there have been moments in my life when felt ashamed to be german, yes. not because of the history (bad enough) but because of the rude behaviour of some germans around me.

and there have been other moments when i felt happy to be german and not one of the other rude behaving foreigners from the us, england, australia or somewhere else.

that's what i tell all my students or the other teachers here who ask me about germans and germany: every country has some people with a good character and some with a less good character.

You will see that large parts of America (especially in around cities, and large towns) feel and look like El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and Nicaragua, and Mexico (in the worst ways). Its sickening, especially when you realize that the problem is exacerbated by weak, uncoordinated law enforcement (on all levels). Despite the costs. It's not a priority. Yet.
