Colombia doesn't have an active mortgage market like the US or Europe. Banks lend on properties with a substantial down payment and at very high interest rates. Not the issue that stopped me, since I would have paid cash. But if you had ever studied finance you would know the question to ask.

[/QUOTE]When you try to sell the buyer and seller realestate agent will work together to rip you off and split the proceeds. When you are ready to sell you will be in a far larger rush to sell than the speed you spent to buy. They know they have you in a time vise and they will squeeze you.

I knew a guy in Pattaya Thailand who bought a condo to live and invest in. 10 years later the Russians moved into the area. His condo is now worth half.

In the Philippines your new neighbor is a family of 9 (mom, dad, 3 boys, 2 girls, grandmother, grandfather). Another example is new neighbors move in and have barking dogs or 3 pet roosters you now get to hear every morning for hours on end. Or they have a videoake and sings songs all night everytime there is a holiday or birthday or just because.
