asked to wait outside anywhere, no matter where I've gone or how full the place has been. That should have been a clue that something was not quite right. Live and learn, next time you go, wear slacks, a polo shirt, and tennis and don't ask too many questions and you should be fine. Those Rio casa get raided from time to time because somebody didn't get paid or some professional or nongdp "WOMEN" made a complaint to the right people. And when a foreigner like you run around the building asking for obvious "sex locations", their "secret office building working girl houses" for the locals turns into the world dreaded "Sexoutism". C'mon dude, I apologize for the "bad words" that I thought should apply to your actions, but use some common sense, or stay home!

Being a prostitute is not illegal in Brazil, however someone benefiting financially from the prostitution activities of another is illegal. Termas exist only because cops and government officials are paid to look the other way. They all could be gone tomorrow. Private apartments and massage places are the same. They do not want too much attention brought to their activities because they are illegal and because their nice neighbors might decide to put some pressure on the cops and government officials to do something about them.

When you visit another country, observe the behavior of the locals. When they visit prives, they quietly approach the doors alone or with one friend. They look like they are going to the doctor or accountant. Please follow their lead or the next time you go to that prive you will find it has closed or moved.

I once saw 6 copa gringoes coming from a sala door complaining they been there twice and was told it was too busy. Them "girls are tripping" they said to me. I knew what happened. I retreated and went to the elevator down with them as explained that you can't arrive 6 deep with backpacks like you're going to 4x4 or other terma. Do the privates have a lineup, or do you hang out like the termas. One thing I didn't like about the casas in Colombia was they all have a lineup. No interview process is possible. Its alot cheaper there so it makes up for it a little bit.

This gives you a quick meet and greet. Take this time to find out what your looking for ie completa and so forth.

The more you visit some of them the more time you get for the line up. Happy hunting

Popped into T65 (meia-cinco) last night. Very busy at 8pm. Lots of Brazilian guys in the boate, maybe 20. Started thinning out by 9. At one point was about 15 guys to 15 girls. Not sure how many of the guys went to rooms, probably less than 30.

Only 1 stand-out (for me) in the joint, a tall mulatta bodybuilder chick, only 19. Safadinha in the room. I like the suites at 65, especially in the newer section.

I'm continuing to check out cheaper options. The other day I checked out 502, but turns out it was a holiday and they only had 15 girls working. So I sessioned with the one of them and had an OK experience. The day I tried the centro massage places, I took a cab to villa mimosa. I had to at least see it on this trip. I read all these comments about the talent being down right now in Rio. At this time of year it goes quiet in the Termas. 502 right now is a complete mess, all the decent girls have gone and it is just dead. Come the end of November things will really pick up. December through to after Carnaval (Feb-Mar) is the peak time for Rio for the Termas etc.

So the answer for this time of the year is the prives, they are still full. For me they have the hottest girls right now and a complete roster of staff every month.

I read all this talk about there not being the same talent working in Rio as 5 years ago, I think this is not correct. I have been hearing this ever since my first trip in 2003/2004. I think that the more trips people make the more they expect. With each return trip we expect more. If you search hard enough you can find a number of 9's. Just need to put in the effort and get out there and explore.

Yes the economic situation has improved in Brazil, but if you are from a poor background and have no education it is still tough to earn more than R$1000. R$1500 per month and with inflation rampant in Brazil, that doesn't go very far.

I think it is very accurate to bring up perspective which is why I did so with Sperto. If you are a local (Bubba Boy) or frequent visitor who speaks Portuguese well and more than a week to spend on the ground, you feel much more comfortable visiting some places that the casual tourist might not. Not everyone feels comfortable in downtown Rio going from office building to office building or visiting places that are rated based upon the cleanliness of the sheets.

I personally have had good experiences with Brazilians living in other countries, including the US. That same experience might not apply to someone who does not speak Portuguese. So what I am saying is not that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but that how easy it is to obtain that beauty, is.

One thing I am NOT saying is that women elsewhere on any level are better than Brazilians. But to say that the number of women in the business easily accessible to the majority of the members of this forum has not decreased in recent times is disingenuous.

There is absolutely no doubt that the number of available GDP's in Copacabana has decreased. When Help was in operation it used to essentially keep 500-1000 GDP's. Rent in Copa is now much much higher than it was even 3 years ago, so even the remaining GDP's that work in Copa can't afford to live in Copa. I used to see Terma girls walking along the street all the time in Copa, now very rarely see them, they go home to the baixada after work.

The market has changed, hence it is necessary to change with it. This means one has to visit Centro or Tijuca. As exec has stated, probably not best for a first time visitor to stumble around the place, but the big Centro Termas are perfectly fine. Some of the big Prives are fine as well, just don't be an ugly tourist, keep it low key, don't go in groups of more than 2. A little respect goes a long long way.

A quick review on a very pleasant outcall session I experienced recently in Rio.

The girls' name is Bom Bom. Found her on barravipsrio. Com where she still is. I called at 9. 00 pm, Bom Bom doesn't speak a word of english (and I don't speak portugese) but she had a friend who speaks good english and provided all information I needed. The girl arrived 1 hour later. But upon her arrival, something unusual occured : I was staying at The Sofitel Copacabana and the receptionnist called me to say that a visitor was asking for me and if I was ok to let her come to my room. Well, I was surprised but I said yes. Then 3 minutes later, the girl knocked at the door, I opened and let her come in but she was not alone. Bad surprise isn't it?
