Some of the points you make are valid in your recent post. The P4P scene is varied in india's financial capital, ranging from the equivalent of $25 for ST to upto $2K for LT's. The argument re per capita income and mongering spend in India compared with the US is not quite valid. The rates you mention are not what average citizens would even think about paying. Bombay has a lot of people whose income far exceeds that of the average New Yorker and some of them are quite willing to splurge. A large peg of a rare scotch comes at $ 600 in one of the top Bombay hotels and a guy who can down three of these in an evening can well afford a high priced escort (and probably buy her a few pegs as well).

I tend to agree with Lugalzaggizi. I don't think he meant to put down India in poor light or degrade it. In India and Mumbai especially, the escort scene is simply blown out.
