Cost £65 to £70

They no longer have dierect flights from the uk to kaliningrad on kd avia, this was stopped this year.

As for hookers being more expensive than poland, this would defeat the object of going to kaliningrad ie cheaper pussy.

Luka, I think they are referring to the visa issued at the airport on arrival.

An experienced buccaneer like yourself with, say, a normal 30 day tourist visa in your passport could stay for the duration or perhaps spend a week there and then fly on to somewhere else in the Federation that takes your fancy.

People pay attention.

By russian law it is possible to receive a russian visa "arrival".

It can be issued to any airport that has international arrivals, without many formalities. Only need to fill in a single paper.

The visa is for duration of 3 days maximal and cost 120$.

There's a catch to receive a transit visa on arrival also in maximal duration of 10 days. But you must explain to the guys that you will take atrain from Moscow to China. Most probably you will need to show them the ticket.

The problem is the russian cutoms is not very ready to issue this visa on arrival if you land in Moscow or StP for exampla.

Today the practice to give this visa is only in "free economic zone" namely Kaliningrad and Yuzhno-Sahalinsk.

This visa is different than standard Russian visa.

This is basically what Jojosun was offered by that agency.

Only international flights to Kaliningrad are from Germany, Danemark and some baltic stat (forgot which one).

Kaliningrad taxi drivers are clever one. They quote you a good price and when they start driving you around the bil comes out high. Their expanation is simple "we can't go that direction, there's a military installation there so we must go around". Often they will take you close to military baracks where you can see soldiers and military equipment just over the fence and tell you "oops can't go that way we must go around". But actually there's no problem to go that way.

I agree with DS there are better places than Kaliningrad. Going to Kaliningrad you will not gain much, not going there you won't loose much.

In Kaliningrad foreigners are much better accepted. Never heard about attack on foriegner in Kaliningrad, while Voronezh is at the top list where attack on foreigners occur on daily basics. The reason is population in Kaliningrad is definitelly not a "pure slavic Russians". In Kaliningrad there are many people who are called "Russians" but some 40-50 years ago they actually were Poles, Germans, Lithuanins, etc. They got through process of russianization but still have their original mentality.

In the war, there was so much bombing and shelling, that not even one building was left standing intact, just a part of one, the rest was completely flattened. There's nothing old there, though there's also nothing modern about Soviet construction either, its drab and sad.

This could make you depressed if you're so inclined, but from a monger's POV, its a plus, if you are bringing some excitement into an otherwise boring life of a dyevushka.

Current population; 430,000. Compares in size to Golden Ring cities like Ivanovo and Tula.

Really? I saw a lot of dilapidated German-looking "houses" among the CommieBlocks. I can't believe those were built by Russians - it's not in their DNA to build such things!

The most striking building in Kaliningrad to me was the House of Soviets, which stood unfinished for over 40 years in the center of town. I was actually a bit sad to see that they had finished it by my last visit. Somehow, a hulking, deserted monstronsity in the location of a former (beautiful) German castle was more apropos. The German command bunker is pretty interesting. It's small and claustrophobic, but interesting and bowed in by residential buildings now, you could almost walk over it and miss it. It's a museum now.

I still think the coast is the best thing there though, although mostly just scenery as opposed to any real swinging action as far as I could tell.

The city has definetively not the most exiting sex scene i Russia.

Here is my experience: I saw 5 girls sitting in the lobby in the SAS-hotel (Lazurnaya). 3 of them were rather beautiful. I asked the most beautiful about the price and she aswered 15 000 rubles! Forget it. Next try at the beach balustrade. Asked a couple of russian men for an advice. They said: go to Zhentsjur (pearl in russian). So I went, but no girls were there. But I was told that I could bring any girl into the hotel for 1500 rubles. This was the small hotel, not the big one wich has the same name (pearl), but in a longer version. Maybe I was mistaken. Which I didn't understand at that moment. So I asked the first and best taxi driver I met (som meters uphill on the other side of the road). He turned out to be a sympathetic fellow and took me to the train station. We negotiated with a mamasan and ended up on 1500 rubles for a girl. I was told stories about the most beautiful girls in town etc. Which is normally crap and which was crap. First I was presented for an ok but not enough classy girl. I denied. Off we went to an apartment with an ugly old ukrainian girl. Mamasan tried to push into her arms (not physically fortunately). I wasn't interested and they let me in peace and told me another girl would arrive. I waited for about 15 minutes and was about to leave when an asiatic looking girls came walking in. She was a little bit too tall for my preferences, but she had an nice smile and attitude so I agreed. We went into the room and I discovered that she spoke fluently english - much better than my russian. She was a teacher in english in Usbekistan. An what a nice and interesting girl! She gave me full service and wanted me to stay for an hour - I guess in order to practice her english. I gave her 500 rubles extra og said goodbye with a big smile on my lips.

Conclusion: The small pearl hotel will acept you with a girl if you find one. In some hotels you can find girls, but they are probably extremely expensive (but also beautiful). Things are happening around the train station, but you probably have to talk to a taxi driver. You never now what you can get, but don't give in until you are satisfied, and maybe you will have the right one. It's always ok to say NO.

I was in Kazan last week on some business. Didn't have a lot of time to search around but I believe there are a number of gentlemen's clubs around. One, Arenda (sp? ) is right on Pushkin Street near the beginning of Bauman. The entrance is at street level and you go down.- however, beware of Sunday evening. That's when I happened to go and discovered, speaking with the hostess with my bad Russian and her broken English, that it is MALE dancers on Sundays.- so be forewarned! There is also a 1001 nights club that I saw from the outside but didn't get a chance to partake of.- it's on the main street leading from Pushkin going towards the Millenium Park. If anyone else has any experience in this city, please post.
