Oh alas I visited Pattaya without knowing. The Beach Road is largely shut down by a horrible market for worthless junk: shoes, ladies blouses and handbags, and other worthless items. Most of the dear ladies have failed to show up as they are uncomfortable amongst the crowds and under the disapproving eyes of the typical socially-conservative Thai citizens who sell this tourist garbage. Of course this is the intention of the market. Drive away the hated streetwalkers and farang.

So now my visit is almost totally a waste of time. Boys, get used to it, as with the return of democracy our options will be ever-narrowing from now on.

The question is, where do the beach road girls go when they can't do their usual stroll?

Seriously, I asked a girl 'did I wake you when I called you to meet me at 1:00 AM?" and she said 'no I was just doing a jigsaw puzzle and watching a movie'.

OK, two more questions:

1. Does anyone know how long this "sidewalk marketplace" will last?

2. Does anyone remember who posted that excellent report with the interesting photos of the bargain girls in the shacks at the end of Walking Street and / or when it was posted?

Just curious. I have been to Pats 3 times. You are talking about the Beach Road. FL's you are interested in?

It seems there are many more as you go back to second Road. I have met them just walking around the Soi 10 area and surrounding streets.

You probably already know this though.

But the crowds and vendors there have never chased the SWs away, where there is room for them to stand, such as along the wall or by the road where the bus stop is, near soi 5. For a while this year the police were cracking down harder than ever since 2007, but that was before the election of YingLuck's party.

Maybe your girls just moved to another spot, or are awaiting your phone call at home? Or you dropped by at a low time? Chinatown 300 Baht, Grace hotel 500, soi 4 & [email]5@sukh[/email] 700, NPL 1000. IMO it's a buyer's market here now and the bang for my baht is better than it ever has been since 07. To put it another way, the girls are hotter and offering up more for less with a smile. Though perhaps by the high season and an influx of many farang that will not be the case.

I'm here now and I've walked Beach Road from Walking Street to Central Road every day for a week, and I haven't seen it. But I have seen a lot of uncommonly beautiful women on the so-called "Coconut Bar". They're all complaining about the lack of tourists, and prices have come down.

I've also seen that most of the massage shops are either lowering their prices, running specials, or both.

Life is good in Pattaya.

I called my contact in Pattaya Oil to tell her I was looking for a young girl that was just getting or coming to Pattaya. Her friend had just arrived from Chiang Mai and was a go for ST. She was a cute girl-short hair style, bright and bubbly but there was no way she was new to the business. She smoked, drank and clearly was experienced. Heck for 500 baht I didn't care. I went for it.

The sex was uneventful but after the deed I noticed something very disturbing-a massive very visible scar on her wrist. It was clear to me what it was-she had attempted suicide at some point. I didn't want to ask about it as it would no doubt open up a can of worms or emotions and I didn't want to deal with it. If you look at her photo you can clearly see the scar.

It seems so many girls (and foriegners) come to Pattaya to kill themselves. You see and hear about it everyday. Pattaya is a double edged sword I guess.
