Cartagena Reports

Back in Cartagena. Monday Night. Took a stroll around 9:30 by the Hard Rock & the clock tower. No Cinderellas, maybe a bit too early. Took a detour down a side street and found myself at Isis. No entry fee, 15 girls working, all looking very bored, staring at their phones, 16-18 k for a beer.

Then at 10 o'clock about 15 more girls came in.

Dolce Vita completely empty at 10 pm.

5 girls by 11:30 pm. 300,000 for an hour or at least according to the one girl I asked. Closer to midnight more girls arrive near the Clock tower, maybe 20-25 working, most are asking 200,000 for an hour. No expectations for a Monday night but I saw more quality the last time I was here. If any of you guys are in town next weekend and want to watch the Super Bowl, the ClockTower Pub & the Hard Rock are showing the game.

I'm looking to do a day trip to an island. Looking for lively place to chill eat drink and meet or take girls with. I've heard horror stories about boat trips to Rosario island. So can someone please recommend which island would be worth it. Also please recommend any speed boats / yachts rentals that are reliable. Or if there are any yacht parties with covers I do not mind joining those for a fee. Thanks in advance.

You won't meet hookers at any of these places. You need to bring them with you. Playa Blanca is a nice beach with lots of tourists and 10 x the number of touts than the beaches in Bocagrande.

Choices:

(1) Get to know a chica and have her bring her prima (cousin) or some other person out with you to Playa Blanca. That extra person can watch your stuff when you go into the water with her.

(2) Rent a boat to take you to these places with chicas. If you're going to rent a boat expect about 1. 5 million pesos just for the boat itself. You should ask to stop in Gruta Azul which is a very chill quiet beach on an enclosed island. Grab a jet ski, take your chica out to one of the other islands and fuck her like a wood pecker behind a tree or some shit.

I am learning more with each trip but there is so much to learn. I have to say Cartagena is an easy place to get hustled if you don't do your homework. My first trip was a disaster but my last the best ever. The weather wasn't too hot and no rain like my trips in October when it can rain everyday. I used two separate ATMs and two different cards the first two days to take the max I could get and compare the front and back end transaction fees for my next trip to determine what card and machine to use. I got fucked by the banks my last trip so be aware of the fees. I also noticed this trip the better exchange is in the old city as opposed to Boca Grande and El Laguito and from what I have read in banks its also higher but I didn't have time to try the banks. I stayed at the Hilton and had an apartment inside Marinare for the possible overnight chicks. I found it very convenient within walking distance and I felt sure my shit wouldn't get stolen because I do not trust anyone in Colombia especially the Paisas I end up with normally! You will find a liquor store and pharmacy on your way. I found out its 60.00 to register a girl at the Hilton and you can also bring a chick to the pool area for free but supposedly she can't go upstairs. If your discrete you can sneak her up through the upper pool stairs make a left and get to the second floor elevator lobby.

The first girl I picked off the Clock Tower was a Paisa maybe 23 Friday night. I didn't have to look to hard there were 25-30 women by 11 PM. She was a 9 looks and all natural body but 0 personality and wanted extra tips for everything. The girl was out of her mind and actually quoted me 1 million pesos for a BBCIM she didn't allow any photos of her face. I'll be going to Cartagena and Santa Marta on the way to Tayrona national Park. I'm kind of worried about the burundanga issue.

Is finding a girl off mileroticos a safer option than meeting girls by the clock tower, beach or through touts?

How much of any issue is this drug?

Any suggested precautions?

Quality varied, some were stunners, overall better than when I used to visit years ago and never seen any girls inside the tower in the past.

[/QUOTE]I've been going to Colombia for more than two years very frequently and have not been drugged yet. It really depends on where you go. It's unlikely to happen in Cartagena in the tourist areas. It's more likely to happen in Bogota.

There are two main destinations you will be sold by the local touts:

(1) Rosario Islands. Plural here. There are multiple resorts. The one that World Traveler posted about I've been to. It's alright but to get to a sandy beach it's a few minutes walk. At the resort itself the beach is rocky with a ladder coming off a concrete platform. You need to take a boat out to get to these islands.

(2) Isla Baru: typically the destination is Playa Blanca which is a nice sandy beach with a lot of tourists and touts. My own preference is to head to Playa Blanca. You can access this beach by boat or by bus. I recommend boat as its quicker.

Other destinations:

(3) There are other island trips including some that are overnight. Some might be pricy depending on the level of the resort. I've only seen photos of them and haven't gone myself.

(4) Cholon: this is also in the Rosario Islands. There's no resort here. You either show up yourself in your own boat or you get a ticket on a boat that's shared by people. I've gone only with my own transportation. Cholon is party central especially later in the week (Thursday to Saturday). The only people who show up are people who want to party and have a good time. It's much more expensive.

(5) Gruta Azul: I believe this is also in Rosario and near Cholon. I don't believe anyone shows up here unless you have your own boat. VERY chill. Few touts. Maybe a handful of tourists at most. If you want to bang your chica there are nearby beaches you can jet ski to with ease and not a soul in sight.

None of these destinations will have hookers available to you. You typically take them with you.

Cartagena Mongering FAQ.

[B](1) Where should I stay in Cartagena?[/B]

The tourist zone begins in the old city, sometimes referred to as "Centro" or "Centro Historico. " It extends south into Bocagrande, then Laguito and Castillo Grande. Bocagrande is very quiet at night and a great place to get an apartment facing the beach. There is also an area caled Getsmani which is south east of the old city. It has been gentrified as well. Bocagrande is the most expensive area from what I've gathered -- despite that it is still quite cheap where you will find nice apartments for less than 90 USD a night.

[B](2) When should I go?[/B]

[B]High season:[/B] December to April (up until the end of Easter week called Semana Santa). Many Colombians vacation in December and January. Then come back for Easter. Expect to pay more for accomidations at this point. February and March are better high season months if you want cheaper rates.

[B]Low Season:[/B] April (right after Semana Santa) until August. The number of chicas drops drastically. Where you would encounter fifty hookers in a night you will only encounter a dozen during low season.

[B]Mid Season:[/B] Starting in August until end of November the number of hookers begins to grow. Many hookers will come during this time to save money for their holiday season. This is actually a bit of a sweet spot if you're looking to save on flights and accomidations since the rates are lower.

[B](3) Where do I find the hookers?[/B]

Unaccompanied women in the old city after 11 pm are almost always hookers. If there's a man in the group or if they're not dressed up then don't approach at all. The best times to encounter them is Thursday to Saturday night. Mondays are absolutely the worst days to go hunting for hookers. The old city is almost empty after 11 pm on a Monday.

[B]Daytime: [/B]Playa Hollywood is known for always having a few hookers who come out to sun bath. Any tout / waiter can hook you up.

[B]Tinder:[/B] many hookers advertise on tinder. Your mileage may vary as you're using the Internet.

[B]Nighttime:[/B] The southern entrance to the old city is called the Torre De Reloj (Clock tower plaza). After 10:30 pm it is ground zero for hookers. Most will do short time for 200 k.

[B]Isis:[/B] a strip club found in the old city. Usually opens around 9 pm and is staffed by 10 pm. Most expensive option. 300 k to take a girl to a local love hotel, or 700 k for all night.

[B]La Dulce Vida:[/B] A hooker bar on the same street as Isis. Chicas start showing up around 11:30 pm. Many of these chicas were probably already at the Clock Tower Plaza.

[B]Elektra:[/B] After hours club. Doesn't really get going until 3 am. Lots of hookers will go to pick up more customers.

[B]Other venues:[/B] Clubs in the old city will either tolerate hookers, or charge them a fee, or outright ban them.

[B]There is one golden rule about night time action:[/B] they will always start or end their night at the Clock Tower Plaza.

[B](4) What do hookers charge?[/B]

200 k pesos will get almost any of them for an hour or two. Some may quote 300 k. Anything more is a ripoff unless you're getting them all night. Then it's customary to pay for 2 hours (or 400 k).

[B](4) Are there brothels in Cartagena?[/B]

Brothels are found outside of the tourist area and are not recommended unless you know what you're doing. This includes strip clubs like La Isla and Pley Club. If you're reading this FAQ you are probably new to the Cartagena so do yourself a favor and don't leave the tourist zone.

[B](5) How do I exchange my money? Where do I get the best rate?[/B]

The best rate is usually from your bank. Use an ATM card (an actual bank card) without fees on international withdrawals and ALWAYS select the amount in Colombian pesos. This will give you the best rate. Your other option is to go to a currency exchange but they usually don't have the best rates. There is a currency exchange at the airport, however don't expect a good rate.

[B](6) Where can I find nice beaches or things to do during the day?[/B]

Bocagrande, Laguito and Castillo Grande all have beaches but the waters are connected to a river so it does not have that beautiful azure color you come to expect in the Caribbean.

For destinations outside the city by car, bus, or boat:

There are casinos, bus tours, and much more to be had. Many touts will be able to help you for a tip to arrange these things.

Most hotels will not be chica friendly. You can use love motels which charge by the hour. There are plenty of these in the old city and the chica will take you to one if you ask her. Otherwise whether its on airbnb or booking through a rental agency you need to ASK ASK ASK and make sure the rules of the building allow visitors and what the hours are for visitors. Many buildings will issue wristbands to residents so they can be easily distinguished when entering. No one here can tell you with certainty where to rent as all it takes is one person to cause a problem at a building for the rules to suddenly change.
