Word from my providers at Hong Song is that they are closed till the 17th. They say they're cleaning up for President's Xi's visit but will be back at work on the 17th. Strange, because Xi doesn't get here till the 19th. Anyway, I wouldn't venture out now.

There are still Viets here, but with the other places closed, now more demand at M &J. Given the problems in the sea south of China, think Viets with their 15 day visas are going to be reduced like the Filipinas before. We'll just have to see who will replace them. For sure they will be replaced, too many short timers paying stupid money at J & M for this to go away.
Was wondering why so many places were closed, guess options are limited for the time being. Doesn't equate to total outage, as I noticed MP and BBS with lights out but people still inside bathed in the glow of phones / tvs / computers. Still, it seems like fewer and fewer are willing to risk it, with the notable exceptions of places that double as legit massage operations as well.
Kinda freaky to show up just as a raid is happening, seeing all the girls emptied out and just standing outside not knowing what to do. And, of course, the ones that were interrupted on the clock and their horribly shamed customers. Arriving 15 minutes earlier, could've been me. Scary on a level second only to a false alarm where the chick literally ran out the room leaving everything behind, including me in a semi-dazed oh-shit moment. I guess this is what happens when a shop is out of the loop on knowing when to ease off, as a lot of the larger shops in the surrounding area were closed. A small place run by a group of younger dudes, but with decent security. An elaborate false wall door hiding the business wing but an equal number of "normal" rooms to throw off suspicion. Just a reminder that there's never a thing as too safe.
Going to take forever to find a replacement, this place was the best by miles I'd ever found. Anyone know where else you can pay 180 for an hour with showers, a real massage, BJ and FS? Have to assume this shop's going to be out of commission for months considering the police up and sealed it off. And the extra kick in the pants is that all the next go-tos are down for at least a week.

As I rode my bicycle around the Meilong neighborhood with its plethora of such establishments, I noticed that there were three on the street behind the Metro supermarket. All with curtains drawn and lights out, but you could still see the flickering light of a TV coming from the transom above the door.
I stopped across and down the street, wanting to see how and if business was still being conducted in this situation, when TWO police cars pulled up and seven cops in full gear with reflective vests jumped out like Ringling Brothers clowns, and proceeded to storm one establishment. No one was hauled out in handcuffs, and the cops emerged shortly and stood on the sidewalk for a few minutes until 4 or 5 girls (now attired in trenchcoats) and a couple guys walked out and walked away, heads hung. One guy then emerged from the now fully-darkened shop and locked the door from the outside, and chatted in a relaxed manner with the police.
I have a feeling if I had gone in there, at least my visa would be in trouble. All be careful.

There is a summit (CICA) happening from May 20-22nd hosted by President XI, attended by Zcar Putin, Iranian President Hoshani, Ban Ki Moon from the UN etc etc etc.
Traffic restrictions will be enforced (ie. No cars on the Bund!)
Rest assured that the attendees will get the full attention and services needed.

Two days ago I went to my favorite HE massage place (Spring). Only veggie massage on menu. I asked for how long. Until end of this week.
I then did a walk up Shanxi lu past kanding lu towards changping. All the BBS curtains closed and doors shut. But none of them had locks on the doors. But it was daytime, so couldn't see if anyone inside.
And then at the corner of changping and shanxi is the famous sleezy massage joint where you can get FS for like 200. It was dark and doors shut.
Chatting with a few of my regular girls on weixin and confirm what was said below. They were all told to take holiday.
I ended up going to a non-HE massage joint that is hit or miss if they offer. I was lucky and had a bubbly fun girl. It helped I had a massive hard one when I flipped over from the back massage. It was almost poking out of the top of my blue paper shorts. Had to pay 200 tip, but worth it given the current situation. And it was a fabulous ending. Going to see her again tomorrow since no other options.
At least in the case I saw, employees and customers alike were mainly just pushed out so they could seal the shop up. Put one of those bike locks on the door and taped some notice across the front, I suppose indicating that the business was revoked. Then again, it looked like everyone involved was local so who knows what would happen if a foreigner got mixed up? Tried going around to see how things looked today, and far more places were closed than before; even the ones that were operating in blackout mode emptied out early probably 7-730 p last call so doors locked at 8. Anyone know when this is all over? Got to start looking for a new haunt now that previous one's shut down.

So a few days ago, I decided I'd cool off with a quick head massage / hair wash at a local Yongqi salon. In I go, big smile, sit down and ask for the hair wash. Over comes a girl, nothing too special (maybe a 6, 6.5). Now. I have a beard, and I am a big guy. And she's kind of small. So I scrunch down in the chair and smile broadly, and she giggles a bit and smiles back. Yeah, this will be good!
So she's washing my hair, massaging my scalp, and I point to my beard. She looks at me like "huh?" and I take a little soap and rub it into my beard (shortly trimmed) - to which she, and the girl next to her, burst out in laughter. But you know what. She does soap up the beard and wash it too! A little more banter and laughing with each other, and she's rinsing me off (used a moist towel to get the beard) and I decide what the heck. I want the accupressure massage. It's just 100 RMB. And can she do it. To which she says yes!
So we go to the back room, and I plop on a table. It's nothing special. You keep your clothes on, and she does a solid 6 out of 10 massage. But, she's kneeling on me, sitting on me, stretching over me. And we're talking and goofing off the whole time. About 45 minutes into it, I ask her for her number. And she just rattles it off like it's nothing. Great!
Two days later, I text her. What time do you get off? Want dinner? I am hungry. She responds she is off at 8 PM and would like to eat. So I meet her at the store at 8 PM, we walk to a nearby Thai restaurant, have a good meal and some more giggles and clowning around. As we're walking back, I ask right out (got to love China. It's rather forward and brusque, no offense) if she'd like to come to my apartment? Now, during dinner I asked a few questions about her living situation - 4 girls (3 of them at the Yongqi) in a 1 bedroom apartment of 65 square meters. And I mentioned I have a 2 bedroom apartment that is 135 square meters, with a nice big bathtub. So yeah. I asked, and she accepted.
Ten minutes later, we're walking into my front door. Twenty minutes later, we're showering together. And I drew her a hot bath as well to relax in after our shower. Then to bed, and she stayed the night.
Best part. I got a text the next morning saying "thank you the bath and night were very nice". Nothing after that, for 2 days. Until I just texted her again this evening, asking once again if she'd like to come over. And the reply back of "Yes" took all of 10 seconds.
So freebies are still plentiful, even if the parlors are shut down. And sometimes you have to look at the non-traditional places as well.
There is a sign in the doorway to Malone's stating that in light of the conference on Asian security and co-operation next week Malone's will close at midnight from the 19th to the 22nd. While I was reading this a (what had to be) plainclothes policeman came up to me smiling and explaining it. I told him I knew about the conference and he said that it would be back to normal on the 23rd.
Reading between the lines maybe; they are not being heavy but it might be a good idea to lie low from 19th to 22nd next week?
Far fewer girls than before and they won't approach you. No soliciting. But if you approach them, you may find that you make friends quite easily.
