Please consider the context of Eisenhower's remark
Dwight D Eisenhower, once said that he, 'learned to expect a maximum of promise and a minimum of performance' from Filipinos.
His disagreement with Douglas MacArthur, whom he served as an aide, over this and other issues plagued their relationship throughout their lives. But I wonder down through history how often occupied colonists have attained the undying respect of their occupiers for their diligence and dedication to the occupiers' purposes. Perhaps we should consider statements made by the British about colonists in the pre-revolutionary American colonies.
