Arrived in Medellin today
Great weather! Spirit Airline is up to their usual games. $40 to carry on a bag!
Staying at Prado 61 in Centro my first few nights. www.61prado.com Nice attitude from the staff. Decent place for the money. $25 a night and the place is full of cute regular girls who I guess are guests as well. Receptionist has a body to die for and speaks basic English. PM me if anyone wants to grab a beer and do some recon work tonight.
I promise I will come back on this with accurate info, regarding social benefits.
Minimum wage in Colombia is now 560kcop mensual. What social benefits are you talking about. The Colombians I talk to don't have any social benefits or government assistance whatsoever. Its everyman for himself.
My friend works in a restuarant and makes 1 million COP / months, but he mentioned that the cost is 1, 3 million for the company for ensurances of different kinds. Yes, it's true that unions and the ordinary worker don't have much of social security if being sick or unemployed, in contrast to the Westeuropean countries. So I will conduct a small investigation!
Good or bad? What we do know is that union leaders and human right ativists live dangerously in Colombia.
The economy is flexible and growth is high and has been so for decades, but the poor now demand higher wages for their services as the size of the middleclass and their incomes has grown rapidly. Still the average colombian is a young person and the competition is hard, so that keeps places as La mayorista with it's standard price 30k going. That is $US16. That is maybe 10% for what you pay for an equal medium hooker in the US!
Reminds me of Thailand, the land of the smile. The people are very friendly, but internal conflicts, corruption, and political instability are a big obstacle in the modernization process. Just like in Colombia.
Interesting comments on the economics of Medellin
What I found the last time I was there (May) , was that the casa girls were about the same or even slightly better than before, and they were far more friendly. The casa prices have gone up somewhat since I started going, but are nowhere at a level which would start to see a falloff in activity (price inelastic). I would disagree.
Somewhat with the comments on the middle class, what I noticed was an even greater discrepancy than before between the rich and poor, and virtually all the money flowing into MDE was going pretty much to Poblado and Envigado (with some to Laurales) , along with a very large influx of girls figuring they could make a buck with the new money and foreigners there. In fact, the basic cost of living in Medellin seems to have gone up astronomically, and, at the same time, the covetedness of the girls, by seeing these huge new malls, Santa Fe for example, but being unable to afford any of it, makes them gravitate to the only business where they can hope to buy anything, given the basic wage is still only around 650k+ or. Per month. Just my observations, anyone is free to comment. As an accountant, conversations like this are ALMOST a turnon.
Strictly Kings and Better
I think when I go on a Medellin run I'm the KING of the world, when it comes to the women
Of course you are a King, I'm King, everyone a King King. That's the beauty of Purchasing Power and fluctuations in the local currency vs. The Dollar / Euro. Lately, we've been getting the short end of the stick, but in comparison to one's choices in the USA, as Vinny from Jersey Shore would say to Pauly "Forget 'about it". Only in poorer countries, like Colombia, SE Asian countries, does the foreign currency "ROCK". Even with all that national insecurity, pullin' a dime (top shelf quality to say the least) , from what I consider to be the hottest girls on the planet, is / always will be "PARADISE" when its pennies on the dollar.
Peace
I don't know what to say.
i went yesterday to find out the location and how it is again after a few months off. they have taken over what i would call an old dead trafficantes house. it was never fiished and it was going to be a beautiful place and location. any way. it has 30 foot ceilings. lots of parking. the driveway up tests your 1st gear. and down your breaks. they have nice rooms. they kept the japanese style. they are still working on it. 12 girls. very pretty. 8 of them i would give a 9 for my style. i chose erika. she has worked there for a while. great massage. nice clean rooms. great location. $210. 000.
location is across from the paint ball game on tessorro above the los balsos roundabout. just down a little bit from the speed bump. they built a new wood gate. its a one lane driveway to the top. you cannot see the house from the street. about a half mile higher up the road from the other location. if anyone knows the story of the house. i would love to hear about it.
you mentioned "great massage" how about the rest of the session? $210 for a full session? 1 hour? it's your money and you can do as you please with it. but damn!
i know you're somewhat of a new member (two posts i believe) , maybe new to the colombia scene but for $210k you can get the same quality girl for the entire night! also you would save on the cab rides, and chances are better quality service for a fraction of that price at the different casas and clubs! it has been said time and time again by more senior members that loutron is a huge rip off! you're paying for their rent and building supplies to finish the house (i have never been to the new house, what's the new address. for future reference jajajjaja).
when i was new to the mede scene i was all about this place but then i did my home work, did some exploring, made some friends and the end results was better service, same hot chicks, and saved a ton of pasoes. i actually hooked up with a girl (expros / semi-pros) at a club that used to work there. guess what? when you got them out of that place and price structure you're looking at $80k-$150k. which is still on the upper end of the market value but still way cheaper than that ragging rip off that is loutron. just my two cents and i'm just trying to help!
