U2004[/QUOTE]This is my favorite Thai restaurant by a landslide. FANTASTIC food and a really interesting atmosphere. It is like going to a seafood market, picking out your life fish and/or shellfish and then getting to custom order its preparation.

It is sort of an experience as well as FANTASTIC food. My favorite is the baby clams in chili sauce.

It is on Soi 24 (next to the Emporium) so take the Phrom Pong BTS exit. It is walking distance from the BTS but it is a good 200-300 yards down. Keep walking and you can't miss the giant neon sign that hangs over the road.

And you will pass several very tempting massage parlors. Most of them seem to cater to the Japanese tourists so they may be very expensive.

All the upper class thais keep getting richer and his only way of getting a quick money grab is to try and overcharge a foreigner. Being spoiled by other foreigners for so long and now he's finally getting the proper resistance from you, he's only angry at his pathetic existence. He has to take it out on someone. He is low and will always be low.

Seems what is happening now is that there are certain bars that allow smoking. It's irritating as hell, but I used to smoke heavily in the old days and now try to stay cool with it (sucks doesn't it?)

Bangkok farang bars example:

Soi Cowboy Bacarra Bar = smoking upstairs, no smoking downstairs.

NEP Mandarin = ditto

NEP Rainbow 1,3,4 no smoking, Rainbow 2 OK.

Things seem to be hashing themselves out this way all over.

For example I enjoy eating at the cafe opposite the BierGarden on Soi 7, and the advantage is that there are plenty of working girls who will happily share their table with you. Sometimes I feel guilty about chatting to a girl in the BierGarden if I have no intention of taking her out, but in the cafe they are slightly off duty. Catch an eye, offer them a drink, and they'll invite you to share a table. But beware, last time I was persuaded very much against my better judgement to take one lady back for an afternoon massage :).

My other regular cafe is on the corner of Soi 3 - about as cheap and cheerful as you can get! Actually I find my appetite disappears for a few days after arriving in a hot climate, so I'm usually down to one meal per day with plenty of fruit etc bought on the street.

Another ex smoker.... Office Bar I can not go to on Soi 33 due to the large qty of smoke. I also know some hot ladies with great talent that have left working there due to the qty of smoke in the place.

Giving some bars credit on Soi 33 (without name dropping :D ) many of the bars have stayed smoke free even if the owners smoke. I find it amusing the owners having to sit their arse outside of their own places to light up.

Personally I can still stand next to a smoker and not be offended by it, when I am in a bar full of smoke and smokers or hotel rooms that people had smoked in, IE stale smoke, I about throw up. That was the main reason I avoided NEP in the past the closed spaces and large qty of smoke before.

I found that the P4P scene in Japan, depending where you go, to be completely devoid of action. More Nigerian then Japanese available to foreigners in some areas. Atleast where I've been.

Further, if you nail your own nationality all day long every day... don't you want some variety? Why not circle the Asian Rim and taste the various ladies....

I'd hate to eat one type of girl / food for the rest of my life.

I'm at one of my favorite go-go bars last night. There are large red "NO SMOKING" signs everywhere ... the guy next to me pulls out a cigarette and lights up ... a waitress puts an ashtray in front of him ... the smoke wafts into my face ... I'm gagging.

Laws are meant to be broken in the LOS.

Went to the Bier Garden on Soi 7 last night.

Not sure if it is because it was a slow weeknight or if the number of mongering tourists is down, but I was offered several ST for less than 1,000 baht. The working girls wanted to do some business last night.

The beauty of the Bier Garden is the low price and zero bar fines.

There are also tons of girls standing on Sukhumvit too in the same area. The quality appeared much less than in the Bier Garden though.

Tell me if this observation is different than your experiences. I believe the most beautiful girls are found in Soi Cowboy. Tilac, Bacarra, and Sharks have some spectacularly beautiful girls. Expensive...but beautiful.

Yep, no smoking in our bar since the law was in place 1.5 years ago. And I am surprised, that so many bars still allow smoking inside, here in Soi 33.

Where is the problem to walk 10 m and smoke outside the bar, even having a chat with other smokers around there?

It is so nice to walk into a nice air con bar with a cool towel and free wifi and nice ladies without being blasted by smoke...
