Like Exec said, wet and rainy but that didn't stop the multitudes from clogging the streets and staying out until 2am to listen to a French DJ and bands like O Rappa.

Since the local government closed Help a few years ago to build a Museum of Image and Sound. Did they ever start construction on the museum or whas it just BS? Has there ever been a replacement to continue where Help left off? I didn't get the notion there is from the forum.

Looks like it was the first construction, separate from the demolition of 3 years ago.

As for a replacement, I don't think it is possible to replace Help (Good or bad depending on your perspective). There is a new nightclub going in a hotel being remodeled a couple blocks south of the old Help. Will not be as big and they want it to be more upscale than Help. Supposed to open in March, so we will see.

Now Balcony is crowded every night and there are always the same garotas.

Is there any other places to chat and pickup? (beside termas!) in Ipanema?

I heard that night club FAR UP was good. Where is it? Does anybody on the forum have an idea if it is really good?

I went there on a weekday. The entrance fee was 70R, I think. The quality of these working girls are better than Help's. They don't act like Help girls, more like normal girls. If you are young, hip, come in a small group, speak some portuguese you are quite likely to score. But most likely free or just greasing with extra presents, beer, or cash. A few months they got some major machines there and started a bit with some digging and foundation, but seems stopped again.
