the more popular ac is the bigger target they are. furthermore, anything related to foreigners are big in the news whereas killings in violent neighborhoods might not even make it to the news. of course, one can easily pay a hooker to say whatever they want. planting **** girls, i think, is a much bigger operation, and is guaranteed to be much bigger news.
i haven't seen any proof that ****d prostitution is commonplace in ac. of course i believe it is there somewhere, as well as in other sex-tourism destinations like thailand also. but after thousands and thousands of arrests, they should be able to net more than a handful. nobody, so far, has been able to provide reliable data that ****d prostitution is indeed prevalent. even dubious / fraudulent claims are very low.

This is a quick noobie question. From research it seems that AC is much cheaper than Thailand and Pattaya for that matter. It seems the prices double in Thailand. So why are so many people still heading for Thailand and not AC?
If you could do a SE asian trip and have two weeks to spare for AC and Pattaya, how many days would you devote to each? Obviously you would spend a few days in Pattaya just for the experience. What is so good about Pattaya that is not avaiiable in AC?
Thanks, [/QUOTE]The quick answer is that it is not about the money. If I was a newbie and had 2 weeks to spend in South East Asia, I would spend 5 days in Pattaya, 5 days in AC, and 4 days in BKK or some variant of that.
But why frame the question as either or? Variety is the spice of life. Filipinas, Thais, Khmers, Chinese girls, Indonesians, Mongolian, Vietnamese and Japanese girls are all worth doing. Eating chicken for dinner every day gets boring. Sometimes you want some baby back ribs, or maybe shrimp gumbo. That's why I am glad there is a Thailand and a PI. And by the way, don't limit yourself to just AC and Pattaya. That can get monotonous too, especially when great times can be had in BKK, Macau, HKG, CP, Penh, MNL, and Cebu just to mention a few other worthwhile watering holes. In fact, I prefer BKK over Pattaya and I am not sold on the idea that AC is the best place in PI to monger.
AC and Pattaya are similar in many ways, but are also very different. Both towns are pretty much one horse towns dedicated to loose women and bars, although Pattaya has pretensions to being a beach resort. Pattaya has better restaurants and more non sexual daytime activities. I like taking long walks down Jomtien Beach. You can't do that anywhere in AC. AC has no pretensions or airs that it is something it is not, especially when you are on the strip. And that is not a bad thing.
As to the women; Thai and Filipinas are very different. I could write a short book explaining the differences. I happen to like Thai girls a little better, but it is definitely a good change up to be with Filipinas. Filipinas speak English and act more American if you know what I mean. Thais girls are more mysterious and 'Eastern' again, if you know what I mean. IMHO Thai girls are better looking, have better bodies and are more hygienic. Filipinas can be more GF and wilder in bed. These are big generalizations and I do not mean to apply them to individual girls. YMMV, but as an example I have never mistakenly bar fined a Thai girl while she was on her "mens". ' Thai girls won't do that. But this has happened to me a couple of times with Filipinas.
So generally I prefer Thai girls over Filipinas. Other guys like Filipinas better. It is a matter of personal taste. When I was at Sabang Beach, Palawan in March, I ran into an American guy there on the beach. He had a beautiful Filipina GF with him. She was smoking hot and it was obvious he had known her for a long time. We had a few beers and talked. He was my exact opposite. While I have spent the last 10 years mostly in Thailand (this was my first trip to PI.) , he had spent the last 10 years almost exclusively in PI. You can imagine the conversation we had. Each of us told the other of our favorite hangouts and things we liked best about these two very different countries. I plan to spend more time in PI over the next ten years. There are a lot of fantastic beaches to see and a lot of girls to bang. But I will always stop off in Thailand for obvious reasons. I love Thai girls.
