Things like the foreign bro beaten up near Nana BTS happened before. I remember a big muscular guy severely beaten up by a couple of Thai men at NEP a few years ago. What happened? Two nights before this guy took a girl from one of the NEP-bars to his hotel, had sex with her, but did not pay her. The night after he did the same, I. E. Had sex with a gal without paying. Now the third night: when he got to the bar a couple of little Thai welcomed him and kicked the shit out of him. Sad but. I don't know.
This incident posted on several Thai blogs I am told by my little friends.
Of course, with my track record, I may have slugged the farang myself ...
Most Thai are not aggressive unless under severe provocation but a drunk angry farang will hit the buttons for that sort of response.
This week in BKK I saw a number of farang's behaving badly.
There was a German or Austrian guy in the BG on Monday who was drunk. He approached several girls who cold shouldered him and then went to touch up a quieter lady who sits at the back bar. She told him to go away and then moved herself to sit opposite where I was. He followed with a string of abuse. I ordered the lady a drink and stood up at which time the BG security arrived and kicked him out.
He was later seen picking a fight at a bar on Sukumvit road. I don't think it was the same guy as described below, who was apparently American
Another guy was trying to loudly negotiate anal sex with several girls, none of which were keen to provide: "I will get my friend for you!". Seemed reasonable but would not take no for an answer and then go irate. He went off in a huff.
Some guys have no idea how to behave.
GREAT SUCCESS!!!! He saved 4 dollars! Sounds too fuckin stupid to save it any other way.
Always walk away from trouble even if you are right. You will never win a fight or argument with locals.
You sure that wasn't the man himself? ;)
Mick Lurker? Anything is possible in BKK.
On the subject of girls from that precinct, I met couple this week.
On the described night, I was watching the scene quietly and moved to sit next to a cute Isaan girl. Her name is Beer, from Sisaket. I asked her if this was her garden, she said "Nooo, but i get bought a lot of beer here - Man come up, ask name, I say Beer, they buy one but I can only drink half, I give to my friends." Nice. She is 22 yo, speaks minimal English, has a killer body, slim but with shape and when we got back in the room, young breasts to die for. In any case, really nice girl, whose eyes light up when she smiles. She only does BG during the day, as she has a 2 yo child to look after on the outskirts of BKK. She drives a hard bargain - I wanted ST for 1200 THB and moved to 1500 THB, she would not budge from 2000 THB. Eventually settled on 1500GHB with 500THB if I was happy.
I took her and friend Lek (29 yo dark skinned girl from Surin with high cheek bones and very expressive face) en duplas for 3+ hours. Excellent. I was happy.
Repeated with Lek next day taking some time just to watch the scene at Thermae in the evening - interesting, Japanese guys numbers are down and there was an excess of SYTs even looking at OWGs like me. I was saving myself for a next day daytime with Beer. She showed up early and we had the day together - really nice. I will see her again on next visit.
So much for girls from Sisaket
Yep, and to think some idiot Farangs worship these sons of bitches to the point of wanting to be "accepted" because they Wai and talk the lingo... fuck that. No matter how hard one tries to "blend in" (no really sure why people would want to but...) it will be impossible. You are and ALWAYS will be "the Farang", that's it.
Be smart about it, be proud of your roots, come here, live a good life, get some money, fuck the honeys and that's it. Don't be stupid enough to get mixed with a chick and make her a turd (baby). One day or another, you will regret it.
Anyhow, TIT. Where is OTH? damn he would have loved to answer this post.
Your funny Frenchy.... You almost sound constipated.
One day I thought I understood Thailand, then I woke up :D
I've started to think it is funny how some folks want to be accepted as well. Thai is the only country never to be conquered by an outside force if I'm not mistaken. They can fight all they want amongst themselves that they want to (what is it 14 coups in their history), but they sure as shit know how to keep the foreigners in their place, out of their country, and separated. Back stabbing, lying SOB's IMHO. Once a foreigner gets too high up the food chain or starts to act or think they can not be replaced,,, wham they are out of there. Once you think you got a GF who is honest and truthful, wham, she's out the door. But damn I love the the place and the isaan girls :D
For me, it is not the thai people that are dangerous. Understand you are visitor and the thai will never respect you (even your TGF, their friends, their families, etc...). If it gets better and they do respect you then GREAT and wonderful but start with an understanding that you are just a piece of shit (with a wallet) so you don't get hurt or disillusioned. A girl who loves you for 10 years can walk out that door in a minute with all your property and savings if she so chooses and you can't do shit about it half the time. Saying all the negative, things can work out, you can get a good job, life, and girl but it ain't easy. Just don't expect it to happen quickly, easily or painlessly.
What is dangerous are the foreigners who think they know all about thai they are the dangerous ones in Thailand. The foreigners that come and marry / date / keep / rent whatever a bar girl / start a business or whatever you want to call it and they become instant experts on everything.
Unfortunately I have to work with a few of those. And I accept the fact the more I go to Thailand, the longer I work there, the more girls i support (I won't even call it dating :D ), the fucking less I know and understand.

I had to travel to Thailand over 20 years about 6 times every year. In 1997 I even lived there for one year. But this one year was enough for me to understand that this will never be the place I want to live and work (I had illusions about this until I tried).
For me LOS (Land of Scams) is the land of the 3 F's. Find them before they find you, Fuck them before they fuck you and Forget them before they forget you.

I’d be willing to bet that if I went to France, (or just about any other country for that matter), acting like an American, (which I can hardly help from doing because I am one), not knowing how to speak French, the natives would treat me like a piece of shit with a wallet.
The reason why I’ve done fairly well living here the last two years is the fact that I keep a low profile; do not try to be accepted; do not want to be accepted; do not care about being accepted, and only want to live in my own little world, fucking the little sweethearts and letting them go.

Exactly... you don't care what they think about you and you are not trying to be accepted. The dangerous people as I said are...
"" The foreigners that come and marry / date / keep / rent whatever a bar girl / start a business or whatever you want to call it and they become instant experts on everything. ""

These posts are great to read. I will pass them to my other friends as we will be first time visitors.
The good thing is that we don't drink so hopefully this will stop us from doing stupid things. The other thing is that since we are new to Thailand, we will be unlikely to get into trouble since we will probably be very timid and are willing to pay rather than get into any argument.
By the way, Tansak TV, thanks for your help.

No worries about it those med's I can get easy and are legal in my part of the world, just enjoy your trip. :D
Its probably all a bit off topic but anyway, as it will be of use to people visiting Bangkok.
You have nothing to worry about. Thailand is a great place and your average visitor will have a wonderful time and want to come back again and again.
However when you come back too much, or stay too long, then Thailand can get the better of some Farangs. They end up hating the people, hating the culture, hating the place and try to endure it by pathetically believing that fucking lots of Thai girls is some kind of way back at all things Thailand they hate.
These people, of limited intelligence or limited patience or both, cannot deal with life in Thailand. They should not be here but they are as deep down they love the place even if their brain presently thinks they hate all things Thai apart from fucking the girls.
Sounds strange, it is, but beleive me you will see these people all over the place.
I have lived here 20 years, never had a problem myself. But I am one of these "under the radar" types who happily gets on with what I want. Therefore I am happy.
Those that get into "mind trouble" tend to be the "me me me" kind of person who expects people to do things their way, to change as they said so. These kind of, in a way, arrogant and ignorant people will always be unhappy wherever they are, be it Thailand or India or where ever.
Getting back to the point at hand, vsiting and living in Thailand is easy.
Simple rules:
Never insult a Thai. Its their country and you are a visitor.
Never use threatening behaviour with Thai's (Asians). This causes a loss of face and will spark a fight.
Never slap or threaten to slap a girl. All Thai men will help out their women.
Never lose your cool or shout. Always deal with a problem with a big smile. Keep smiling but do not give up your argument, just smile and keep saying it in a cool way, never raise your voice.
Thai men can hit Thai girls and vice-versa, thats ok, its their country not yours.
The above are basic rules for most Asian countries. Its just more people come to Thailand so there are more chance of "bad eggs" coming here.
Keep away from the expats, its well worth doing. I have lived here 20 years and avoid them like the plague. Too many of these are in "mind problem" category and have become "problems" themselves as they simply cannot understand Thailand but think they know it all.
You will have a really good time, thats pretty certain, do not worried at all, just be yourself. If you are a decent person who does not pick fights for no reason, who does not use foul and abusive language as thats all you know how to say, who does not get drunk and get abusive to women, who does not try to run away from unpaid bar bills etc. Then you will have a great time.

Some of you may remember that I had posted that I could not sleep on the long oversea flight and was asking for advice and help.
Didn't see your original request but here is what I am doing on long haul flights.
I start with a Scotish juice and continue with two French ones with my dinner. Then I take half of a "STILNOX" sleeping pill that will provide 4-6 hrs of good sleep.
I also use ear plugs as well as a mask and a neck pillow if not in the business class.
Then I take half of a "STILNOX" sleeping pill that will provide 4-6 hrs of good sleep.
Stilnox is Zolpidem which is also known to others as Ambien depending where you are from.

Hummmm this is the first time we see eye to eye on the same issue it seems like... I guess the world is coming to an end :D
It is best to enjoy your thing with your friends not worry what other people's opinions are or what they say.

In other words, even if you just act like a half way decent normal person from anywhere in the world you will have a great time.
Thanks guys for the feedback. I don't think we will have problem in Thailand. We have been traveling to China for the past 10 years so while we are new to Thailand, we are not new to the hobby.
I think all Asians have the same Face thing so we can handle that.
We are there to have fun and We always know that we are guests in their country. Most Chinese in China do not like us because we have more money than they do, they only allow us there because they need our money so we do tread lightly and try not to make them feel that we are better than they are or flash our money around.
