10 days in Asuncion in May 2015
I spent ten days in Asuncion in mid May 2015. Weather was a mix of rain and sunshine. Rainy day maximums about 22 degrees Celcius, and sunny day maximums about 29 degrees Celcius. No need for Aircon at this time, as at night it is cool. Exchange rate at the time about 5000 Guaranies = $1 usd.
Casas tried.
838 Iturbe: I liked this casa the best. Reasonable selection of chicks. 80 k G's= half HR. Bathrooms not attached to the rooms. Some bathrooms with hot water shower.
1008 14 de Mayo: Deseos Agency: this is quite the *house with blaring music and dim lighting. Close to Excelsior mall. Tried Myra= good. Is open 24 hrs and the chicks after 6 pm are "lindas" according to Myra. Bathroom not attached to the room. 100 k G's for half HR.
903 Caballeros: About 7 chicks work here and 3 were presented to me on my visit. Took Paula= okay but could not do flatdog. 80 k G's = half hour. Has a ground floor bathroom with hot water shower.
Cerro Cora 462: must be closed as there is a guesthouse there now called "Diane's Inn".
905 Azara: First floor Door A. Visited but was presented with 2 fat chicks so I declined.
Cerro Cora 313: closed. There is a sign on the door indicating a move to 871 Cerro Cora but this is also closed.
Hotel:
I stayed at Hotel Miami across from Plaza Uruguaya, at Mexico 449. This hotel is good value and because I did not need aircon the room only cost 70 k G's (14 usd). Has hot water shower, but was a bit low pressure sometimes. Room size about 24 square metres so quite big. Some street noise as the hotel is only one floor above street level but this never bothered me. Good security as the front door is always locked and the staff will let you in and out. I was able to put some groceries in the fridge in the common area and also get some hot water from the jug, but otherwise cooking there is not allowed.
Has good wifi which always worked even in the room furthest from reception. TV all in Spanish, except for maybe one movie channel. No English speaking news channels.
It won't be girl friendly as it is run by a respectable old couple.
Other information:
You can drink the water from the tap in Asuncion. No problem with this. I did.
There are no hookers around Plaza Uruguaya. I never saw any.
There is no toilet paper shortage in Asuncion. Plenty available in the stores.
Food situation is quite good. Recommended eating at the porkilo places on the top floor food court of Mall Excelsior (on Chile near Piribebuy): Copacabana porkilo is best, and Fugaline not far behind. Price per kilo = 52 k G's (10.40 usd). There is also a Burger King here one floor down, and a Pizza Hut on the ground floor. "STOCK" supermarket is in the basement where you can get all your groceries. Also the El Pais supermarket on the corner of 25 de Mayo and Independencia Nacional (across from Plaza Uruguaya) has a cheap but good porkilo restaurant on the top floor for 30.9 k G's / kg.
I got my visa on arrival at the airport in Asuncion. Cost $135 usd (for Australians). Varying rates for other nationalities.
Taxi from airport to Centro was 110 k G's (= $22 usd).
Buses around town = 2. 3 k G's (0. 46 usd). Take Bus 30 from along Cerro Cora to get to Mall del Sol. Takes about 20 minutes. Mall Del Sol has some great eating places in the food court, including McD's, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Dominos.
Best to bring USD to Paraguay if you want to use cash to exchange. Euros okay too. But don't bring Aussie Dollars as the spread is quite huge. They were offering 2700 G's for one AUD when the real rate was about 4000.
Looks like the maximum available from the ATM's is 1,500,000 Guaranies (about $300 usd).
There is an ATM at the airport (Banco Familiar) after you pass through customs and Immigration). No problem to get 1. 5 million G's from this ATM.
Do not change money at the money changer in the baggage collection area at the airport. They only offer 4000 G's to 1 USD. Whereas once you clear customs the money changer outside will offer the correct rate of about 5000 G's to one USD.
If you need a Brazilian visa you can get one in one day at the Consulate here. Need a bank statement with at least $1 k USD balance. Tickets (or maybe just an itinerary only) in and out. One passport photo with a white background. You can do the application form on the computer at the consulate which will generate a number. The Consulate is on Mcal Estigarribia between Gral Aquino and Mayor Freitas. It is not the Embassy which is 3 blocks away. If you go to the Embassy they will direct you to the Consulate. If you have all of your documentation ready before 10 am they will do the visa ready for pickup later in the day they told me. I think opening hours are 8 am to 1 pm.
Overall the girls in the casas were okay. Some were a bit reserved. None allowed any photos unfortunately. Having just come from quite a long stay in Medellin, I must say the girls in Asuncion were a bit of a letdown, compared to the Colombianas. But still okay, and I suppose I only tried 5 girls in Asuncion. Girls in Colombia seem more beautiful, and were generally better performers. I doubt that I will ever return to Asuncion just for the sex as the place is pretty boring. And it must be atrociously hot in summer so I am glad I missed that.
Review of Asuncion Palace Hotel
I always end up staying at this hotel, though its not necessarily the best choice. One of the biggest problems with Asuncion is shortage of mid range hotels. The mid range decent hotels are often sold out especially if one is looking for a room on short notice.
The hotel is located in El centro. A taxi to most of the privados in el centro from this hotel costs 12000 guarani almost like 2 usd or 2. 5 usd.
The rooms are very basic but clean and smell good and have fresh air possibilities with most rooms having a large balcony.
One of the best things is extremely polite staff at front desk and at housekeeping.
The worst problem here is the lack of quality internet connection. Though WiFi works superbly. The internet is down 50% of the time. I have noticed this pattern several times in several stays. The only way to counter this problem is to have a good roaming data package or get a local sim card and use your phone as a hot spot.
Hot water available and yes the the hotel is 100% chica friendly. No problem with that.
I am staying in a twin room this visit as the other rooms are sold out. I am paying 40 usd a night and if I have a chica over for 1 hour or 1 night I have to pay 48 usd a night.
One other problem with this hotel is that it has no security boxes (room safes).
The location of the hotel is good as it has a taxi stand next to it so taxis available 24/7.
Another problem with the room is no "charging" plug points. One has to disconnect the TV or the fridge to charge ones laptop or the cellphone!
In last one year, El centro has become a hot spot for night life. If this interests you! I found that the area like Villa Morra is better for day time going to malls. But for going to the privados and night life, El Centro is the very best. So this hotel fits in well in the scheme of things.
Other Hotels. One of the most popular hotels in the city is IBIS located next to Sheraton building at 80 usd a night. I understand its perpetually sold out! Its almost a wild goose chase trying to get a room there! Its in the posh area of the city close to malls.
Another very popular hotel is 'Hotel Maison Suisse'. Always rated at top on internet searches as a hotel of choice in Asuncion. I went to have a look at it. I did not like it. Looked very claustrophobic and extremely small. Lack of privacy. Only 55 usd a night and located far from the Privados. I do not recommend.
Hope this helps.
Review of restaurant 'Bolsi in El centro
Its one of the best restaurants in El Centro.
However, more than the food, its a excellent place for girl watching and possibly meeting girls (non pros) along with a wing man.
Its located on Estrella 399 and around 5 blocks from Asuncion Palace Hotel, a very easy walk.
It has a extensive menu and almost anything you order, is served perfectly with a finesse of a 5 star restaurant. However, the prices are not 5 star and its very easy to enjoy a very heavy meal with beer and cafe, and not pay more than 15-20 usd.
Anytime you go there, you will spot at least 4 or 5 hot looking chicas (mostly with their bfs) but it makes you actually enjoy yr stay in Asuncion as you can see the possibilities the city has, out of the "privado scene"!
The sitting is vast with indoor and outdoor options but the the restaurant is perpetually full. Do not expect to find a seat on arrival. Be prepared to wait for at least 15 minutes every time you go.
I heard the restaurant is open 24/7 but I have not tested it. But I believe its true.
Next time you are in Asuncion, do not forget to go for a meal here and do 'girl watching'. Highly recommended!
Paraguay site double price as Colombia
Though very poor country 8. 800 USD, half of brasil, Argentina, Chile and even Venezuela: the putas at.
The site.

Are incredibly high. <all girls are hot, but Colombias rae too, even I must say these was the best lookinggirls I saw on a escort site for normal income western guys.
How can anyone in Paraguay afford 900 k for a universitaria, it corresponds, to 400 mil colombian pesos, and thet seemd to be the standard.
Answer might be; is a small country; only the lite visit them, while it's so common in Colombia that the supply of girls, in metripolis anonimous cities becoms low, and the recession.
Ukraine prices are due to mafia control beautiful, but noot worth the price.
AA says; only poor girls becomes putas in Paraguay. And the normal girls are guarded by BF or circle of friends.
It's much a overprices country. I thought Paraguay, just like north-wset Argentina was cheap, hot relaex, but the girl can not compete with the pataguayas, even les the porteñas, that are the least attractive girl of all in ALtin America, besides the hopeless case Paru.
Colombia has a funcionate market economy and a young population, anonimity, stigma is esy to escape; move to another big city; thus there are few high-class putas in Paraguay.
In Medellin females are stunningly, beautifulk, but many looks ordinary, that is so about all of us in every country.
The style of paisas (medellin) of other cities; you can approach and get her phone number.
At Cupid a met a 19 yo electronic univeristy student, her 33 brother brought her to my apartment in Laureles. It was nothing.
I stick to Fran casio's "Paradise Medellin" . Strategy. Now with recession and exchange att over 3000 for a USD, it's a bargain.
Yes. Paraguay winns in beauty. But going 10.000 kmts to have sex at prices that you get even lower in Prague of buckarest or Germany, not the same quality, but yes, it happens according to reports; the Paraguay dream dropped off.
Question is; how can such beauties be poor. They are amazingly beatiful!
http://www.photoprepagos.com/ in Colombia among other sites, this being enormous with 1000's of independent, only in Medellin like 400!
Mja, Paraguay have a lot of favor-prostitution. Between two persons. But in Medellin it's quiet impossible to find a sexy girl that does not look for Money, up to 35 even 40 year old, due to the sciences miracels, while paragy¿uayas seems all natural + working out.
So, yes, it's a loss in super Top 10-quality, but it's not worth it.
Jack Sparrow's post not accurate
Jack Sparrow was looking up escorts and as always, the prices are high and higher if it is a foreigner. He did not try the apartments where he would find gems for next to nothing. As not many foreigners come here, the prices in Paraguay are the cheapest in Latin America. Do your research next time you go to Paraguay. Strangely, most up to date information on the apartments in Paraguay is on the Argentina thread. Just to let you know, there are some very wealthy people in Asuncion too and they can afford to pay high priced call girls.
