At the moment I am having a great time in the Soi Bouakao area, where there is many smaller bars and also a few good, normal priced GOGO places. For some good fun watching the action of the local lady-boy crowd a must see is POOK Bar, which is just outside the place where I stay, the Diana-Oasis hotel. I feel very comfortable there and the location is just great. If you avoid the rip-off places on Walking Str, overall the prices in Thailand are cheaper. My very nice and modern studio costs me about 1000 Phil. Pesos / 750Baht / day / incl. Nice brekkie. I paid almost double for a much inferior hotel room in Angeles and did not even get a brekkie. Girls want anywhere from 700-1000 Baht Lt. Which again is less than the 1500- 2500 Pesos BF in Angeles, wher many of the girls are non-performers, runners or bullshiters. The only real advantage in Angeles is they speak reasonably well English and their is plenty of Aussie mates there to have some good fun.

The distance / price of plane tickets discourage the average American from even thinking about visting Thailand, those two factors means nothing to me. LOL!

Was great fun. Found some of the servers (called service staff) at gogos were not taken out often and were alot less jaded but as cute as the dancers.

Chris H[/QUOTE]Actually I have just come back from Phils and I'd say 50% plus of the mongers there are Americans, I think it's a combination of the distance and the thought of an exotic language that keeps the nos of Americans in Thailand down to say 10% of the total? Most Americans are OK with English and familiar with Spanish but many who have not travelled extensively are wary of countries speaking non European languages.

Sometimes it does rain but sometimes it doesn't, but it shouldn't interfere with your plans. Make the most of it, just chill out have a beer or get a massage and then go on to the next place. Some Thai's don't like Indians, but so does other people in the world and that shouldn't stop you from having a good time. If a particular bar or girl doesn't want to service you because you're Indian, then take your business somewhere else. There will be plenty others that will want your $$$$ because it is low season.

They're not required to go out with customers, so they have to somewhat like you to agree to be bar fined. And at a lower rate too.

I am an American who lives and works in Japan, and usually make 2 or 3 trips to Thailand a year during my Winter, Spring, and Summer Breaks (I am a teacher, long vacations are a bonus). Over the past few years I have begun spending the month of August in Pattaya, and I love it.

First, fewer customers mean the girls are hungry for customers and you can usually bargain for a better deal. Walking Street Go-Go Girls that demand 3000 baht LT during New Years or April are suddenly open to 2000 baht quite easily.

Also, hotels are MUCH cheaper. For me, I always stay at the Pattaya Bay Resort, it is a great place, and VERY girl friendly. Never a problem with bring back 2 or more girls, and never a joiner fee. If you are into ladyboys or gay, I have noticed that the staff is friendly to guys bringing the, back as well. I will be there 37 days this August break, and they gave me a rate of 25, 000 baht for the whole stay, which is less than 5000 baht a week for a standard room, giving me more money for girls.

As for the attitude of some bars and girls towards Indians and Arabs, I am sad to report I have heard first hand from the girls that they refuse to go with them. I am an American of Italian descent, and one girl didn't want to go with me at first last summer because she thought I was Arab. At the time I had a full beard, so she assumed I was until her friend said I was American. Back in the room, she asked to see my passport because she didn't really believe me. Odd to see such attitudes, but since I live in Japan I am more than used to it. Here, if you are not Japanese, the best places won't let you in the door.

But you will not have trouble finding girls. Soi 6 and Walking Street have lots of girls, and fewer customers means you get more personal service. Beach Road not as crowded, but still some diamonds in the rough there. Also, many bars seem to have longer happy hours to try to get the customers that are there in the door.

So nice to be in bed with a beauty during a tropical thunderstsorm (outside) so do not worry (much) about the weather, LOL

Seems they are short of staff during this busiest period.

While there are considerable numbers of Americans working for NGOs, schools (teaching english) , multinational or US based companies with offices in Thailand. You will not see as many Americans mongering / vacationing in Thailand as you will in countries where english where english is more common / widespread (like the Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia,). The exception in Thailand is when an entire Navy battle fleet stops in Phuket (thousands of American guys in a week but well behaved). Most of the Americans I met while in Thailand were non mongers / vacationers. They were workers (NGOs, teachers, multinational or US based companies) , in the military. Also met a few who were backpackers, eco / environmental nut jobs. Go figure.

The good thing about the US is that more and a more Americans who travel today. Are actually 1st or 2nd generation immigrants from other countries / nations themselves. And they still speak thair first / parents language (Chinese, Spanish, Thai, Hindu, Laotian, Cambodian, Korean, Tagalong, etc.). There very comfortable with their original parents heritage and embrace travelling to SE Asia. You really see it places like San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, and NYC of course. However many of these same immigrants who move to or grow up in the US become totally brain washed. Although they are indian asian, black, or brown on the outside. But intentionally choose to embrace all things anglo mentally and psychologically. It's like they literally try to become Anglo-saxon. Especially the Asians. Despite what they see in the mirror, and their actual heritage. Amazing.

I will certainly try Beach Road on my upcoming trip. However I don't want to take these girls back to my hotel. There is the obvious security risk and secondly, I don't really want to have to check-in 3-4 different girls into my hotel everyday!

I'm sure there are plenty of short time rooms in Pattaya, but are there any along Beach Road?

Don't worry too much about. I'm of Indian origin, and have spent many happy days in BKK and Patts.

Never really had any issue with racism. Maybe the odd look or comment here and there, but nothing you wouldn't get in my local town centre in the UK on a Saturday night.

It's simple. Be friendly, presentable and most of all generous. Bar girls are just like any other any other walk of life, most good, some bad.

I once had a girl, who having rode me like a bull, decided to confide in me she didn't go with Indians but had made an exception for me. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

She then left in the morning, because she was going to see 'Buddha'. I couldn't be bothered to point out the irony.

I took girls from a gogo bar, a night club and even walking street without any issue. Just be normal, smile and talk to them. 2 of the girls asked me that Indians are black how come you have light skin. So maybe they don't have a problem with Indians as such but with anyone with darker skin color.

So I would say go there have fun and don't worry about it. When you get tired of walking around, go to one of those foot massage shops and get a foot massage. Those ladies have magic in their hands.
