Also, are there any restaurants close to where you are staying, especially Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday when most places are closed? Taxis are not cheap to go from one place to another. Buses are 1950's running ragged. I did see 3 new buses! All this is important and I'll dwell more on this on a Hotels thread for Paraguay.
As it was getting late, I got some beer and water from El Pais grocery store across from Plaza Uruguay and walked to the hotel as it was close by. Had hotel buffet dinner which was good for g33 mil. Prepared notes of casas to go to during the day from next day. Slept early.
Yes, the sidewalks are pretty much broken in the Centro. It is not a good idea to put 2 inch square tiles on the sidewalk. These go in bathrooms and kitchens for design effect. I did not find any dirty and greasy places that Hollywood found. Most places were reasonably clean, including the casas. Did not have any problems with the food either which I thought was quite healthy.

I will come to Paraguay though I like to do some sightseeing and may go to the countryside for a few days to take a break from ASU.
The Cultural Shock for me was not in Paraguay but I must state here too. After being in Peru and Paraguay for almost a month, I forgot what it was like in the USA. While being in the departure lounge in Lima for the flight back to USA, I saw Americans again. I could not believe how obese and fat Americans were. Some of those people should pay for two seats. Over 66% of Americans are either obese or fat. Seeing so many fat people was a shock to me. I had a great trip. Thanks Paraguay.
Suggestions: To have good sex and what is available, I suggest Parada 838 and PY Escorts as they are open and have fine girls. Most others may be closed or open at different hours. I did not get to try Deseos Agency as it was closed all times I tried. Have sex, have fun.

Very important to all "Newbies," please read Ken Apples' "Guide to Asuncion for Newbies. " I agree, one week is plenty of time for ASU. And maybe make ASU a stop-over to places like LIM (Lima) or EZE (Buenos Aires) as after 4 or 5 days you should have done and seen pretty much of the all of the city. Also, bring bug spray like "Off," disinfectant spray like"Lysol" for shower floors and toilets, shower slippers (flip flops), soap for shower, towel for shower (you may be given a used towel), liquid hand soap, alcohol hand sanitizer, and toilet paper. Many places I went to in ASU they did not have any toilet paper. Wash your hands often and use the alcohol hand sanitizer often. Also, if you're are not staying at an international hotel do not drink the water. And do not brush your teeth with the tap water. Use bottle water.
Three Brazilian Churasquias (Grilled Meats) that I ate at were Paulista Grill, Acuarelas and Sul Brazil. Paulista was the most elegant and most expensive, next was Acuarelas and finally Sul Brazil was the least expensive of the three. The meat at the Paulista and Acuarelas were over-cooked and very tough while the meat at Sul Brazil was soft, moist and chewy. Skip Paulista and Acuarelas and save money IMHO.
RTFF to get a feel for ASU so you have some knowledge beforehand and ask questions of the senior memebers after studying the ASU forum. And if you do not speak Castellano (Spanish) at an intermediate level please bring a Wingman who does. Also, a Wingman would be good for your mutual protection and fellowship.
Very nice and helpful people in ASU! I did not have any problems even though many people including the police told me to be very careful in certain areas. Good luck and have fun!
