They are unlikely to be willing to go upstairs, put it on and come back to join you in the bar or outside. But in the room would be fine. The other thing you can do is take an item of clothing with you. I felt it very safe to walk, also after midnight. 10 minutes of walking is good for you after hours of punting. If the closest hotels are occupied, I would use the S-bahn, also feels very safe.
