I just got back from 10 days in Cartagena. I wanted to give the rundown of my trip.

As I have been to every city in Colombia, I decided to have my first extended stay in CTG. It was well worth it. The weather was extremely hot and humid. Even at 3 am, I was dripping with sweat. So if you are going, bring deodorant.
I stayed in Laguito at Juan's apartment. I would never stay in BocaGrande or Hollywood if you paid me. This place is quiet and they treated me like a king.

At the end of Calle 1 in Laguito there is a restaurant on the beach called El Muelle. They have beach chairs and umbrellas that are free, as long as you spend 20,000 pesos. The beaches in Bocagrande charge 30,000 and the hotels charge 70,000.
I could spend 20,000 in my first 20 minutes, so it was no big deal. Also, the beach is a little more quiet and less touristy, so there are not as many vendors. It was much better than all the other beaches. But you can also get a beach chair, upstairs in the restaurant. This way, you are overlooking the whole beach and the vendors are not allowed to to come in the restaurant. Also, they had reggae music playing all day and the waiters are really great. This was a game changer for me. It made going to the beach so much better and I really suggest it. The food is solid and the drinks are reasonable.
