i passed by yesterday and peeked on the inside. there was a big crew working on the foundation. not much happened since i passed by in march, but at least they are working. slowly.
building on that terrain is slow because of the geology, basically sand with a high water table at sea level. they have worked for months excavating a narrow band at the perimeter and pouring concrete to hold against the sand. the building will have a subterranean auditorium, two levels of parking and mechanical rooms at a depth of about 50 meters, well below the water table. once the full perimeter is sealed, excavation and construction should move at a faster pace.
Guys. I have been reading the forum for about 30 minutes and figured I would just post some questions.
About me. I travel a lot but have never been to Brazil. I usually do Colombia, not really a p4p mongerer but just a single male traveler that likes to get laid. I speak spanish and after studying portuguese and talking to Brazilians my spanish should be fine in brazil for my first trip.
1) Are there direct flights from Miami or any east coast city to Rio?
2) Besides girls and being at the beach what else can I do? I like tennis and surfing while on vacation.
3) How much should I be able to get an apartment for?
4) Best way to get a visa using the mail, how long of a wait?
I 'm having a tough time motivating myself to go back to Colombia and was thinking Brazil and learning a new language would be a fun challenge.
Thanks
Here is my slightly different answer:
1) Yes Miami and New York for sure take a look at TAM the Brazilian airline.
2) They have a surfing beach in Arpoador, hangliding, sightseeing Christ Statue, Sugar Loaf, Futebol, shopping etc:
3) Apartments have gone up in price along with everything else but you should be able to get a nice apt for about $75 a day.
4) To get a visa using the mail use a visa service I use ZVS. COM it takes about a week and a half.
