Fellas, PLEASE help!
I'm currently in an "exclusive" relationship in the states. I'm used to freely moving around and I'm trying to find a way to visit CTG, but pretend I went to an island or something.
Wondering how my phone number looks when I call the US from CTG. Normal or through an app. Suggestions appreciated!
It depends on what plan you are using.
In my case I use the countries Provider that I am in; Movistar in my case, and call the US by adding the US country code to the number.
Or If you use WhatsApp it may not give away the country you are in.
It sounds like you want hide your phone number when calling from Cartagena?

I was waiting for my flight out with my GF, and she said she wanted to look at my passport. She saw the lie I told of a previous trip.
If you are in a heavy relationship with her 9 times out of ten you will get caught.

This is hilarious! I go thru the same thing, I traveled to Ctg 3 times before the mother of my child started to question me. The last time I went I said I was going on a company trip to Panama City and Venezuela with one day In barranquilla hahah. This next time I'm going to say I'm in Florida. It's tough, Colombia is just one of those countries that you less you're from there there's no reason to keep going back. I'm in love with ctg. There's something magical and perverted about the city. It's sin city, an under the radar sin City. I'm looking to establish myself out there and do business before the entire world starts going to Cartagena.

Two in three women out at night are hookers. If you keep going back Colombians will assume its for sex tourism. All my Colombian acquaintances already connected the dots about my visits hahaha.
One hooker I met told me she started at 21 when she overheard her uncle talk about Cartagena at the dinner table. She literally conspired with her friends to book bus tickets and go out there on the grueling eight hour bus trip to sell her ass.

So much hating on us mongers that any destination with halfway decent p4 p is exposed with a simple search of the internet. My gf is too web savvy and resourceful. I'm sure her curiosity would lead her to research since it is somewhere she has never visited.
I have no choice, but to lie. I'm selling the story of a SuperBowl trip with some buds. My GF has some family stuff out of town and I'm trying to take advantage of this opening. I'm also taking any recommendations on a fake, safe location to use! LOL.

I'm also able to send and receive texts like normal. Only problem is receiving calls. If someone calls my phone from back home it has the beeping international dial tone. What I do is forward my incoming calls to my voicemail.

I am back in the good ol USA and miserable. I plan to come back but I am craving a different life. Preferably one spent in Cartagena.
I do fine here but hate the rat race. I have been looking into work from home gigs but nothing really meets my lifestyle needs.
This is s total Hail Mary but does anyone know of any work remotely ops or business opportunities that would enable me to enjoy life in the CTG? I have very limited Spanish skills but a work remotely gig could still work.

Sorry to be off topic but this is tugging at my soul.[/QUOTE]Why don't you visit every once and a while before making this decision. Also use this time to talk to a Colombian immigration lawyer. You are going to the tourist zone in Cartagena. Living elsewhere in Cartagena is different.
There are people who go down, start a blog, do things like day trade and sell merchandise online. I can't imagine doing crap like that to get by. I've seen at least one guy try to run an unsuccessful 'Move to Medellin' service before he decided to call it quits and move elsewhere. Some people have gone and invested in real estate. You could try that. Keep in mind CTG is tropical and many buildings end up with roach infestations.
This isn't really the forum for it so google elsewhere and see what other people have done.
I have a couple of lawyer friends down there. Running a business down there will require business relationships, a good understanding of how things get done in Colombia, and Spanish. Or you'll just be taken for a ride and go back home broke. I was looking at buying property in the Sierra Nevadas (chocolate farms) and I got quoted ridiculous prices. One of the lawyers inquired for me and was quoted much less. Just keep that in mind. Extranjero is an easy target.

Going back in April, I know Morro city is out of the question for me since security got tighter and are really enforcing the no visitor rule. I hear the palmetto eliptic allows guest / girls up for maximum 20 k fee. A girl that works out in CTG has assumed me. I was thinking of getting a colonial house with pool in centro. I'm traveling with 2-4 buddies. Anyone have any other suggestions? Other buildings in Bocagrande / laguito that allow girls up? Even for a fee? I've heard some buildings will allow visits for a 10-30 k fee. I heard maybe the Poseidon buildings allows this? What about H2? Anyone stay there? I've heard good things but not sure about guest policy.
Los Morros (sector) - anyone stayed in this area? I read that it's quiet and a Little desolate with a dangerous feeling at night? Looking for a nice house or apartment with everything and allows visitors.
