I'm not black, but I see a fair number of black guys wandering around the zona. I don't know if they get hassled more than us white guys, or not.

But, the appearance thing does seem to be important. If you're dressed gangsta or seriously ghetto, I'm sure you'd get hassled more than if you're wearing slacks, or jeans, or whatever, a regular shirt, no sideways hats, baggy clothing, etc. I'm sure the cops are on the lookout not only for easy marks, but real gangsters. I figure if you don't look the part you improve your odds.

As far as the girls go, I really don't think it's a racial thing. Many countries I've visited, Mexico included, just think light skin is "prettier" than dark skin, for lack of a better term. So, whether it's TJ or Thailand, you may encounter more resistance than encountered by us pasty-hued guys, but I don't think it would be intolerable. Just my opinion, FWIW.

Actually, to be honest, the only consistent things I've heard from the girls all over, concerning black customers, are size complaints. :) No, seriously. Sadly, it's a problem I don't have, and am not likely to have!

I think the best thing is to give it a try. Dress conservatively (good advice for everybody) and go to have fun.

During the week, thursday nights are good. You get a good selection of girls without the fri/sat crowds. Generally, GFE's come with time after repeat sessions/unless you meet a girl that really likes you. Parking a nice car near the border isn't a problem; I normally use a secured ACE parking lot, which is supervised by a parking attendant/clerk. My car is nice and I always see plenty of other nice cars parked as well(mercedes, corvettes, BMW). Also, my two years of high school Spanish takes me a long way down in TJ. So if you're going to TJ, you should learn some basic conservational Spanish. A fair amount of the girls in AB English as well. It just helps because you're trying to gain a rapport with the girls in a short period of time. I personally don't think skin color is an issue in the zona/you won't be hassled any more than anyone else. It always helps to be well dressed or business casual (khakis, polo shirt) and well-mannered. I never wonder around down there;usually moving strictly between AB, CC and the alley. I have been to TJ many many times in the past five years and have never had any problems with the girls or the cops. Girls on the street will pull on your sleeve and call for chocolate if they really want some. I have done girls of my choice from the street in HK, CC, and Adelitas for the going rate and had a blast. I do speak 1st grade level spanish, so that might help a little. I generally go in the evenings, don't carry a lot of cash, don't drink, don't accept any offers for drugs, and wear jeans plus a sweater. If it's for one evening, $300 will go a looong way, depending on how much you and the lady likes to drink.

Despite what some recent posters may have said, TLNs aren't that common. You generally have to get to know the chica a bit, especially, IMHO, in a f*ck factory like AB. Several repeats, etc.

It's been my experience that a TLN is best pre-arranged. It's difficult (read expensive) to get a chica to leave with you mid-shift. There's usually a salida to be paid, but that seems to vary from place to place. But I've heard numbers of $200+ bandied about. Waiting until end-of shift, around 4:00am, may not be an option for some. So, you arrange it prior to your visit.

The chica may want to be paid whatever she thinks she would have earned had she worked her normal shift that evening. Of course, this will probably be rather optimistic. Often there may be a sliding scale, depending on the day of the week. Monday night may be very cheap, with Saturday/Sunday costing a lot more. I've been quoted a little as $100 + dinner for a Monday, to over $300 for a Saturday. The most I recall giving was $300 for a Saturday all night and all day Sunday. But that was a fave I'd known for a long time.

Again, IMHO, you'd have an easier time getting one with chicas from a lower-key club, like CC. Speaking some Spanish will help.
