Looking at what defines culture across the centuries and across the world I can think of four main drivers:

- History.

- Language.

- Religion.

- Art.

Haïti has a short but extraordinarily influential history, inspiring liberation movements across the world, especially in Asia and Africa, not to mention its decisive role in the European power struggles of the 18th century and Napoleonic era. So long as France enjoyed the wealth pouring in from one small island it was top dog in Europe economically and military. Having lost Haïti, it was never no. 1 nation again.

The Dominican Republic, on the other hand, has no history to speak of, other than "local" history. Just a continuous series of meaningless brawls between gangster-like leaders from which nothing has ever evolved.

Haïti has its own language and a rich literary tradition. The DR does not, just using debased Spanish with minimal literary tradition.

Haïti has its own religion which is extremely rich and complex. DR does not, preferring a perfunctory and imported Catholicism, braindead "happyclapping" or a watered down version of vodou called santeria which most Dominicans are ashamed of, and many deny exists.

Haïtian art is famous all over the world and was particularly influential on many giants of European art of the C20 like Picasso. The best Dominican artists would struggle to get their work represented even in a small town art gallery in any other country.

Funnily enough, you will see Haitian paintings hanging on the walls of the most racist Dominican individuals and institutions so even Dominicans recognize there is no contest in that area.

Now if RR had chosen to say that the DR is a tolerable country to live in (after all, I chose to move here from the UK) whereas Haïti is such a desperate shithole that only a popular revolution can now change it, he would get no argument from me. But that is a whole different issue from "culture".

The saga continues. I have confirmation that one of our girls Mr. Gogo and I know is prego! This time I took it a little slow since I've been chillin with a novia. Shit! Can't lie. Ok so she works during the day which leaves me all by my lonesome so I bumped into Vicky and yeah! I tore it up. Took a nap and then took the novia to eat. In two weeks I will be headed back to Sosua. Anyone going to be there may 2nd thru the 6th? I'm going during the week because that is all my schedule will allow me. I will be staying at D' Piero again. I think its a nice place and a good bargin for the money. Hopefully the airline doesn't loose my bag this time. I plan on taking it easy this time, but last time I was there just this past March I went to a concert which was pretty cool. Anyway, just checking to see who will all be in town while I'm there.

There are beautiful beaches in parts of Haiti, labor is inexpensive in Haiti, food costs are probably high, seems to me that it would be possibly to build all inclusive or beach front resorts in Haiti, that could at least get some of the Tourism dollar that goes to other countries like Jamaica or Dom Rep.

I have been many places in the DR and I can say honestly that Sosua is my Favorite. When I go anywhere else I feel lost like I'm alone in another country but when I'm in sosua I feel right at home.

I arrived Sunday the 10th of April and checked into Sosua by the sea resort. Substandard motel 6 quality rooms and incompetent staff ultimately had me seeking another location to sleep. I did use the safe and left most of my clothes there. I walked out my room at 3pm and the first thing I noticed was Sosua was as dead as a cemetery. Nobody was on the streets not even the motochonco guys. My first rule of business was to see if there were any women at new garden. At the desert shop on the corner next to the baseball field were about four girls lounging. No women at new garden so I doubled back and got one of the cute ones. New garden wants 70 American for a room. The website says different but I was more concerned with the chica. She showered and we started. She didn't want to do anything claiming her throat was sore, her vagina was sore. Figured I was a fool so I asked her to leave. She still wanted 2000 pesos. I did manage to get some oral from her and about 15 minutes of doggy style from her. I gave her 1000 pesos and she left. I have 2 photos of her I'll post under the name 'lazy girl'

I walked back to the ice cream spot but the chicas have dispersed. One of the motochonco guys drove me to la passions which had a very disappointing selection. Three girls and they seemed less likely to perform so I declined. One asked me how many chicas you need. I said 10 and all at once. Big laugh! The same motochonco guy told me he had a good chica. He carried me to Cmp. The Lite skin chica I had from my previous trip was waiting on me. I promised to buy her way out and we'the spend two days together. Once I arrived I noticed another lite skin chica I wanted so I asked her to wait until she got off and to come to my hotel. 2500 pesos with no budge room. I accepted and we went to the room. She honestly wanted to hacer la amor more then me. She was all cowgirl and I was asking her about a possible phone. She was disturbed. I came on her belly as she requested. She gave me her number but I actually asked for her phone. Ahh well!

Now in order for my lite skin Cmp chica to reach me that night I would need a phone. She gave me hers and said wait for the call. I agreed. I used her phone and called Gucci girl from my previous trip. Gucci girl leaves in Sosua so I just dropped by. She reacted like I proposed to her. All smiles and hugs. Gave me her I'd and her cell phone because remember I didn't have one yet wink wink. Now I have two phones. We agreed to meet at New Garden in an hour. I walked up to El flow where all the women were. Darkness brings swarms and swarms of chicas. Hot ones! I ordered the chicken wings and French fries from Rumba bar and walked around asking for numbers. A few chicas grabbed me and refused to let go. Ahhh Sosua! 15 minutes later food was ready. 200 pesos and I proceeded to walk back new garden. Gucci girl arrived shortly afterwards. Got a salad and water and we headed to the room. Probably the best oral sex ever. She was extremely tight so sex was a little limited. I came 1500 pesos she left and I remained in the bed. 10:00pm I walked out my door and the same motochonco guy from earlier had another Stallion for me. No thanks. Got her number and proceeded back to calle.

Classicos wasn't open yet but the street was packed. I walked into Latino's but it was empty. I was being pursued by a few aggressive chicas. One threw ice at me for ignoring her. I sat down at the bar below classic and watched all the beautiful chicas arrived dressed to impress. I purchased a beer to please the waitress. I passed out shortly afterwards. Remember the Cmp chica who gave me her phone? Well she called like 20 times but I was out cold. Woke up at 5am and noticed all the calls but its too late now. Walked up to classicos but everything was done. A motochonco guy took me to another spot. Saw a chica outside. Pretty decent so we rode into the sunset. When I arrived at new garden I didn't have change to pay the motochonco but a fellow monger was outside paid the 50 pesos. He also wanted my chica. He delivered a slew of Spanish lines and got her phone number before I could get her in the room. We did the deed. I took a few pictures of her which I'll label 'late night chica'. The service was todo la noches mostly because it was 5am. She was a great provider. Performed and went to sleep. Day one

Just booked my flight. I stayed at NG before, but I am considering Terra Linda this time around. I asked for some home villa / rental ideas, but nobody responded. Thanks Fellas!

Better than nothing, but they would need a 100 of those to make any impact. The other problem is that visitors get a "Disneyland" impression of Haïti. In fact, the cruise line downplays the fact it is in Haïti at all, for fear of frightening the passengers.

A good place to restart the tourist business (it used to be massive) might be Jacmel in the South where cruises used to stop, but they would need a complete new harbor.
