Maybe Black Mongers like to travel also!
I have noticed that over the law few years there have been much more black mongers coming to sosua. I wonder why?
Wow, I've never heard a more stupid question, I appologize my fellow mongers, Maybe beerdrinker mustve had one to many beers! I have a news flash! Black Mongers, go for the same,
Reason that whites, asians, latinos etc, to have fun with exotic women, and another news flash, not all black mongers,
Overpay, I'm along way from Ny area, on that left coast California, area and I've over paid when I didn't, know any.
Better. So Oregon, Washington and California area, weve all overpaid, due to ignorance, or not knowing any better,
But 7 trips later, I'm still considered a newbie, but alot more advanced, than my first trip, I guess the tone of this.
Board has taken a unintended turn, and 98% of you mongers I will never meet, but Whites, Blacks, Aliens, E. T,
Darth Vader, to Star Trek captain kirk, will probaly overpay in Sosua, maybe not Darth Vader he has the force,
And I gurantee. 10 years from now, this debate will be alive and well, probaly bitching aabout the same old crap,
And shoutout, to my hip hop brothers from NYC, as well as my white brothers from Montana, I love you all.
Back to our regular schedule program
Gentlemen gentlemen,
I believe we've venture WAY off course with the blk man from NY over pays topic. One group of people or anybody else for that matter is NOT going to affect how much you pay in Sosua. You as a person will affect it. Now last I check we were in the middle of a good trip report before shit went left field.
Mr. Enternational as you were.
The problem with generalizations.
To Frannie.
*
Interesting attempt to explain why so many Blacks go to DR, but I have.
Comments:
*
Transportation- this assumption is flawed because anyone willing to deal.
With a layover in Miami or Atlanta can get to the DR, thus all Blacks that.
You see in the DR aren't from NY (I live in Maryland and go frequently).
*
Tolerance of paying for sex: Your assumption that the Black Community is.
'more tolerant of paying for sex' is ignorant and borderline racist as is.
The assumption that military Blacks 'developed a taste for paying for sex.
Over seas. '* My family and closest friends are absolutely mortified that I.
Go to the DR for that purpose, but as a single man, I make my own.
Decisions. * I see no need to hide what I do from anyone, as the only one.
That has to live with my decisions is me. * To cast such malicious.
Assumptions about a whole group of people (e. G. That the Black Community as.
A whole is fine with prostitution) is not only offensive, but absolutely.
Idiotic. * For the record, research has shown that Blacks are among the most.
Spiritual races on the planet, and that spirituality does not embrace.
Prostitution.
*
Hip-hoppers- I do agree that mongering is a middle class activity, and that.
Your assertion that you can't assume anything about a Black that you see in.
Sosua who is wearing baseball caps, athletic jerseys and the like is.
Correct. * However, its interesting (in a distressing sort of way) that the.
Best you would assume for a Black Man in the DR is that he is a 'corporate.
Employee or civil servant in their day jobs or that they are some kind of.
Responsible job-cop, firefighter, prison guard, and playing the part of hip-
Hopper as a kind of fantasy fulfillment. '* Unless you are a sociologist.
That studies Black Men, I'the suggest that you leave the generalizations to.
Social scientists because you sound like a bigot. * I am Black and a monger.
That happens to hold a Ph. D, makes a six figure salary, owns my own home.
And has 2 cars (both paid for) and when I go to the DR I am on vacation.
Thus I wear baggy pants, my ear ring, my hat on backwards, etc. * All of.
That is because I am relaxing. * Also, I am not playing the role of a hip-
Hopper, that is part of my culture and I choose to fully express it when I.
Am on vacation. * Please stop assuming that you know everything about Black.
Life. * It sounds ignorant. * Hell, I am Black and I wouldn't assume that I.
Know everything about Black life.
Actually it is an interesting question, that could be considered on a number of levels.
1. Transportation. Flights from the US to POP originate out of Miami, Atlanta, and the New York area. Atlanta is a predominantly Black city, but I suspect that when we are talking about African-American mongers, we oten tend to be referring to guys coming from the New York region, flying out of airports in that area.
2. When I discovered the DR as a good place for sex, I immediately asked myself why there were relatively so few mongers in Sosua. Wouldn't every single guy in the Eastern US want to get down there a few times a year and get fucked stupid?
However, when I thought about this, it appeared to me that the vast majority of guys have family ties and contacts who know where they are at all times and who would strongly disapprove of even a suspicion that they were traveling for purposes of paid sex. Also religious and church affiliation is a factor for a significant part of the population, and a vast percentage of the population does not live within 4 hours drive of one of the gateway airports, making access for a "lost weekend" less convenient and more expensive.
3. In my work I know hundreds of people and it is well known that I have been to the Dominican Republic many times and that I have a Dominican wife, and that I speak Spanish. Sometimes I am called on to translate. Yet over several years NO ONE has ever asked me about prostitution in the DR. Not even my male friends, although I get the occasional oblique hint about attractive Dominican women.
I think this is because this would be seen as a very inappropriate thing to ask about in the workplace, and because I have an ultra respectable image, so people would not dare raise the topic with me for fear of causing offense. I want it this way. I would not want there to be even a whisper to suggest that I am a person who would use prostitutes.
When I travel to the DR, I always travel alone (or with wife). No one other than some people who know me in the DR knows that I have ever paid for sex.
4. Black mongers in Sosua or at Blackbeards often seem to travel in groups, or at least in pairs. This suggests to me that they are much less concerned about being exposed back home, so I wonder whether the black community in the US is more tolerant of paying for sex than the community at large. Another factor may be that there are many African Americans in the military, who may have developed a taste for paying for sex while serving overseas, and many of the AA mongers we see in Sosua may be ex-military.
I know that when I was a young man I would not have dreamed of paying for sex, because it would have seemed to me that such a thing was sleazy and an admission of failure to be found sexually attractive by potential partners. I didn't pay for sex until I was in the late 40's and the age differential equation came into play. Simply put, by paying I could have sex with a woman younger than what I could get for free (and better looking too) and since I was now more affluent, and less concerned about looking for "relationships", the inhibitions about paying for sex were lifted.
5. To be a monger and travel to Sosua requires that you have a passport and a reasonable amount of money. This rules out convicted felons and the poor and makes mongering basically a middle class pursuit. While you may see guys in Sosua at the weekend wearing basketball shirts, baseball caps on backwards, and earings, chances are that they are respectable citizens-corporate employees or civil servants-in their day jobs, or that they have some kind of responsible uniformed job-cop, firefighter, prison guard and that they are playing the part of "hip-hopper" as a kind of fantasy fulfillment.
Maybe we need a new thread.
I see a disturbing number of racist and semi racist comments from my fellow mongers. Maybe we need to open a cultural sensitivity thread to help everyone keep a civil tongue in their heads. BTW, I love Sosua. (see how I keep it on topic for this thread).
