Hotel Macedonia Plaza, Plaza Mayor, and Central Plaza are the same ownership. Not sure about Caravan. Cantral Plaza is the best hotel in Mayorista. But it is a little too distant to bring a girl from Mayo strip.

Either she had prior gringo boyfriends who paid for English classes, has traveled to Costa Rica or Panana to "work", been or lived in the states or come from money where here family paid for her English classes and she doesn't need you. Any "regular" girl will worry more about wondering were the money's coming for her phone bill, almuerzo, buseta or metro money. No extra $$$ for English classes.

She is very low key, humble and we've become friends, her seeing me outside the casa as friends with no money discussed, I just help her as I like.

She's definitely the excpetion, and just has a knack for languages as she learned from books and TV.

Actually is strange for me speaking english in Colombia, but she likes to practice, so with her it's english only.

Nice girls in MDE and some of them even speak English, but how exactly is a typical vacationing foreigner going to find them and befriend them?

Chasing non-pros can be fun, and many of us do it in the States. But doing it on a vacation in MDE is problematical, even if you look like Clooney / Pitt / etc.

Assuming that HelpRules is going to be in MDE for a week or so, and knowing that he speaks no Espanol, he may as well go where play-for-pay is easiest.

For the 1000 time; If you don't speak Spanish your chances are slim on hunting down a "regular" girl. Most people in Colombia do not even speak minimal English.

If you do not have ANY Spanish skills and only a few days (less than two weeks) you are most likely SHIT OUT OF LUCK with non pros! Stay at Casa Blanca; You'll have a great time and be in your comfort zone.

Just returned from a fantastic trip to Medellin. Now if I could just kick this post nasal drip I acquired on the plane home!

I have to say that learning Spanish really pays off. I have these CDs in my car that have been repeating over and over for months. Sitting in traffic has never been more productive. Being able to spend a full day with a chica and even a second date changes the game completely! My Spanish is not great but I can get by. At times, the gringo tax was in full effect, especially during my short stay at CB. But otherwise, with just a little patience and putting forth a good effort, I was shown an unaccountable amount of compassion and generosity. In general, the people are so freaking friendly it makes me sad when I realize how desperate and impatient we gringos act in spite of all the luxuries and conveniences we so blindly take for granted. I think to make a better impression while visiting their country, we just need to slow down a little. I recommend games. Cards, dice, checkers. Whatever you can think of. I found a backgammon board in my apartment! Hours of entertainment, fabulous prizes and limited demand for Spanish vocabulary! Question. Whats the best way to get to and from the major cities. Specifically to CTG from MDE? I know in Peru, plane tickets are a lot less expensive if a local resident buys them. Is this the case in Colombia as well? Post in the forum or PM me. Thanks. I will say you should learn at least basic spanish. My mongering improved 100, after I was able to speak spanish and portuguese. I am now about 25% speaking those 2 languages. There is just no replacement for being able to talk to the girls when you interview them, and when you take them to dinner or a disco. Sure, your paying them, but it makes it more GFE and they will come see you again for cheaper. Hell, if you live there for a few months, they might see you for free after a while. Start with the book- Spanish in 10 minutes a day. It will give you the most important words, and from there you can move on to more advanced books.
