Arrived in Shanghai a week ago - we were told to stay in our seats, and 2 teams of people in full biohazard suits entered the plane and took everyone's temperature. First pass is some device that puts 4 red dots on your head. If that one is suspicious, round two is with a standard electronic oral thermometer. They put on disposable covers, but I'll but they re-stack them later for reuse...
It is a rather scary process - who knows what the guy 2 rows and on the opposite side of the plane has going on. It looks like a rote and unthinking response. Swinging in the opposite direction of the SARS response is also not a good solution.
I wonder what they are going to do once the real flu season starts... already had some colleagues decide NOT to come to China for a trade show, because they were worried about the quarantine. Great - just when they need more travellers here, the new policy scares people away.

OK, I was certain I could find a way to make this into a little gold mine, or at least pay some small dividends. I was sorely mistaken.
Over the past couple months I've tried out about 10 numbers from CG. I intentionally went for the ones that I thought were most likely to have real pictures (i.e. not those obvious fake ones, ad said "100% really photo", etc.), or in a few cases I just abandoned the idea that the girl would be the one in the photo and went for quality massage, service, etc.
Here are the results:
Number of photos that were real: ZERO
Number of girls that said their photos were really, really, really real, even after questioning on phone: ALL OF THEM
Number of girls that up-sold: ALL OF THEM
Average price quoted on CG: 200 to 300 RMB
Average starting asking price: 2000 (some even quoted prices for "happy" or "happy ending" online at 500 but immediately went up to 1500-2000 once in bed)
Average landing price: 1000 to 1500, and two girls left with nothing when I tried to bargain to 800
Average quality of massage (1 to 10): 1 (only because I didn't include zero as an option here)
Average quality of sex (1 to 10): 5 or 6...a few did ok, none rocked my world.
Average looks for the girls: Surprisingly not bad in this category, but not nearly as good as the pictures, even the "natural looking" pictures
Average punctuality: 30 min to 1 hour later than promised, and unbelievably three NO SHOWS (they messaged hours later saying they had been busy and could they come immediately now, but I never replied).
There seem to be a few adds on there for no up-selling (500, 700, and 800 prices listed right on the subject lines), which are the three I didn't try since there's no way those photos are real. I should have though. Maybe I will sometime, but I'm so burned out on CG that I've had it for the time being. Anyone who has feel free to inform us.
Conclusion - Avoid CG like the plague and leave it to the business travelers who don't know any better or don't care.

Arrived this morning for the second stay in SH. I have read through the forum these past few week and documented all your suggestions/remarks in a 40 page word document including maps.
Fist I contacted a lady I met through POF (plentyoffish). But she only wanted meet me at my hotel if I send her my picture (which she already had) and my birthday. I think I took one for the team on this one:
Stayed here for 1 night. Went to the desk at 1st floor and looked into the menu. It looked all quite legit and took a swedish massage for 480.

3. It's a full service joint at Motel 168 airport where you'll get slam fucked by a rough-and-tumble airport horizontal bop artist, and, well, still get hit with a 800 RMB price tag.
Who knows?
Again, I haven't had a chance to try it, so can make absolutely no promises.
But, it is an option at the airport.

Given the recent crackdown with spas and saunas around Shanghai, I have changed my tactics when it comes to mongering.
