First hand knowledge, My girlfriend was a victim of a purse snatching where she fought a little and has scars for her trouble. Where I live is a banca a few doors down, and it has been robbed (at gunpoint) twice in 3 months, once with neighbors playing the numbers. Nearby colmados as well. Those I know happened.

The push in robbery I read in one of the papers. 2 Dominican women returned from the US and were followed home when they arrived they were pushed inside and robbed.

As for tourists, I've read about some Canadians in the north coast that were robbed and killed.

I have a tendency to go out of the house with a lot of money in my pocket, prefer cash over cc's. The GF always warns me about it and ever since the robberies close to home I've been taking less.

But I grew up in Crown Heights Brooklyn, waking up to gunshots in the middle of the night with working girls and crack dealers nearby. So these things don't phase me that much.

No monger that we have known has been affected, but if you are staying in an apartment and not hotel do not give that information on custom form. You could be followed.

And don't shoot the messenger; I definitely did not write the article. I assumed that it has been going on for a while because the updated article Revere posted shows that they now have the police more involved in the situation:

The US Ambassador in Santo Domingo said "he expects the situation to be resolved with no need for further warnings." Anyone concerned, might choose a flight that arrives in the daytime or not fly into SDQ. I used SDQ airport in the last two months and it was perfectly safe and I only heard about the incidents from reading a post here on the ISG, after I got back from the DR. New shops, banks and other improvements to the SDQ airport.

Hell, I do not give my address when returning to the US.

Girls are everywhere and you can meet them anywhere. It depends on you more than anything else. Shopping centers and the Conde are places the odds are even more in your favor.

1, 000 to 2, 500 or more. GBP, pasteur, cuban are search terms that will get your all the details for what you say you don't want.

Yes, some places will ask for the girls I'd. Places with a lot of pros hanging around like the Jaragua are pretty strict against it. Some hotels charge guest fees so be careful about that showing up on your hotel bill if you have to turn it in with an expense report.

Thanks for the response. I'll look into those places. A buddy of mine told me that most girls will stay with you until 10am the next morning and price is based on how early or late you get them the night before, any truth to that?

Some venues are more strict about the time.
