I never went to biz-school, but I know stupid when I see it.

On the brazilian boards, like Hotforum, Mosaic and other periferia termas are consistently getting a lot of commentary, a good sign. If Zona Sul termas are overflowing with (prospective) oil dinero.

Nobody said that Florida Bar is dodgy. I think Cartman meant that the Praça Mauá area is scary at night.
IMO Praça Mauá and most of the centro is very deserted at night, but not particulary unsafe.
Going to Mosaico is the same as going to Vila Mimosa.
landed in 4x4 just after the 5pm deadline. as expected very busy thursday evening with 2:1 or more guys to girls in the boate. waited for around 3 beers for the girls on my list but none were to be seen and then picked agatha, a mulata with a face very slightly better than sarah jessica parker but a very nice body with natural tits and bubble butt as i didn't want to chance t502. this was the first time in about 8 visits that i didn't have to buy the girl a drink (because an elderly gentleman doing some tyre-kicking had done that for me). she seemed a bit distracted but i was back in bundaland after a 3-month abstinence and when she said she was a completa, decided to make the the girl friend of the evening. once i said vamos, she went to hug and kiss her friends, dunno why they do it.
had a wait for the cabine and she didn't bother changing and undressed. only two tattoos, quite less by 4x4 standards? nice smooth body, thought she was 20 and she said 24, from salvador. did the usual sucky fucky and then she surprised me in getting it up the second time despite the jetlag and i rewarded her by sticking it into her pooper. she said no photos.
pros : nice body, didn't pressure to get a suite or redbull or any drink for that matter, completa.

Was in Centro in the evening. Wanted to go to T502 but was lugging around quite some gear and decided they would be relatively safer in a 4x4 locker and it was only 4. 30 PM so I thought I might finally get to use the 5 PM entrada promotion (didn't). There was a group of young American brothers from LA and boy, did they look happy! Went up to the rest area and tried to rest after walking all day long and then opened my eyes to find a huge naked local who was only slightly less hairy than a bear.
Came back down to the boite to be tapped by various boltons, some of them are quite hard. Looked around for Estefany #2, found Estefany #1 by the third beer. Good!
While chatting with her before going to the room, got the news that two of my favorites have left, one back home to Santa Catarina and the other is out of the game. Unlike yesterday, it wasn't too busy and even though we were in the room for more than an hour by my watch, there was no knock or call. The session was good enough to make me want to go home and sleep. I don't find this kind of sex back home and this justifies the time and money for coming to Rio for me. As Bubba Boy says, it takes just one girl to turn the evening into a spectacular one. Went back into the boite to get some water and quench my thirst and the show inside was on, with the usual milling around. Have to try one of the bolt-on beauties sometime, I keep alternating between a liking for girl-next-door types and the slutty ones.
Other stuff :
I walked at a leisurely pace to Cinelandia, saw a group of protesters against political corruption in the square. There was a guy on a truck parked nearby speaking rather passionately but no was giving a fuck. The group was trying to burn an effigy and I went closer to take some pictures. There were about 2-3 serious folks and the rest were kids having a bit of a laugh, just trying to throw stuff into the fire. Some just threw a notice or two and then buggered off. I think they need more practice at burning stuff.
Today morning I was out for a jog and near Sofitel a well-dressed old man got out from a minivan and crossed the road ahead of me. Just then a Polo / Golf screeched around the corner and while passing him rolled down the windows and the kids inside screamed at him. Could have been influenced by the Heavy Metal playing. The old man just gave a 'kids-these-days' kind of look, smiled and carried on. Early morning WTF.
On the walk back from Leme (my route goes from the Fort to the Leme end and then walk back) passed Balcony and a couple of GDPs walked towards me and another local looking at the sea. One of them shaked her rather big boltons at us and got a slight raise from me and a perplexed look from the bystander. Wished I had locked up everything in my room. I will check out the Leme zoo tonight and if it sucks, then may be Florida.

Buses generally 24hrs most routes, but become infrequent after midnight.

Going to Rio for the first time January 15th.
I've been searching and lloking for these things but couldn't find much.
- Is there any massage parlours that you can recommend or how would I find them? (whats the price range?)
- Is there any privates around town or are thermas the only option (whats the price range for these?)
Replies would be greatly appreciated.

If any of you can wear slightly upscale clothes. Even jeans and a polo shirt. And have the time to kill, allow me to sing the praises of Esch Cafe's outpost in Centro. It's conveniently located on the same street as T65 (Rua Rosario, I think) , about half a block towards 65 from Rio Branco. It's all old dark wood, exposed brick, and Rio elite doing business. It's a cigar cafe, and they have a nice if pricey humidor (think Cubans in the R$40-R$55 range and up). Great mixed drinks. Really good filet mignon steak sandwich with quejo and salada. Except it's pricey (R$40). Still if you are in the neighborhood (4x4 is 1 block away. 502 is 1 block away. 65 is 1 block away) , and you want to indulge a bit on a trip, give it a whirl. I spent 3. 5 hours there on Friday night and didn't even make it to 65! LOL, that said 65 would have been cheaper!
FYI they close early every weeknight (by 7pm-8pm) except Friday. Not open weekends.
By the way, GREAT espresso too.

Why not try Florida bar? Florida can be very good or totally dead. You could head to Praça Mauá after work, have a beer at the Filipino Bar and then go to Florida Bar. Session upstairs or next door at Puma Motel.

The Filipino Bar has been demolished and the whole area is under construction. As I've reported before, the Praça Mauá area is undergoing gentrification. Read lots of new office buildings. On a recent visit to Rio in October, I was amazed at some of the changes to the once lively nightspot. The area is pretty dead now, with a Brazilian Jazz Bar (albeit fairly expensive place) , being the only recent addition to the area.
As for Florida Bar, IMHO is also a shell of its former self and the talent was terrible. No real new talent to speak off and many of the old hags where still there and sitting around being as lazy as ever.
In years past, I usually spent a lot of time in the Praça Mauá area, but for the 4-weeks that I was in Rio, I spent probably less than two (2) hours total in the Praça Mauá. There's no longer a vibrant P4P scene there and I have my doubts if Bar Florida will be there for much longer.
[B]Things not so good on my last visit to Rio:[/B]
• Balcony. Nothing more to say that hasn't already been said. Just more off the same crap.
• The high prices of just most everything from açai to busceta.
• GDP attitudes.
• Continuing Lack of P4P clubs and nightlife in the evenings in Copa or Centro.
[B]Things I did enjoy on my last visit to Rio:[/B]
• Downtown boites / casas (still pretty good value)
• Downtown T's (4x4 and 2-Tier T's) (BTW, for those of you who are fans of Terma Aeroporto, it will be re-opening soon, in the new year)
• Lapa on the Weekends.
• Free Jazz / Bohemian music concerts in the theatre square by Tridentes on Wednesdays (good place to meet local / tourists girls (albeit a bit on the hippy side of life).
• Having drinks on the ferry to Niteroi and having hours of fun in the 5-6 story GDP fun-houses on Av. Ernani do Amaral Peixoto. Had more fun there, than most T's in Rio, for the first time in a long time and at a fiction of the cost. YMMV, as you'll need to knock on a few doors to find the gems, but they are there.
• VM was still OK for a beer and a few hours of fun on slower nights, but quality is hard to find. It has a new an upscale boate (I forget the name, Black & White, I think?) , with R$20 entrada, where the girls seem to be nicer quality.
• R$4, 50mg generic Viagra (by Teuto, in most Drogaria store pharmacists) , which I found worked amazingly well, for up to 2-2. 5 hrs and 1-1. 5hrs if I halved the dosage. What a bargain!
All-in-all decent trip for last minute planning, but not memorable, as in past years.
