Back in PP after 8 years.
So I am back in Phnom Penh, eight years since my last visit. I had some good times here in the 2011-2014 period. Last night when I had a look at the hostess bars, I remembered why I stopped coming here: the skyrocketing prices starting in 2014. Yesterday I was quoted 80 dollars (for st, although it seemed to be the same for lt). Is this the common price now? Can it be lowered by haggling? Without appearing as a fool, I mean. 80 usd (+15 for the barfine) is a lot compared to other similar options in Cambodia (see below) and in other Asian countries (esp Phils, Thai). I will check out Cyrcee bar today, they have another style there. I have had good times there before. Another place I liked was Yang Mey massage at street 252 #28. Probably gone after such a long time, but are there similar places today?

Phnom Penh. Online and Massage Warmup
I'm just in Phnom Penh at the beginning of an extended Cambodia-Thailand holiday. First time to PP, so I want to take in the city first and gradually start my indulgences. The first few days are mainly sightseeing (cool city vibe) and making some online connections with girls. I'm doing an airbnb for a few days, which is not guest friendly, but I've been laying some ground work for several hotels I'll stay at and getting on various apps to see what might be arranged in advance. I start my mongering activities tomorrow, but there are early signs of good activity, including an unexpected HJ, that I thought I'd pass on here as an intro.
First, I've gotten on several apps (Tinder, Skout, Thai Friendly, Wechat) and can say that it has been very easy to meet girls from 20-40 online. Many of them have initiated chats, ST, and weekend dates. As a couple previous reports mentioned, there are tons of tinder possibilities, but they are mostly looking for serious relationships. I matched with about 10 just in the first couple hours that I enabled discovery, and then I disabled because it's taking too much time. But everytime I enable again there is a lineup of new matches. Some are not lookers but there seem to be lots between 30-37 who are quite fit and attractive (on photos anyway). Yeah, they want to chat and ask lots of the same BS questions (bores the hell out of me), but 2 nice looking ones asked me out for Friday / Saturday night dates after just a few messages and within a few minutes of each other.
I also have the same response on skout, though not many users here. I'm going to turn tdr / skt off though because I want to skip the chatter and get straight down to business. But for anyone wanting to spend a long time here, the dating route is a good possibility, presuming that you have a good security guard and can keep things spread out. My sense is that a lot of them go to Oscars for live weekend music, so you could run into some awkward situations there very quickly.
I've been waiting to get to BKK for Thai Friendly, but I've gotten lots of attention in PP (and from TH) already. Can't tell if the Cambodian girls are as serious on that, but there seem to be some young 20's girls ready to trade (and LOTS of Thai girls making contact). I'm keeping TF on the back burner til BKK, but I might fire up that burner just a couple days before going.
Wechat is another story. A couple recent reports mention that, and indeed, it appears to be an easy trade route. I've met a bunch of Viets (seem to be here for 1 month "working holiday" LOL), Chinese, and Cambodians who are ready to engage (10 new "friends" from people nearby, and I stopped looking after 2 nights. Many more available). They're mostly low to mid 20's. A couple quoted me 100ST /200 LT but they immediately agreed to half that. I told them I had to wait (and in any case want to check out the lady bars at night), but they've kept coming with nightly offers: "can I come over?" "Do you want to see me?" Based on photos alone, I'd rate them as 7-8/10 in looks. Very good bodies but not quite the stunners you're looking for. I may try an assortment of them ST first and then see if any are worth / safe for LT. But wechat is undoubtedly on offer here as a mongering lane.
Last night I was in bad need of a massage after long walking and swimming days. I went to a moderate price place called Champei on St. 57. I was really looking for veggie massage only (not expecting any additional services), so I ordered a 60 minute foot massage ($14) and a 60 minute traditional Khmer massage ($13 - basically a full body massage with pajamas on and no oil). The foot massage came first. It was very chill and calm, just one other female customer until a few young Cambodian dudes and a Korean dude came in. My foot masseuse was pretty, slightly big boned, but could speak no English. Her foot massage wasn't bad, appropriate for the price, but she didn't have the power I was expecting. Still, it was basically what I wanted, and would do it again there at that price.
Then they led me to a private room with 2 beds and told me to change. I closed the door and was trying to decide whether or not to keep the underwear on. I didn't (wanting to see if anything might transpire), but when I opened the door, a rather curvy young women came in. I felt relieved because I really didn't want to think about sex, and I hoped her extra weight would do wonders for my aching muscles (which they did). I started on my back, and her leg massage skills were actually not bad, but it didn't take long for her to get to the explorative teasing part, going straight up my inner thighs without hesitation and pressing right next to little brother and his 2 round companions. But I wasn't sure what her intentions were. Over the next 10 minutes, I can say that she expertly led me down the path toward a happy ending, gradually touching my naughty bits more and more to see if I'd respond. When I walked downstairs to pay up, there may have been some expectation from her of a tip (I passed her in the hallway. Not bad looking at all), but the front reception didn't suggest anything. So I paid my $27 in cash for the 2-hour massage and left.
Today I walked past about a dozen little massage shops, some $5 cheapies and some nicers ones. But I can guess that all but the most expensive provide the happy ending option. Cambodia one month report (Copied from SMF)
So I just spent about a month in Cambodia. And what a month it was. There seems to be a lot of confusion especially since covid so I'll write about my experience and also the general info about places in Phnom Penh.
Before even coming, one week before I set tinder and badoo both in Phnom Penh and had a blast. Dating in Cambodia is pretty easy. Compared to Vietnam a lot of locals know English though it's not comparable to the ease of Thailand. I matched with a girl who I really vibed with. She suggested that she'll come to pick me up at the airport.
So on the day my flight landed she came to pick me up and we hit it off. But here's where the first realisation hit me. Khmer woman are more reserved. Even more so than Vietnamese. This is not a place of point and shoot.
I had a reservation at loft facing riverside in Tao. It's a pretty sweet place. So we went there and started kissing. But she refused sex. I'm not sure why she did. But I suspect because she wasn't on pills. So we had a bit of fun and then I dropped her off to her home. And hit up line.
Line General impression:
I had 6 women over line. All of them were nothing to boast about. They were pretty, but pretty ones were not VFM IMO. They charged 200 $ for 2 time which is just bullshit. And mostly you can negotiate down to 50-60 $ for one time but after the ease of Thailand and Vietnam I can totally understand why some people would be pissed off about that. I would suggest you to skip line. It's just not worth it.
Next morning we met again had breakfast and spent the day together. Night comes she was all over me. But during sex it was clear that she was in pain. She told me she has only ever been with one other person (her BF) and hasn't been with anyone for 4 years. Her tightness pretty much confirmed that. We had an insane night together. She told me she worked part time for an NGO and was leaving for village the next day. Which is the week when I had my line adventures.
Got bored of line and decided to hit the bars. And oh man. This has to be the best and worst part of Cambodia. Best cause if you explore you can find some awesome gems here. Worst cause in order to explore you have to drink. I'm not much of a drinker. Nor a smoker. So for me, this was a little hard getting used to.
Ostex (Corner bar):
Best one IMO. Went there 2-3 times. Get ready to break some hearts and see puppy eyes. Cause every time you go women who you've already been with would be all over you. And you'll have to say no to them. But pretty cool place. General price was 60 $ ST and 100 $ LT (LT includes 3 shots. Though they try to reduce it to 2).
Ostex is the only one I remember cause it was my first. But there are a lot of other bars on this street and the street adjacent. All of them which I visited had willing girls ready to be bar fined. At one place I just went outside, talked to the girl for 5 minutes and bar fined her without ever getting a drink.
I did not face any racism. Some members of ISG faced it I think. But I was fortunate enough to have awesome experiences and fun times without ever explicit racism.

It's a nice place. 50 $ for ST without women ever trying to get more drinks out of you. But it's nothing special. It's like other bars and I didn't see anything special about it. It's a little far from other bars.
My girl then came back and we went to Siem Reap for a week. So I couldn't monger there. But neither was I interested. Though line worked pretty well there. I was getting offers for 70 $ LT. Second night my girl tells me she forgot to take the pill and is late. And started saying I love you. Man that was hard to handle.
Came back to Phnom Penh third week and one girl who I was talking to secretly invited me over to coffee. Had an amazing ONS with her.
Then next night told my girl I had a lot of work. So she went back to her province to meet her parents. This gave me 4 days to explore.
Pontoon:
What a dump of a fucking place. Why is this place famous for mongers I've no idea. First, yes some women are hot here. But you've to realize, exploring girly bars will give you chances with much hotter women. Plus one women I was with at girly bar was also at Pontoon that night. I made clear to her that I wasn't looking for any action with her but would buy her drinks. She told me a lot of women who come to Pontoon are actually from girly bars or line women. They bar fine each other and then spend the night finding customers in Pontoon. Reason is at girly bars they get 100 $ for LT. In Pontoon they get 250 $ minimum. There's a lot of other nice clubs in Phnom Penh. I would suggest you to skip Pontoon. If it's partying you're after then this is not that bad of a place.
After this during my last 6 days I stayed at Nagaworld2.
Nagaworld:
First, a single day in Nagaworld costs 65 $. While at Tao cost 70 $ for riverside Penthouse. I would recommend you to stay at Nagaworld. Tao rooms are bigger. But Nagaworld has so much opportunities. For example, once while going to darlin darlin, a woman came out of a room. Very clearly a hot working girl who said she'll make me happy for 100 $ per hour. She was clearly there and wanted to earn extra after just being with a customer. I didn't want to do that. So skipped. Other time I was going to darlin darlin and a hot women sitting at casino called me over and offered 150 $ for LT. I had running suspicion she was a ladyboy. So I skipped. But she was damn hot. Also girly bar girls love coming to Nagaworld. Once I told them I stay at Nagaworld, even though Tao is more expensive, they would just swoon over. Offer them breakfast and they'll go with you for 70 $ LT. Also, Nagaworld food is pretty nice.
Darlin Darlin:
It's an ok place. Some women cost 200 $ for ST. Which I just don't think objectively they're worth. But in Cambodia they're worth. I went there twice. Both time had pretty good time but it's just that women are not worth the price they charge. Yes some of them are drop dead gorgeous. But if you're willing to pay 350 $ for LT you can find extremely hot women at girly bars too.
Overall, Cambodia is it's own sort of place. It's not like Thailand which spoils you with its ease. It's also not like Vietnam where you get sweet action for cheap. But it is worth exploring. It's a beautiful country with a lot of women. Women especially who are roaring to date. But it falls short as mongering destination if you only have less than a week. But if you can spend more time here then it's definitely awesome.
P.S. , I've no fucking idea what I'm going to do with my girl. One time I tried breaking up with her and she cried. I told her I cheated and she cried. I told her I'm going back to Vietnam to meet my friends for a month and she cried and said she'll wait for me. No fucking idea what sort of mess I've gotten myself into LOL.

Phnom Penh is not a well lit city and is not pedestrian friendly. No sidewalks. People drive mopeds like they are retarded. Tuk tuk driver stopped on a 6 minute ride to get out and piss on a wall haha. Grab taxis drive like grandmothers.
English definitely not as widely spoken as SR.
Riverside bars.
Pussy cat bar- WGs. Soooo many bars and girls. And good looking ones at 10 pm. Way better than HCM. And they are available for take out. Negotiable.

Cyrcee-same prices as recently mentioned. The girls aren't allowed to sit out front. Ordinance for that neighborhood.
Infinity bar. Open 24 hours. New shift comes on at 1 am and that's the start of $1 beer draft happy hour. Chica quoted me all night for $100 plus $20 bar fine. And she was a single mom. Hard pass.

Thought Thursday's girls looked better than Friday's on riverside. Soooo many can't read in their native tongue.

I wen't and checked my notes from this summer and the prices I recorded were about $10-15 bar fine, $50-55ST. That doesn't mean I'm disputing his claim or am a fan of PP. I think a very large number of girls simply don't go with customers and this high number is a polite way to decline.
From my experience at these "Hostess" bars, most of the girls are only working for drinks now. They make the most money catering to Asian businessmen who like to arrive in large groups, make it rain and don't necessarily even bar fine the girls.
Sure, mongers will post on here defending PP, but mostly its longtime expats who have ended up in PP due to business and made the most of it. I suppose it's not a bad place to be stuck compared to the Western World, but as a sex tourist destination- just go to Thailand. It's not even cheap from a cost of living perspective. My secret to PP success: Get on a plane to Pattaya
I'm going to chime in on the PP scene since there seems to be lots of disagreement on relative advantages / disadvantages. I just cut short my PP stay and hightailed it to Pattaya (where I'm happily feasting for Christmas now), because the PP girl scene was NMCOT at all.
PP is a lovely city in general. Very chill, lots of character, Cambodians seem super nice, lively but reasonable pace, streets are busy but not too loud and drivers not too aggressive. I stayed up near Independence Monument on st 278 for 4 days then at Sun Moon near bars 4 days. The daytime vibe is really nice, and nighttime markets, nightlife, etc. All vibrant. I'm thinking of moving there in a couple years, I liked it so much.
Except for the girl scene. I'the have to agree with recent pessimistic (yet realistic) reports by RakSopheni. I understand some guys have a good time with girls in PP, but I think it only works for old Cambodia hands (who know the scene left and right and have long established contacts with mamasans etc) and newbies who gravitate toward PP style hostess bars.
I'm not one of them. First, I honestly didn't find PP women that attractive. The real lookers were mostly Viets (asking astronomical prices on wechat and in Pontoon, freaking little scoundrels. , quoting $300 LT /$150st and barely budging). I just didn't feel my LB very tantalized at the sight of most local girls. And while non-WGs were very friendly, if not a bit shy, those engaged in the trade were of a different DNA, deceptive, combative, aggressive (and can't speak a word of English).
Walking past the loads of bars at night, even if there were big packs of girls in front, they were doing nothing to make their places inviting. Most of them are not very fit, they were more interested in playing on their phones (except for a brief moment where they'the try to scream at passers by), and they were mostly just littering the outdoor bar tables with their take away containers that they'the eat from and not bother to clean off, leaving no where for customers to sit.
My biggest agreement with RakSopheni is the change in motivation. It really is all about milking guys for drinks. Sure, some guys here report "success," but I'm half suspicious that they may not be totally reliable. Or maybe some are just lucky. I'm not a newbie to mongering and have learned over the years that persistence will eventually pay off. But that wasn't the case in PP. I'll recount just a few of the many fiascos during my recent (failed) 8 day PP "binge. ".
First there's the ol reliable Air Force bar down on 104. I went in around 9 pm on a Friday night. There were 2 younger regular western customers outside and I was the only customer inside. This chubby 38 year old (obviously mamasan though she claimed not to be) called a lineup for me and I chose the sole young good looking one to my table. She was 19 and from the provinces, couldn't speak a word of English, but she was one of the finest girls I met in PP. I could barely keep my hands off her young thin body, Chinese looking face / milky skin and long black hair. But chubby mama was there "translating" for me (as I learned through my trip, they also help train and control price levels for the less experienced staff), itself extremely irritating (and confirmation that not speaking Khmer will not help your chances.
I'm not one of these guys who wants to engage in endless BS chatter with bar girls, so I got right down to business asking about bar fines and girl prices. The girl was immediately apprehensive about the BF prospect, and what became the familiar refrain of PP excuses starting raining down. "Oh I live an hour away. , have to get up early. , too many customers coming. " When I pushed it, she quoted BF $15 and 80 for ST. I would have countered with 40 if I was interested in ST but I want to wake up and fuck these girls at dawn. So when I asked for LT she repeated the excuses and it was clearly going nowhere. She wasn't going to LT me at all and wouldn't consider ST til much later in the evening. The only prospect was to go into the BJ room with pool tables for quick one, but I was already put off and decided to get the bill. Freaking chubby mama charged me $6. 50 for the lady drink and $2. 50 for my Cambodia beer. BS! When I ran into regular guy in the toilet he confirmed should normally be $4. 50 for LD. I complained to chubby mama but she kept insisting it's what she always charges. "Ask the regular customers outside!" she said. "I already did. " And I informed her that I'the pass on the unfavorable experience to my fellow dudes (which I'm doing here). So farewell Air Force chubby mama, and best wishes for success in your empty bar!
Another night was Cyrcee, which seems to be a favorite among many here. I have to wonder who really wrote those glowing reports, because it was a double joke to me. First, it's totally out of the way from the rest of the scene (which could be positive to some) but I went on a Thursday and it was closed (after making the effort to go there). Went back around 11 pm on Friday and it was completely empty except for grumpy French boss and a handful of homely looking girls. The thecor is nice, but the problem is that there is only the bar stools, so when you sit down you're attacked by the most aggressive ones next to you, and once you get rid of them, you can't get a good look at the others without turning around and staring awkwardly (which they would inevitably see as an invitation). So after drinking 1 beer without conversation, I went to the toilet as an excuse to get a look at the others. Wow, what a disappointment. The best one was a slightly overweight girl in her low 20's wearing jeans (I remember because I saw her later that night at Pontoon). A 6. 5 out of 10 at best. Maybe an occasional customer will get lucky there, but I saw nothing at all and promptly left, bored out of my skull.
Back around sts 130/136, I went into a couple more places, making sure that I asked about drink prices / bar fines / availability to take girls home with each mamasan I encountered. What I ended up getting was a pack of repeated lies and excuses. "Oh yes you can take any girl home!" they assured me. Then when I picked out the only 1 or 2 I found at all attractive and young, "Oh sorry, she's with another customer" (that customer immediately leaves empty handed but she sends the girl to a different customer who's arrived after I already made my request).
I managed to buy a drink for nice looking 19 year olds (after getting assurances from mamasans) at a couple places like Same Same but Different and Su kho, but through the conversation, it became more baiting and manipulation, followed by excuses. "Oh sorry, I have applied for a new ID and haven't received it yet so can't register at your hotel. " "Oh sorry, she's having her period tonight. " BS after BS after BS.
Pontoon late night wasn't much better. Good looking ones were mainly looking to swindle desperate guys, often working in packs to prop each other up, but most were just half attractive leftovers that I had seen earlier at hostess bars.
These are only a few of the jokes played on me, vastly outnumbering my successes (themselves not memorable at all). So after a week of uninspiring shadow boxing, I decided "f. K it, I'm going to Pattaya," and poof! Here I am getting Mr. LB eaten alive at cheaper prices and with better looking girls than PP without even trying.
There are some new challenges in Pattaya that I'll write about later, but the main concurrence I have with RakSopheni is that the PP hostess bars are more like Western strip clubs without stripping and without dancing. The girls seem to have little / no incentive to leave with customers. Or should I say it's more like all the empty chasing I used to do with civilians all those decades from 20's to early 50's, only now I have to pay for their lady drinks before striking out. (And I used to be more successful picking up civilians).
I can already anticipate the vitriolic responses I'll get from some old Cambodia hands who know the game inside and out (and some who can speak Khmer), but I have to assure these guys that it's anything but a fun fest for guys like me who want more variety of choices beyond the chaotic hostess clubs, avaricious Viets online, and a couple after hour clubs that would get old in a week.
PP may be a good scene for certain guys who gravitate toward certain types of places, or for those who have a longggggggg time to learn the PP game, but if you only have a short precious vacation to fill up your score card, you'the be taking a big risk spending it in the Cambodia capital, if love or something like it is what you mainly crave. Luckily, I have almost a month this time, so I cut my losses, jumped on a cheap flight to Suvarnabhumi, 75 minute taxi to Pattaya, and the beauteous routine of the late December Gulf of Thailand coast: sleep til 11, coffee on my balcony looking at the sea as I dick around on the internet and respond to the dozens of new offers I've gotten from girls on my mobile, 1 pm swim in my quiet clean pool in the sunshine, exploring the outskirts on my rental motorbike, napping and coffee at 5 as I make multiple evening dates, feasting on amazing Thai food for $2. 50 before deciding which of the numerous choices I'll pursue after dark: Go go bar? Walking Street? Soapy massage? Upstairs quicky on Soi 6? FL at live music bar / Coconut Bar beach / Thai Friendly? Milfy bar girl from beer bar? BBBJ at gentleman's club? Last night I wasn't even horny (having pounded a hot 25 year old to oblivion the previous night and yesterday morning), so I was just chilling with a beer at a quiet bar until some newly arrived bar girl in her ms santa's outfit caught my attention and drew me into Christmas eve / morning of rock them sock them all out fornication.
I'm in the same mood tonight, but I'm taking a set of Magnums and a vitamin V with me, knowing that unexpected evil lurks around every Pattaya corner.
