Firstly, relax, I have been through the experience you are going through. I know how you feel.

If is highly unlikely that your partner had HIV. And even if she did, the probability to get infected through one single act is very low. I had searched a lot on internet during my chaos time and I got to understand about the virus from this great site 'medhelp'. You can learn about your situation from this site. It really helped me in gaining some confidence that I was not infected.

Secondly, a sincere advice to all the fellow mongers, please visit this site, you will know how and what are the risks involved and how to protect us.

Finally, I advice you brother that you go for 4th generation duo test (commonly called as combo test). This is also called as P24 antigen test. You can get it done at any Dr Lal pathlabs, they maintain your tests anonymous. It would cost you hardly 1000 max.

The advantage of this test is that, unlike other HIV tests, which looks for HIV antibodies, this test looks for the P24 antigen and antibody. The P24 antigen is formed earlier than the antibodies, hence this is the test all doctors prescribe if you are recently exposed, so that you need not wait for the 3 months window period.

P24 antigen combo test can detect 100% infections at least 28 days after potential exposure. So, I advice you to keep patience till then and get this test done.

However, I strongly feel, you are not infected. HIV is V difficult to get, and you should not decide based on your symptoms, they can be because of anxiety and stress.

Be safe and come back with your results. I will not be surprised if you are HIV negative.

Its a little mix of anxiety and guilt after an act. It mite be the coldness during winter or any other such possible cases. Juts another piece of info if you really want to test yourself to overcome the HIV thought, elisa test can be done after 3 weeks and again after 3 months from the day of act. I don't want o scare you by saying get tested just to make you chill.
