One thing that surprised me is that many Banks that in the past let me use their ATMs for cash withdrawals for free (using a CC) now charge a fee. Bancolombia wanted 3% on 600 k max, Itau wanted 2% on 720 k max, I declined both and kept searching. Scotiabank allowed free withdrawal, and also had the most generous limit of 900 K pesos (about 270 USD).
Not sure which other banks allow free withdrawals from their ATMs. An update from an expert would be nice.

If I walk from there down Calle 19 it gives me a different approach to the bars once I cross over Caracas, or, I'll just walk down Calle 22.
Either way, walking from there is 15 minutes or less.
And, there are some great food options in that location all around the no traffic section of La Septima, and some excellent (normal) bars on a walk in the direction of La Candelaria.

However, from experience, I only fux with Scotiabank, and Citibank for free withdrawals. The amount available varies from ATM to ATM - 1. 2 mill can be an option.

That said, I think there is an app called ATM Hero or something like that which gives you the nearby ATMs and their charges. I used it when I was in Colombia and it worked out pretty good.

Some brokerage firms don't charge you for fees on their end, but don't know of any banks or brokerages that reimbursed foreign bank ATM fees? If you know of any, share the wealth.

So listen CAREFULLY. You want to use the Colpatria / Scotiabank ATM. NOT the Colpatria ATM. Not the Scotiabank ATM. They are different. You want the Colpatria / Scotiabank ATM. It is different. A combination of the two. I THINK it will say on the front that you can take out 2,700,000 pesos each day. I take out 900,000 3 times. Works best for me. Any other use of ATMs in Colombia is dumb. Search around and you will find the 'good' Colpatria / Scotia ATMs. Don't get fooled!
Regarding the issue of using a guide when you go to a area that is new to you, I would like to add my thoughts on this matter that has been brought to light on this board.
I myself tend to go to locations that I have already have experience in the area.
No matter what knowledge a Monger has it is very hard not to make mistakes in a new area. A learning experience is always needed, and this costs time, and money. Lets say you go to bars that are not good or your pick the wrong girls { Starfish }. Now we all know with girls it is YMMV, but almost 100% if a trusted fellow tells you a girl is a Starfish then she is one. That alone is worth paying a few bucks for that kind of Intel.
In regards to Woodman I have a very trusted Wingman who just told me he used Woodman's services in the past on his first trip to BOG, and it was not expensive, and very informative.
For me when I try out a new area I always RTFF, and look to get help from boots on the ground.
Now if you are the guy who doesn't like to pay a fellow to help him out then so be it.

After much deliberation on my next holiday destination, thought about Africa or Brazil), I've finally decided on Bogota after seeing the great value Santa Fe offers.
Planning on booking Woodman for a tour but hopefully I can navigate on my own after that if I can't find a wingman.
Few questions though-.
I plan on staying close to Santa Fe, is it safe to walk around the area where the San Francisco hotel is for example as I love to do lots of walking?
Also I have read many times not to use your phone in Santa Fe. If someone doesn't speak any Spanish, what's the best way to negotiate with the SW's if you can't use Google translate on your phone?

Had Woodman's tour couple days ago, Very well worth it, I was with him when he was with that hottie that he posted pictures of earlier this week. No exaggeration there, that girl was a nine. Actually I have never had that in my life that I walked down a street and there are dozens of available girls, and every single one is very fuckable, and waiting for you to talk to them. Absolutely have him show you Santa Fe and all the clubs and bars there. Even for the more experienced monger, can learn something new.
For newbies and poor Spanish speakers you are going to need him, he can help you get the girl you want instead of just any, or even worse none. While woodman went to play with the second hottie for the night, was taking a break on the street, and I saw lot of guys too afraid to enter clubs, or talk to girls, so they just ended up walking around achieving nothing. Don't be those guys, if you need the help get it. With his help was even able to land some phone numbers for hooker girlfriend experiences at my place.
As far as safety is concerned I guess, it is the same as any other mongering zone, common sense prevails, maybe take the 30 carat diamond, 18 carat white gold Rolex off before going out. Just a suggestion.

Area around Santa FE is bit sketchy but you can walk easily. I would prefer taxi in dark. Taxi will take you to street where all the clubs are. You can roam between clubs and during this time better not to show off your phone and valuables. You can use translation and easy to communicate. Normally in all clubs standard time is 20 mi utes room hire that is paid by girl. She will charge you 60,000 or 70,000 peso for 20 minutes. Maid in hotel (specially paisa club will seek some tip and it will help you to get better room and bit tolerant with time). There is police presence at night and better get taxi when you come back. Many girls are willing to go to your hotel. Always talk photo of taxi number plate and let drive clearly know what are you doing. Try to talk to some one on the phone and pretend to talk in english detailing taxi and number. It will ensure driver will not even dare to cheat you or mug you. I been there for 4 nights and did not have any problem. I took ladies to my hotel Tequendama and once ladies are with you are more safe in taxi. Hygiene is not great as you cannot take shower only wash your private part. So better take with you mouth wash and wipes in case you want to meet multiple ladies. You can overcome your hygiene issue but also ask girl to use your mouth wash to clean her mouth (otherwise she might have sucked previous client tool and kissing will be unhygienic). I overcomed hygenic fears using mouth wash and wipes. It is damn cheap and just under $100 you can fuck 3-4 girls (20 minutes watch).
