Went today to this place and ordered pad thai. What they brought out was dish swimming in soy sauce that had no resemblance to what I ordered-more like chop suey than pad thai. They also had no Thai condiments. Apparently the only thing Thai about the place is the name. Don't expect Thai food here.

I agree, the food there is suspect, the drinks are weak. The only reason to go there is the view from the deck gives you a shot of some great eye candy as they make their way around the few blocks of PJ. Regards. TNF
Ya I know that place sux but the real thai is in p. Lleras called royal thai. Owner is thai, and I know thai! And it is good! Panang gai, spring rolls and cashew chicken is a great meal for 2!

Don't forget we have a board for food in Colombia.
Don't forget we have a board for food in Colombia.
And a NEW hardly used thread for "INFO FOR NEWBIES" And one for Travel Announcements, General Information, Colombian Peso exchange rate and related issues. Etc etc
TLN is often a good value but I understand what the "old hand" is saying, there are times where you take a girl TLN and wind up banging twice, that's pretty much a wash in terms of money (I am speaking generally here so don't go attacking with specific examples).
As far as the example there, I have never once known a girl who considered TLN 24 hours, maybe I am just fuzzy fucking from fucking all night myself but that sounded like something that started at 9AM and ended the next morning.
Of course I try to avoid all this bullshit by just keeping actual girlfriends (non pre pagos) and some favorites who understand that my steady buck is better than a little more cash that may or may not come during the same time period. I hate the negotiating side of shit, either forge a nice understanding or just go somewhere with fair rates and pay them (e. G. MPs) is your best bet IMHO (as the crown moans,"Ha! Your opinion? Humble!").
Do they seem familiar?
Guys, food in Medellin suck big time. It is a shithole city, if not because of the Paisitas pussy, I wouldn't step a foot there. Food sucks, drivers are dangerously aggressive and stupid and they will run you over in a heart beat if you don't watch yourself, weather suck, it rains almost everyday with thunders and lightning along with the rain, people lie in your face while they smile at you, they will stab you in the back. Word of advice, when you go out to eat and you see a sign in a restaurant saying Italian food, Lebanese food, Chinese food etc. Food ignore it. They only use the names, but the cook is a Paisa who does not know an egg from a watermelon. I warned you, take or leave it, that was my dos centavos.
I do not post often, but I do read the board quite often. I did not have a wingman this trip so I flew solo. I am having a wonderful time. My comment is about Psychman and he is the most level headed and non polarizing person on this board. He tells it straight and is very accurate.
Cheers
Gracias. Sometimes I find myself getting drawn into some of the pettiness I see on boards- but I try not to. Not always easy.
As far as Medellin being a shithole, I guess to each his own. The city has amazing cultural events if you are into literature and the arts or lectures, supported by a very strong university community. I guess the question is what do you want in a place? What are the activities you wish to do when you are on vacation? If you want to fuck all day, certainly Medellin is prime for that. I you want activities geared toward English speaking tourists, it really is not the best place. That said, there are plenty of day trips and enough museums and tours of the city to keep the casual visitor busy for a few days at least. Trips to the villages and pueblos in the area are fun as well. Tons of opporturnities for hiking if your into it. We all have our interests, no?
If you like to wonder a city and soak up the daily life, I. E. The local markets, ect, it is fine but not great. I like to take the Metro (during the morning preferably, when the world is always a bit safer) , and explore various stops. Of course, you need to research and know where you are, and pay attention. Hiring a driver to take you around is an option too.
The food is nowhere on the scale of Lima, Mexico, or Thailand, but some of the soaps such are quiet lovely and sophisticated, even in the most humbled place to eat.
In general, I would say that it is not the greatest place if your Spanish sucks or if you really want a place with a strong tourist infestructure. I think the city has also been changing due to an influx of gringos, but some of those perceieved changes make be based upon the perspective of those whose interests are different than my own.
Basically, being able to get out of my daily rurtine, have sexy women treat me like a sex god, and not have any responsiblities other is a fucking privledge- I like wherever I am.
Hello,
I have about 2 weeks to spend in Colombia in the beginning of December and can't decide on the best itinerary and how to divide my time between various towns. I am leaning towards spending most of the time in Medellin because of its supposed great weather, paisas, the vibe, day trips, lower cost of living, etc. Bogota, on the other hand, appears to have more things to do. I will be flying NYC to BOG anyways and then a connecting flight to MDE, so airfare isn't really a factor. The longer I stay at one place, the better deal I can get on the apartment and work on my game with the girls.
I speak very comfortable Spanish and have been able to get a decent amount of non-pro action in Peru and Argentina. This will be my first time in Colombia.
So gentlemen, in your opinion, should I just stick to MDE and save BOG for the next time? Will I be bored out of my mind? May be I should visit Cali for a couple of days. What is the best itinerary for a monger?
You comments are greatly appreciated.

Yeah, right.
