Maybe I can get back to street, which I think is what one or two people more fluent than me are trying to explain. .
It's not the technical precision of a term for me as much as how it is used (as I'm good at getting by and very bad at 'correct' Portuguese, so apologies). For instance, when going through the adverts of independents in the newspapers, we need to know what they are trying to say.
'Black' and 'white', afaiaa, are not used in Brasil the way they are in the US. Anyone with dark skin in the US is 'black' (negra) , whereas in Brasil it is reserved for very Black Afro-origin (and bear in mind the racial issues which can make it quite laden).
So when checking out garotas, context is everything. Branca (white) and negra (black) are unambiguous. Preta, like negra, means black. Branca means white coloured, whereas someone who is just darker skinned (like a brown paper bag) would be black in the US but not black in Brasil.
Morena can be about skin colour or hair, so obviously if the context includes 'blonde' (Ela e loura ou morena?) we're just asking about hair colour. Morena or negra? Or morena ou branca? And we're on skin colour.
Negra.
Branca.
Bem branca.
Bem morena.
Loura or Lourinha.
. . . someone who is morena or mulata is somewhere in between.
I might be wrong. I have plenty of dictionaries and language courses picked up in Brasil and at home (handy to keep in the apartment for reference). But I rely more on how the guy or girl on the barstool says it after a couple of beers.
One more thing for the fluent Porto speakers. Words like 'legal' are cool in conversation, but won't help anyone who hasn't heard them, because the English word 'legal' doesn't sound remotely like it. After seeing them on here, try them on Google Translate audio facility if you need to (though even that sounds like it has a finger up its bottom LOL)
But back to the women, such lovely variations, and I like to try them all!
Nothing wrong with Rosetta Stone but it is not the end all language course. Moreno is not a colloquialism. In the Houaiss Dicionario of the lingua portuguesa,"castanha escuro" (dark brown) is used in one of the definitions of moreno.
1. Individual with dark skin tone, between black and the dark tan.
2. Individual of white skin naturally darker or sun tanned.
3. One whose hair color varies from dark-brown to black.
Poucolouco is very correct in his appreciations.
I'm sure it sounds confusing but all those 3 variables are correct.
It depends very much on the conversation. And, as I explained before, you can have strange combinations like a light skin girl with dark hair being called "a morena".
FYI: My first lenguage is Spanish. And I lived for 6 years in Brazil.
Informed by a girlfriend of mine that all meninas will have to lose the bikinis and wear dresses or normal clothes in the boite from Feb 1st, new rule to be enforced by police. Hopefully exagerated, but sad news if true! Probably all Termas will end up having to follow suit if true. Rios a changing.
On my last full day in Rio De Janeiro I decided to take the Metro up to 4x4.
Arrived in Centro a little early and waited around A little people watching having a Coco water.
At 2:00 pm I made it in the Terma, my second trip to this place, took a shower then to the Bar.
The Bar / Club is smaller then I Imagined and could use a remodel IMO but is still a Great place for the Price.
Maybe 5-6 Girls in the Club so far 4-5 guys. After a few Skols and half an hour. I see Doda A brace faced 21yr old, I motion her over liking what I saw.
She is the kind of "Barely Legal " looking girl guys in the States would pay $600+ for, not really my thing but when I did mention Completa her face lit up.
Her English bad my Porto Terrible, we get Friendly I ask her is Photo taking available she nods.
I decide on the 40 min Cabin wanting to save time and money. We head almost straight to the Room. She talks about working out her body is tight probably from Roids, looks great now but would hate to see it in 10 yrs.
On to some great Sexo, all positions ending in some great Ass Pounding.
I take a shower head back to the Boate for a few minutes and see her again on my way out, Those Girls don't take long to get back to Business.
Great First Trip to Rio, not much sleep, lots of tourist stuff, Samba School, Sugar Loaf, Christ etc. Will be back in 4-6 Months.
Rental bikes are available all over Rio now.

Although I have a couple of very nice bikes which I brought from the US, I would still consider renting the public bikes if I were going into an area that was not so secure. The website includes a map with pickup locations. A couple of routes I took recently included Copabana-Ipanema-Leblon beaches, Lagoa, Leme-Botafogo-Flamengo-Santo Dumont.
The bikes are getting a lot of use and are seen everywhere.
Hungry try rewinding that stone. I think it sux as far as language learning goes, but I know they had to mention garota at least somewhere towards the beginning. They usually have a phrase like,"The girl is jumping," as well as "The girl is wearing a red shirt." Most of their stuff centers around "the man," "the lady," "the girl," "the boy."
Meninas, Mulhers, Moҫas, crianças but no garota? Não entendi. I was kind of wondering if "Garota" and "Morena" were words used by circles that members of this board normally associate with and not the general Brasilian public. I was a little nervous about useing these terms around my business associates. I already found out when I said "GDP" and "Termas" around a new hire he said to me "How do you now these words? You know to much. These are only words used in Brasil" Now we laugh because Gus is now a fellow hobbyist.

The problem is, if they are wearing street clothing this covers up flaws that are otherwise apparent. Hopefully, the GDP's will wear black tube minnis with stockings and heels. Some Shots Around Rio
A few More.
& the Last, should give any New Monger a good Idea of what to Expect.

Also my first visit to MC last week most of the Girls would mention Washington D.C. in the Conversation. Guess Some new talent will replace those Hos when they move to D.C.

I remember getting pissed two years ago when they let a girl wear jean shorts in the boite. I actually asked the manager why she was wearing that shit instead of a thong! Now they have to wear dress and street clothes! What has happened to the Rio I knew and loved?
& the Last, should give any New Monger a good Idea of what to Expect.
Thanks for your contribution MoneyShot. You have definitely shown new people what to realistically expect through your reports as well as your stellar photos. I don't know if I have ever seen this kind of reporting back by a new person. You sure have set the bar high.
