3. Manila Bay Cafe. You can do the research here.

4. Angeles City. Lots of info here also.

Havana Cafe and other venues in upscale Manila are not great in my humble opinion.

Lighter-skinned people are perceived often as simply "better," with darker-skinned Filipinos who happen to be Muslim at the bottom of the taxonomy.

I have a former honeyko who is an absolutely delightful girl both in looks and personality. She has a smile that lights up a room and is witty and intelligent to boot. But she is very dark skinned and therefore according to the mores of the culture in which she was raised, she is considered ugly. Moreover she herself developed a very poor self image inculcated over her life by overwhelming negative societal prejudices. She worked in a factory for a while but then met an white guy who was attracted to her by the very attribute which is disdained by her own people. So eventually, after this relationship failed, she began working as a GRO and later as a LAC freelancer, which is where I met her. Here she was very popular and accepted, because of her vibrant personality but mainly down to her chocolate skin tone. Her clients were nearly always white and very rarely East Asian, who tend to prefer pale skinned girls.

I enjoyed her great company and lovely rounded curves many times (I was an LAC regular back then) but, as they do, she eventually disappeared off the scene and we lost touch. I like to think that she met a guy who appreciated her for her sweet nature and lovely looks and snapped her up as a wife but that is probably fallacious.

Brown skinned girls can have it tough in The Philippines.

When one discusses the racism of another race there is always the danger of projecting one's personal view points, prejudices and racial beliefs upon the race in question. White Westerners will inevitably see Filipino racism through the prism of their own history of enslavement and exploitation of other races. It is impossible for them to divorce their long held beliefs and emotions from any interpretation of racism among other peoples. Whenever Europeans enslaved and committed genocide against another race it was necessary to resolve this with their Christian dogma of 'love your fellow man as you love yourself. ' This was done by depicting the race that was targeted for aggression and subjugation as less human, and therefore not a fellow man. This freed them from any obligation to act in a civilized manner towards the inhabitants of any land that was plundered for its resources. So, understandably when white Western males speak for Filipinas as far as their racial views are concerned I am inclined to view it with much skepticism. After all, the racist legacy left behind by Western colonialism was a construct imposed on the native population to benefit those of European ancestry and deprive the indigenous people of any opportunity for advancement under colonial rule. The results of this institutionalized racism are seen in today's failed state of the Republic of the Philippines. When Westerners chafe at the corruption, inefficiencies, and lack of property rights and justice for outsiders it might do them well to remember under whose tutelage the Filipinos developed this society.

White or light skinned Filipinos may constitute the majority of the ruling class. However, it might be going too far to say that white or light skin is a ticket into the ranks of the elite. There are many light skinned prostitutes selling their asses in the various paid sex venues of Manila. Obviously, white skin does little to improve the lot of those unfortunate individuals as they are still being mounted and pounded by scores of sex tourists as are their darker sisters in Angeles City.

If there is a white skin benefit when it comes to valuing a person it certainly does not apply to foreigners. It is well known that Filipinos appear to murder, rob, defraud, and imprison white foreigners with reckless abandon. One might even say that being a white foreigner in the Philippines is a liability due to the regularity that this demographic is targeted for such treatment at the hands of locals.

As you can see this issue is rather complex, and as many Philippine social issues, can hardly be explained by sex monger sociologists. As anyone can see from reading the thousands of anecdotes posted on the forum mongers are at a lost when it comes to deciphering individual Filipina behavior much less that of the population at large. Even PhDs in sociology would find the often contradictory behaviors and beliefs of Filipinos a challenge to study and explain.

Chocha Monger, I find the last sentence of your post particularly interesting and accurate. The longer I'm here, the less I understand, and I've been trained to understand. I never meant to insinuate that lighter skin was a ticket to the good life. Obviously there are multiple factors and multiple forces in play here, and they all interact to produce this uniquely failed state as you accurately describe it. This culture-to the extent that there's an actual "Filipino culture"-cannot be understood through the prism of any single concept, nor was it my intention to claim otherwise.

The "privilege" that attaches to white skinned foreigners-heightened chances to be kidnapped or robbed-obviously relate to the common perception that equates white foreigners with economic opportunity. While I don't disagree with your perception of increased risk, I would argue that it stems from jealousy of what we're perceived to have.

There are several young Sociologists at Ateneo de Manila who argue, quite cogently, that generalizations about Filipino culture are impossible, simply because the country has never succeeded in creating a national culture. Rather, they contend, this is a country of balkanized tribal / regional cultures that can only be understood within their own contexts. My experiences working with local communities in Mindanao lends some credence to this assertion.

I suppose that the above is somewhat of a digression from my original point from which I've not been dissuaded: that racism is a thread that runs through much of the country; that white is somehow "better" than brown. I've simply observed too much of the society not to believe this. This does not of course mean that it's the defining trait of the society. Perhaps, as an American whose country engaged the slave trade since before its creation, and that still houses huge pockets of hard core racists, I'm somewhat sensitive to the practice when I see it prevalent elsewhere, or perhaps as a social scientist, I'm just trying to make sense out of what I observe.

As someone will doubtless point out sooner or later, this point has probably been belabored enough and is far removed from the major interest of most who frequent this site.

Reckless abandon? I'd say Filipinos murder, rob, and defraud each other far more frequently than they do white foreigners. As to targeting white foreigners more than other foreigners, could this perception be partially the result of greater media attention to those cases as opposed to those involving East Asians, South Asians, or Middle Easterners? I suspect that, to the extent some foreigners are at greater risk, it's primarily driven by the locals' perceptions about whose pockets are most likely to yield rewards.

Recently, an article in the Filipino Reporter stated a Wayne, New Jersey Filipina female doctor 84 years old was cited for over prescribing Oxycodone with bail set at $1 million cool ones. Isn't there a mandatory retirement age for doctors? She was a psychiatrist. I guess her patients had severe headaches.

Another article in the same paper stated that there were 3 other Filipino doctors over the past few years, two men and one woman who were caught up in the same scheme where they would write excessive prescriptions for Oxycodone. The woman doctor was the youngest at age 69. She was also charged with several manslaughter counts as there was 11 deaths from overdose of her patients. This was in Florida.

So, my point is this: Even though they come to the US to live the good life with a doctor's education, they still go astray because of greed for the almighty dollar. I think a lot of them have a defective gene that causes this greed.

I also have personal experience where I had a 3 year romance with a Filipina domestic helper in Hong Kong. I would travel to HK for a month at a time staying in her apartment during that time. Would make about 4 trips to HK a year. Each one was like a honeymoon. I fell in love with her sweetness, etc. And never asked for money. After two years, things seemed to be slacking off and she seemed to be more interested in asking for money for her daughter's computer for studying, other reasons for extra bucks were requested and of course, I was in love. Finally, I woke up one day and said enough is enough.

Of course, I miss her as she was one of the most adventurous, warm girls I'll probably ever meet. But, she did get to me for a couple of thousand. Since then, she's been a domestic helper in Oman, Beirut and Sidney. She still keeps in touch every few months or so and of course, I'm the sucker to allow the communication. I was 25 years older as she was 35 then.

I visited Manila for 4 days during the last week of August. This was my first trip and I had a great time. Thanks to the loads of information available in this forum, particularly the reports by senior members which were very helpful for selection of hotel, mongering places, bars and malls.

Stayed at Eurotel hotel on Pedro Gil in Ermita for the first 2 days and then at St. Giles hotel in Makati for remaining 2 days. Both hotels are girl friendly. It was so easy to find WGs and massage girls on streets at night. Before the trip, I tried to get contact numbers of WGs from some known senior members of the forum. But, upon arrival in Manila, I realized there was no need to pocket any contacts in advance as plenty of stuff was available without hassles.

Sylvanus is in Quezon City, not over MBC. You should not count on more than one pop at most of the massages and spas, but there may be exceptions. There will be greater variation in the number of pops from bargirls (Burgos and EDSA) and MBC independents because the women have substantially more discretion away from the establishment. Robinson's refers usually to Robinson's Place Mall in Ermita, about three blocks from MBC. Going price from Robinson's, Harrison, and other malls will be similar to MBC, but may offer negotiation to slightly lower prices. Mall girls sometimes include those who have been run out of MBC because of behavior, so buyer beware. The quality of product at MBC (as compared to the former LA Cafe) has probably not changed very much. There is greater variation from one hour to the next than from month to month or year to year. I used to get a coupon taxi or yellow taxi for between 500php. 700php a year ago.
