Mongering in WanChai during Chines New Year weekend
Hello Fellows,
I could visit Hongkong next weekend. Since it's the Chinese New Year weekend I am wondering whether the typical places (New Makati, Nep III, Amazonia etc.) in Wan Chai will be packed or will all girls celebrate with their families? Will the maid parade on Sunday (Bar109 etc.) take place or should I assume a more quiet Sunday?
Bar109 and New Makati on Monday 11th / Tuesday 12th February
This sounds pretty interesting! Thanks a bunch. I guess I'll have to fly in based on your comment
Sorry for asking more details about the 109bar.
I had the pleasure to join one of the Sunday morning maid parades three month ago. It was really a lot of fun and flirting with a very cute girl.
Since there will be the public holidays next week one question: Can I expect the same party on Monday and / or Tuesday next week. Similar to the regular Sunday ones?
Christmas in Wanchai, etc.
I recently spent some days around Christmas in Wan Chai, and the bars were really hopping. If you're not going away for Christmas, then it's a fun place to spend the holidays. I went to the following places:
Escape. It was always my first stop of the night, but it's a shadow of the former Fenwick's. Maybe the girls stayed away because most of the expats were away, but it was my first stop of every night, but I turned around and left because it was so empty. There were quite a few girls in there, but it's so damn dark in there you can't get a good look at the girls.
Neptune 3. I only went in once or twice. It seemed like an insider's place, not so many people. I didn't have a good feeling about the place and left right away.
New Makati (2?). This is my favorite bar in Wan Chai by far. It was rocking every night I was there, and by asking the manager nicely, I got an entry card for the Christmas Eve / Christmas Day / New Year's parties. Maybe there are a lot of Filipinas there, but I'm not able to make them out. It seems like all Indonesians to me. And the usual drunk expats. Why is it that really tall (like 6'+) caucasians lose all sense of their surroundings when they (we) have had a few and just mindlessly bump into everyone in their path? I'm always nervous about going there on the weekend, because I met a very nice DH that always finds me and limits my options.
Amazonia. This was a great new find for me this trip. The Filipino band knocks out excellent heavy metal covers but can immediately switch to decent reggae. I didn't have any problem with overly aggressive waitresses or girls asking for lady drinks at all. I think the waitresses were normally aggressive. I met a lovely petite Vietnamese woman there with a sultry beautiful face. Back to the room, and she says she's had two kids, pendulous but still awesome C-cup breasts. I forgot myself and didn't negotiate a price before, so she asked for 1500 and of course took off right after the first pop. She seemed to know other girls there, so Amazonia seems like a Vietnamese place to me.
I just checked hotel prices, and they're sky-high during the Feb. 10-13 Chinese New Year period, so you probably need to have a reservation already unless you want to spend at least $250 a night.
Speaking of hotels, I'm like some suggestions of where to stay. I usually stay at the Metropark, which is right in the center of the action. I stayed at the Burlington once-it's kind of a strange serviced apartment. I'm looking for something a little more upscale (and with more international TV channels) but not too expensive? How is the Empire?
