i think the "z pack" he's referring to is azithromycin, a pretty strong antibiotic used to treat respiratory infections and stds. i'm another one that always seems to catch something when i travel to latin america. the smog making your insides raw, the constant exposure to chica fluids, the foreign foods, and alcohol weakening your immune system all combine to create the perfect host to a viral infection.

in fact, i just got back from mde and guess what? i'm sick with a really bad cold. this trip i tried spraying my mouth throat and nasal tract with zicam throughout the trip and especially when i got on my flights but it didn't help one bit. i even downed a couple emergen-c packets when i was there too. because i knew i was prone to getting something. happens every time.

the only thing i've experienced that has effectively fought a virus is tamiflu. a while ago, i had to stay home with my son for a week when he had influenza a and i thought for sure i was going to get it bad. but his ped gave me sample packs of tamiflu tablets to take as a prophylaxis and i got through the ordeal completely unrep001hed.

i think i might look for tamiflu tablets at the farmacia the next time i'm there. can't remember the generic name.

The way it was prescribed to me is to take 2 pills the first day as one dose and one pill everyday afterwards. A total of 6 pills.

I just noticed I have one refill left. Need to go get it.

If Z pack is an antibiotic then I have mixed feelings about it. Uber mongering with antibiotics just to get a sexual release doesn't appeal to me. It reminds me of a junkie shooting up in their eyelid. PARTY!

I tend to get really bad throat infections with white spots. At first glance you would say it's strep throat but the only way to tell is by having a throat culture done. I recently found out that the white spots are an immune response to your environment. Silly me because I thought for sure I had strep since I couldn't swallow well. My doctor told me there is a point when you just take ciproflaxin regardless as long as you don't have side effects from it."It can't hurt" is what he says. Cipro is to combat bacteria not a virus. What I don't quite understand is at what point does a virus involve bacteria or does it? Ridding your body of bad bacteria will increase your chances of getting better soon right?

It's nice to know that I am not alone with this issue. I did too many drugs in my youth. I'd rather not get into Z if I don't have to. I am concerned that some day I might need these antibiotics and they may not work on me.

Any doctors in the house?

since antibiotic is for bacterial, rather viral, infections, i do not think that it is effective for cold. tamiflu, which is antiviral drug, should be effective. i had an antiviral shot at a paharmacy in medellin. it made me feel better only for one day, and the next day i felt sick again.

Admin involvement did a tremendous job of clearing up some clouds. Some afterthoughts.

1. Except for a few, many of you completely and undoubtedly lack the 'critical thinking' skills and so quickly and prematurely jumped the gun and foolishly believed everything when a poster shared his report. When a Mayo chica told you her name was Carolina, did you believe right away that was really her name? How many times did you see a Mayo chica and believe she was old enough and then go ahead and bang her? You could be wrong right there.

2. One monger responded ' I have a teenage daughter, and I am telling you this is just a very wrong thing to do'. My immediate thought is I hope it is going to stay this way.

There are fake IDs all over MDE and the DR. Unfortunately the responsibility lies on the monger. If you like cute spinner types this is something you will need to confront.

If a chica shows you a black and white ID it is usually a copy. If I remember correctly a Colombia ID has some color in it. Can anyone verify this? This might save someone a heap of trouble.

Actually, as a matter of fact, most girls working in venues such as LDV in CTG are doing so on a fake ID card. I don't know whether or not the same goes for street walkers tho, but still.

Fake IDs are a very common occurrence in Colombia.

As far as FAKE CEDULAS. I've never seen one personally there but my homeboy on MSN just told me you can get one but the good quality ones are very expensive Million plus and the cheapies with NO WATERMARK or holograms are 200k. (look for holograms and watermarks)

What I have seen is the "loaning out" of a cedulas. Whether the one in your chicas possession is stolen or borrowed from another girl.

What seems to work for me whether I'm traveling or not is Zicam cold remedy oral mist,

Don't make the mistake of getting Zicam's other products like Zicam congestion relief or Zicam sinus relief, those are for when you have a full blown cold.

Time is very critical: if you use it at the first sign of a cold, you can minimize the symptoms a lot. The longer you wait, the less effective it is.

Last year I had the bad luck of catching a cold right before leaving for MDE. Other than a little cough in the morning, I was fine & mostly forgot I was battling a cold.

Once over the cold, do a quick sprits once a week, as a form of 'prevention', you never know when you pick something up until it's too late. Also, the nozzle gets clogged up if you don't use it after a while & the top doesn't come off. It's not that expensive but what if you want to use it & you're someplace where they never heard of it.

If you wait too long & get a full blown cold, may I suggest a Hot Tottie: some hot tea, a little honey and / or lemon & your favorite liquor, sweet stuff like Southern Comfort or blackberry brandy seems to go down nicer.

After a few of those you'll still have a cold but you won't give a shit, really.

(Almost makes you look forward to your next cold. Almost).
