So if you have been introduced to the family as a novio, it might depend a bit on why the relationship ended as to whether you would be welcomed to take a shot at another daughter. But it's so easy you put a lot of work into chatting up girls that you could easily pick up working at the grocery store or something. You seem to put constant work into a "novia" Of course you use novia for what I consider a working girl. They are just working in different ways. I agree I do like a little of both myself. But I get off the plane and start working it and that is plenty of time in DR.

There are some attractive women there. They quote 1000 to 1200 pesos.

There are still some SWs on Independencia from the Hilton to Zona Colonial (not in any great quantities) and some on calle danae. Also SWs on Avenida Espana. I have seen SWs at night where Avenida Espana begins when getting on it from las americas highway, when heading in to the city. Aquarium Hotel is a few blocks from that location. Possibly some freelancers on avenida espana in the daytime.

It lets you out by the Church in Boca.

Thanks.[/QUOTE]Cane, Porto and Gold I have not heard of. Pure is in the Hotel Melia and used to be Coppa Disco. Not sure what you are referring to when you say alright. Avenida Venezuela has over 5 bar / discos, some of which some ISG members have recommended (Energy club is one). Some attractive women go to the bars / discos on Venezuela. Docks bar in plaza acropolis gets attractive women, hard rock cafe some nights gets a bunch of attractive women, various colmadons and colamados throughout the city that get attractive women. Higher end crowd hangs out in places like praia, plaza uris bars, gotik and other places. There are other bars in zona colonial that are good some nights.

Seems a new company got some of the casino contracts in the DR. Previously the casino at the Melia was called Diamante (Diamond). Now the large, brightly lit casino sign outside that casino has the name of a different company. Seems the new casino company changed all the names of the bars / discos in their casinos to Pure (Coppa became Pure, with some renovations and upgrades to the interior).

For a first time visit to Santo Domingo, Hotel Palacio is a good choice. It is a chica friendly hotel in zona colonial, about 100 feet from from El Conde (the pedestrian only street in Zona Colonial). Hotel Palacio is in what used to be a residence. You will see old brickwork and some large wooden beams in parts of the hotel. You flash your room key card near the lock mechanism for the door to your room and the lock opens (no inserting the room key card in a slot, just flash it near the lock mechanism. Hotel Palacio is owned by an older German guy named George. The manager is another German guy in his 40's (he sometimes parks his silver mercedes benz in the small enclosed parking area at the hotel). Many of the workers have been at the hotel for many years. The security guys at night and the guys who work near the front door during the day, are nice people, when I walk by the hotel they always say hello and we chat a bit. Nothing ever went missing from my room, I would leave my electronics out on the bed. Hotel Palacio has security cameras throughout the hotel.

Some photos I took a few years ago of the hotel palacio. On one corner of duarte and el conde is a department store called California that has good prices for clothes and toiletry type items. That store also has a banco popular ATM machine and a banco popular teller window. On another corner of duarte and el conde (about 100 feet from hotel palacio) is a Jumbo Express supermarket, where you can buy beer, soda, chips, bottles of alcohol (rum, wine, baileys, whisky, vodka etc) , juice, bottles of water etc. Make a left out of the Palacio and there is a pharmacy within a block of the hotel, on calle duarte, where you can buy cialis or viagra or the generic versions.

Around the corner from the Palacio on el conde is a claro store and call center. You can make international calls there, not expensive. You can buy a cell phone there (some under $25US with a SIM card and minutes included) or if you have an unlocked GSM cell phone that takes SIM cards, you can buy a Claro SIM card, which will have a Dominican phone number (809 or 849 area code) for 150 pesos (about $3. 84US). Hard Rock Cafe is about two blocks from Palacio. Freelancers hang out in pacos cafe (grands cafe) on el conde and sometimes walk along el conde. There are three p4p venues in zona colonial. There are about 10 p4p venues that you could walk to from hotel palacio. Late at night parts of zona colonial are very quiet. A taxi from hotel palacio to pure disco in hotel melia should cost no more than 200 peso (about $5. 12US) , rate should be less than 200 pesos. Call a company like Apolo or ask a worker at the palacio to call a taxi for you. There are usually about 5 taxis parked near the Palacio Hotel. Always ask the price of a taxi before getting in. I have walked from near the hotel palcio to where Pure is located at 2am-3am and never had a problem.

I think it's easy, as long as you take care of yourself. But I do agree with SavePros you do need to be somewhat attractive. I've thought all latin countries were similar in ease, only thing easier would be Asia. My buddy is Dominican and when he goes back he said he's pretty much attacked because everyone knows him. I don't know if you necessarily have to be a stud. If a guy pulls up to a club in a ferrari and is a 5 he still can pick up a 10. If you're American they assume you're rich. If you speak fluent spanish you'll be just fine.

I want to stay here on my return trip. I need a "suite w / mini kitchen" at a good price near El Conde but I'm reading to many accounts of: poor security, hot water problems, bugs, & reservation issues. Maybe instead I'll stay at Hostal Marina Real again.
