I can confirm information in previous field reports that Bali is a very nice hunting ground right now.

Hi. Was planning to come to Bali for some serious mongering in the week just after Lebaran beginning from the 5th of October. Unfortunately, the Lebaran holiday visitors seems to be planning to hang around and my attempts to find a budget hotel (less than $40) have not been sucessful. Tried both Dewi Sri and Barong and was told that they were full up.

Would any of the bros on this thread be able to recommend another girl friendly hotel/hotels in a similar price range and general standard in Kuta close enough to Paddy's and other joints so that the logistics are not a hassle and one can easily walk back with the girl? Thanks in advance.

It's 50.000 rupiah (5$) per night. And 40.000 rupiah per hour (or two), so no hassle. Prices after bargaining of course, you know it's Asia.

You can try Ida Hotel which is behind Kuta square, I lived there for almost three years and used to walk up to the clubs with no problems, its that or there are many small cheap hotels in Poppies 1 & 2 although the cheaper hotels tend to be taken and fully booked in the time that you are coming... Also look at White Rose its literally just behind mbargo or even look at The Bounty Hotel, all within the price range you are asking. If you get really stuck, have a look at Contiki in seminyak its in the street where there is a lot of action as well and not far to kuta by taxi

Yeah Prof's advice is actually much better then mine. Hotel Sandat came up on your terms "budget" and "proximity".

But for staying in comfort, poppies 2 road (many young aussies, a bit loud but lively) or poppies 1 (more quiet) are much better of course. Plenty rooms between 5 and 30 (and up) $.

Sandat may be to much of the budget thing, for your taste. And also the proximity is a bit too much. Visiting Bounty is not an option, it's pretty much required because the thumping disco bass notes virtually shake your bed until 4:15 AM.

Anyway, you could even book two hotels, one in poppies 1 or 2 (for the suitcase), plus Sandat, and still easily keep within your definition of budget.

A friend was turned away from Contiki recently, not because he had a girl in tow, but because he was too old.

Contiki has an under-35 policy and seems full of young Aussies partying hard every time I go there to watch rugby on their big screen, so if Spice Lover isn't an old fart maybe it's a good option.

Bounty Hotel is way on the other side of poppies 2, close to the beach; noise no problem.

It's prices on internet seem high though, I seem to remember much lower prices at the reception.

I finally made a trip to Kuta Bugar MP last week. When the taxi pulled up in front of the place with neon lights announcing "Massage", I thought to myself, "This is it, the place I’ve been looking for during all my trips through Bali! "

I am sorry to say TT that you paid way over the top in all aspects, the last time I was at Kuta bugar I paid 80.000 for two hours. Also for a HJ you have to be strong and bring the price lower, I think the most I have ever paid there was 150.000 and even that was too much, but then she was cute.

In the end though who really cares, it seems like you had a great time and came out relaxed and de-stressed, when you call her again don't go over 600.000 for all night, trust me when I say she will probably try for a million plus.

If you come to Bali to party everynight and all the spots you cruise are clubs and massage parlour....the chance might not be so many.


Just walk around during the day in a less touristic areas than Kuta...and you might have a chance....but if you are just in holydays...a smart girl, that is not looking for you wallet, wouldnt bother to go out with you.
