One possible reason is instinct: an inborn tendency or impulse to behave in a certain way. Modern theory more or less presumes that human beings are without instinct because we possess something commonly referred to as rational thought or thought based on or in accordance with reason or logic. I question the validity of this theory because I think it has a faulty premise.

The fact that human beings have the ability to think rationally does not preclude us from the possession of instinct. The ability to think rationally does not infer that all thoughts are rational. Indeed, Krum Lov’s reply to Opebo implies that some human behavior could be irrational. And if that is the case, maybe the modern theory of humanity should be restated as follows: Human being > an organism possessing the ability to over rule impulsive inborn tendencies with the use of rational thought.

It may well be a good thing that the possession of an ability does not ensure the ability will be realized. Let’s examine the case of Krum Lov’s reply to Opebo as an example. Krum Lov states that Opebo’s desire for riding bareback is a death wish. But what do we find if we examine his statement and try to discern its premise and whether it is a valid one.

The premise would be true if Opebo actually desires death by contracting a terminal disease from unprotected intercourse. I doubt Opebo has that desire, but even if he did, his death wish may in fact be an extension of life. What if Opebo’s fatal act caused his little “fuck object” to conceive and deliver a child? It would mean that Opebo’s wish for death resulted in new life. Ans this new life might as well be called an extension of life because Opebo’s baby would probably still be alive if Opebo were to later die from natural causes.

I would not state that Opebo’s action/desire is a death wish. I would call it “life’s instinct.” While the desire to live may appear to be a rational choice, I think the above example illustrates that life (and not humanity) possesses the highest form of rationality because it can over ride an apparently irrational death wish with the production of new life. It is my opinion that life prefers to remain alive and has no preference (rational or irrational) in how its goal is obtained.

I suppose I am like a war-reporter - drawn to the worst injustices.

Upon arrival I was persuaded by my 'mates' to spend a good deal of time in Soi Farang. This led, alas for my budget, to barfining a very good looking slender but busty 21 year old who insisted on 1,000 baht short time. The other bribe and shakedown paying bar owners would, presumably, run away home if many more of their brethren were jailed fatally. And then were would the gang of theives be?

while i enjoyed your story, i can't help wonder at your motive in lamenting the death of the german ****. good riddance to bad rubbish, i say. it reminds me of the other story about a year or so ago of another german who was roaming around udon trying to infect young things with hiv. there's simply no room in the world for these kind of people.
if in fact the police killed the ****, this is of course, morally wrong. but, i don't think there are many who would share your level of moral outrage at this "crime". most, like ozirob and i would say he got what he deserved from whoever meted out that "justice".

i'm also the type that always believe if the crime is serious enough then the punishment should also be serious in return. unlike the justice system in the west, where if you hired a good enough fancy expensive lawyers then there is reasonable chance of getting off scott free despite your guilt,(ex: oj simpson) but here i also believe he got what he deserve (and cheap too--didnt have to waste millions on court time/costs).

well i've had many decent service providers in the center of the universe who came from kalasin. now i have visited the place. alas, i had not much luck there.

i can recommend the phi-bhun ([url=http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord134][CodeWord134][/url]-boon) motel near the bus station. big fan room with hot water 200 baht. like many towns lacking a train station there is a lack of a clearly defined center to kalasin, but the little nightlife seemed centered around the train station. there is a disco called hi-class, and several higher end looking kareokes here, plus one regular massage place.

i asked just about every tuktuk driver around the station for song suphanee, or pu-sow in general, but none would take me to them, and all claimed there were none. it it is hard to believe that if a place like yasothon has brothels, a place like kalasin would not. one suspects in some places a conspiracy of silence. also i seem to have better luck with motorbike taxis than tuktuks.. but there were only the latter in kalasin.

these drivers as well as my hotel desk all offered ladies by telephone to visit my room for 1,000 baht short time. obviously i refused. i left kalasin by bus without having deposited any seed there - a sad defeat.

Wending my way back from Kalasin, I stopped off in the pleasant but spread out town of Maha Sarakham. This is a university town, so a bit pricey, with no hotels that I have been able to find under 400 baht. The Taxila is about 900 baht, but it has several lesser wings or branches behind it that are 400-600. The Vasu Hotel was also in this range, and right next to the town disco.

Happily I have discovered a motorbike shop that will rent an old bike for 250/day - a Honda dealership across from the Taxila Hotel and a bit down towards the downtown. Of course there are many Honda dealerships but this one is run by a very tall young Chinese Thai who speaks perfect English.

Around 11:00PM I checked out the four small brothels in the dark soi between Taxila and the main department store. Three of them had been moved to different shacks within the soi since my last visit, but had mostly the same staff. One of the old shacks lay in ruins - perhaps more police activity a la Udon? Hard to imagine as this soi has not more than 15-20 girls working - probably not worth the attentions of the forces of social control. The sois in Udon once had hundreds.

I asked for a woman of around 30 with whom I had a very good time some months before, but she was 'mai sabai' - by which they explained they meant on her period, thus visiting home. Instead I took a fairly cute dark girl in her early twenties. Service was mediocre, but I had expected terrible so I was pleased. She did a little bbbj, and bbfs was allowed. 500 baht. Most of the other girls in these houses were of a reasonable age but not attractive.

Good friend who speaks fluent Thai is going there for a wedding. I am largely done with LOS (Udon Thani was one of the few places I had any interest in returning to, and now that seems dubious), although must spend a couple nights around BKK coming and going on the way to the PI (I am a slave to Star Alliance).

I used the search feature for Ubon posts but it merely gives you a list of threads, not posts (WORTHLESS!).

Shame about Udon Thani; was normal in December. I used the Top Mansion coin operated internet roomand my friend was lodging there and I agree it looks like great value (I stayed at Grand Charonesi).

That's because you left the search on it's default 'Show results as Threads'. Try changing this to 'Show results as Reports'.

I figured you had posted a report of your findings, as you ALWAYS do.

As to the decline of LOS as a mongering venue, I have been particularly negative since my December trip, but the height of high season is not a good yardstick I must confess (my September trip was MUCH more enjoyable). And I must confess that IMHO it still has many advantages over the competition for the sex tourist. For the romantic serial fornicator, such as myself, the marked decline in the GFE quotient makes other neighboring pastures appear greener.

I thought Udon had great potential (for LOS!) for GFE, but the commercial sex scene has taken a major hit thus vitiating the prevalence of blueball relief (while waiting for the appropriate interval before asking the tilac for sanuk).
Speaking of the malevolent Forces of Social Control, the odd thing is that the new military government is seriously squeezing the sanuk out of Udon. Yes Thaksin's jack booted thugs conducted a few raids, but once the bribes were paid business as usual returned within days.
