About 5 years ago, I struck up a communication with a woman in Cherry Blossoms.

She is a maid, working for an upper middle class family. So the only way that we could spend time together was in afternoons. She is with me now, and we head off to her farm tomorrow.

Then she mentioned that her brother is a semi professional panning for gold. Pulls about 10 grams per week, but sometimes that amount in a day. About 1500 pesos per gram. Not bad money.

Then she mentions that she has a kind of business buying clothing locally at discount prices, shipping it to her mama in the province, who sells at about 100% markup.

At my stage in life, I am happy for one pop per day. But she expects more, not in a pushy way, she just likes more. I don't know how she does it, but she manages to pull two or three per day. I am gobsmacked. Nothing special, she just does it somehow.

So for all of the punters in ISG land who regale pinays as being lazy, good for nothings, this is more like the real pinay. Smart, hard working, forward thinking.

The point why many travel as tourist to get job is simple. There aren't many jobs here and those who take the legal route normally loose up to 6 months salary to cover govt endorsed robbery. I. E POEA. And those related robbery acts.

That would never get fixed lest a few thousand govt servants will become redundant. If they do like most other labor exporting countries. Just protect maids and low level workers. If an educated it guy manages to land himself in trouble. Too bad.

That is how it should be. Instead of forcing nurses going to Libya to undergo compulsory 1 day Arabic courses, then orient doctors going to Singapore being taught about Singapore by a guy who has never been to Singapore. And additional of above costs to the candidate.

If a person gets denied entry into say Singapore that's still not Philippines BI's problem.

What's amazing is 9 out of 10 Filipinos agree BI is doing the right thing and say what is wrong in producing the required document.

And the above group's only grouse is when BI offload those with proper document. Never realizing the whole BI demands are violation of basic right for any citizen to travel. No wonder this country can vote in Marcos family and go on to suggest Ferdinand did a great job in running the country.
