The industry makes out quite well from tax payer and other subsidies. And anti virals are about the most expensive.

"we need to do something! "silence=death", yada yada. companies stand to gain as well. a lot of these folks attach international issues to domestic concerns. maybe they want to travel on the ngo's dime. i bethca the buggery in city x skyrockets when the international aids conference comes to town. once a programme / set-aside is funded it seems to go ad infinitum until some other competing group, say bible-thumping bigots, lobbies against in and gets a change. speeches. protests. huffing and puffing. eventually everyone grows weary of it because they find a new shiny plaything to quarrel over.

Came across this website while searching for something else and thought it might be useful, especially for those looking for budget and / or mid priced hotels as they are pre-grouped as such. It also breaks the hotels down into geographic areas within metro Manila and Cebu; a nice touch. Although it is not all inclusive, the list of hotels seems extensive and current.

"iLink. Ph" is not a booking website, just a list of hotels, but there are links provided with each listing to email the hotels directly. Also, note that for each city the budget price guidelines vary; I. E. : MNL = 2,500 php and under, Cebu = 2,000 php and under, etc. The guidelines are listed on each city's respective page.

In addition, there are also listings for hotels outside of the metro city and in areas not often found when searching on the major hotel booking sites. Plus there are listings for other things such as car rental agencies, tours, resto's, etc.

This by no means an endorsement for either the website or any of the hotels / businesses contained therein. I suggest you independently confirm the rate (s) and if possible the quality of accommodations / services. As always, YMMV.

From my country we are only dealing of around 5 mill people. The best healthcare (free of charge) in the world and the last 3 years 11,13, 12 people have been diagnosed with HIV. They not develope the Aids so they are all up and coming and beeing medicated soon enough I have not heard of one person died from aids simce the early 2000.

As my doctorfriend tells me, as I am barbacking like there is no tomorrow, contracting HIV virus is actually hard. If you fuck with an open fleshwounds and blood to blood it might be easy.

i returned to the usa in april from a 5 month motorcycle tour of mindanao in the philippines. very good time. i would recommend it to anyone with no remaining reason to live. ha.

ha. no the people were very friendly and helpful. and the ladies, omg! very few white folks down there because of the dire warnings of the state dept. had the place to myself. lots of babes. hungry and ready to play for pay. presently working on an ebook for my trip. i wrote an ebook of my trip last year to west africa, where i.

also bought a motorcycle. if your interested it's on amazon. "motorcycling in ghana". mindanao is usually off the radar for most mongers or anyone else. so i won't go on and on with a trip report for which noone has any interest. ha ha.
