You are allowed to cancel.
I had raised something similar with their support some time ago. Below is what was told to me. Hope this helps.
I did not eventually buy the subscription in this case so can't share my experience with this process. I have put my card details on SA though prior to that. Was fairly safe I thought with the transaction camouflaged in the statement as explained on their website.
At this time, there is no way to upgrade your account for a one-month membership without selecting to be billed recurringly, however, this does not mean you won't be able to cancel. Once you upgrade your account, and you see the membership reflected on your account, you then have the option to cancel your membership before you are charged again.
In the future, to cancel your auto-renewing subscription:
Navigate to your Settings page by clicking on your username in the top right corner then choosing Settings from the drop-down menu that appears.
You will see the Payments section at the bottom left of the settings list. Here you can find the Cancel Auto-Renew option.
Hey folks,
Quick query from why'all experts: I am looking forward to buy a SA subscription. I read that it's auto renewed every month. Is there a way to pay for the SA membership with a prepaid card or other means? I don't really feel so good about sharing my actual credit card details for SA. Also auto renewal would probably mean they won't even cancel the renewal charges even if I terminate my account on SA later. I don't want someone else to have any control here. Please help with suggestions for a way out.
On a different note, is it worth it buying the SA paid membership? I guess the standard screening and common sense applies to weed out the crazy ones but how is the overall experience on SA? Also, any unusual scams or gotchas I need to be aware of? Waiting for some helpful pointers from all the wonderful people on this forum. Thanks in advance guys! Stay safe.
