Flights in China are actually pretty wierd - to me anyway - and can differ by as much as 50% within the same day. This is especially true for domestic flights whilst those involving Hong Kong not as much.

This being the case, you may want to go to a travel agency like I suggested and be as flexible with your itinerary as possible - especially about travelling from Hong Kong via Shenzhen i/o Hong Kong airport. Shenzhen airport is reachable via a direct bus service from town for approx HK$100 (?) but the savings in air tickets could be much more - ask the guy to figure it all out for you i.e. various ticket options.

You should be able to get an open jaw ticket for below HK$2,000 - even less depending on how flexible you are. Just to give you an example, I've travelled to Shanghai for HK$1,000 and done the same for a low as $530.

By the way, that Zhuhai/Macau side trip with cutting GZ to a minimum suggestion by Qball is also possibly a good idea

It is obvious what happened. After you rejected the girl, she was pissed off and her service reflected that. Also, she may have realized that you were a one time visitor so there was no real need to make you happy.

Although it may be difficult in your case without the language, it is always best to at least pretend that you are a frequent visitor of saunas and know what to expect in terms of service.

Foreigners are often targets of poor service since they are perceived to not know any better.

My reco:

Guangzhou to Beijing (train or air) to Xian (air) to HK (via SZ by air) and back to Guangzhou by through train.

Flights are much cheaper if you buy tickets in China (Ctrip) and fly from Chinese cities rather than in and out of HK.

The train is not a bad way to see the countryside. Bring plenty of snacks to munch on. They have 4 pax sleeper cabins. You may want to buy an extra ticket so you have total privacy, however, if you roam around the train a bit you will be surprised how friendly the passengers will be. It will give you a chance to experience normal Chinese people away from the touristy stuff.

The only think to do in Guangzhou is eat (1 day). They have the best food in China at very reasonable prices. You need 2 days in Beijing, 1 day in Xian and 1-2 days in Hong Kong. This way you can fit in the train ride.

A little background. I'm an ABC that can speak Chinese fluently (I sound like a native when I speak pu tong hua) but my literacy is somewhat limited. I was on vacation on a trip involving hopping through a few cities throughout China and part of the fun I was planning to have was from the information I got from RTFF.

I had two experiences in Guangzhou. The first was at the hotel I stayed at, YiHe Hotel (416 HuanshiDong Road). The first floor has a massage parlor and the girls will sit in the hallway outside of it and from there they can see the patrons in the lobby and waiting for the elevator. If you even look like you might be interested in their services, they will ask if you want a massage.

The girls I saw there were all very pretty, no old or chubby girls at all. The price is 150RMB for a 2 hour massage. I decided on a girl and, having friends up in the hotel room, decided to partake in the parlor itself instead. They have two private rooms for incall massages. Once inside the girl asked me to undress fully and proceeded to give me a very good massage. After flipping me over on my back, she asked me if I wanted her to give me a blow job. I asked how much extra it would be and the price I was quoted was 800 RMB. Being the first time doing this kind of thing in Asia, I wasn't really in the mood to negotiate but she quickly agreed to 650RMB without much haggling. Now, I know that's high for this area, but then again this was in a very nice hotel with a decent amount of laowai traffic. I'm sure I could've gotten it down to around 450 RMB if I spent a little more time haggling. Oh well. She put a condom on at that point and gave me a very good CBJ. After I finished, she said that she could do a lot more in an outcall setting and asked me to let her know if she ever wanted me to come up.

My second experience in Guangzhou was a lot better, as it was a local acquaintance who offered to take me to a place to get some full service action. We took a taxi out to the Waking Town Hotel 368 ZhongShan Da Dao, in Tian He (? 368?). There is a massage parlor on I believe the 3rd floor. We went in, and my friend immediately had the girl at the desk summon the girls. In came 2 girls, both mediocre looking, and he dismissed them and had them bring out came two slightly better looking ones. We went through this process 3 or 4 times before I found a girl who was truly exceptional. The price was 218RMB for the "massage" and 300RMB tip for FS. The girl was absolutely amazing, and unfortunately I don't remember her name. In any case, 518RMB total for incall service. She offered to come out to my hotel for 400RMB plus round trip cab fare next time, offering me her cell phone number so she could take care of me without having to pay the house their cut (and saving me 218RMB for the "massage" service). Didn't get her number as I was flying out of Guangzhou the next day anyways, but will definitely go back there next time I'm in town.

Yep, the train from the main train station to BJ takes exactly 24 hours.

I did it years ago and we had an 8 year old with us, so it can be done with a kid.

One of my favorite HJ places just reopened after the crackdown. I stopped by last night. I was pointed in the direction of a big sign that evidently read, as I was told, that only Thai massage service is now available with no happy ending for 25 RMB per hour. It used to be 40 RMB for a massage including a happy ending. I walked.

The crackdown is getting worse, not better, in my neck of the woods. There were no SWs out last night around 9PM. I ended up having to settle for a lame HJ at a legit BBS with massage services upstairs for 30 RMB + 50 RMB tip.
