I met her while she was working at Big C. She put on a big smile as I passed so I doubled back and was able to make a date with her. She is 28 but I thought she was 19. With her broken English and my even more broken Thai we are able to communicate okay.
We went to the movies last night in her car. I had to make her get something from the snack bar. She was steadily feeding me popcorn and catering to me. Before we left out we forgot to get the parking ticket validated. The lady said we would have to pay 60 baht. She had a fit. I tried to pass her 60 baht to give to the lady but she absolutely refused to give the money. And being the Cheap Charlie that I am, I was like it is only 60 baht. But she ranted on about how you don't have to pay for parking at other malls and at Big C. I told her well this is not those places. Meanwhile there were about 10 cars behind us waiting to get out. That is the only way I got her to pass the money over. After that she promised to give me the money back when we got back to her room. She did not even want me to take her to Subway for lunch today saying it was too expensive and how she only uses 30 baht / day to eat.
She is the exact opposite of what farang say about Thai women and a farang's money. Now she just called me and insisted on driving me to the airport at 2 a.m. (when she has to be at work at 8 a.m.) so I would not have to pay a taxi. What the hell?

The smell is very strong and cannot be get rid off even after a few days.
However I do not think the discrimination is because of smell. Maybe it was true long time ago but nowadays most people use some cologne. I think that thai people consider themselves socially to be superior than Indians.
There are smelly, rude, unshaven, drunk people irrespective of which country they come from. It is a shame that even some hotels will not book a room if Indian Passport holder.
Clubs maybe doing this because they consider Indians are thrifty and they cannot make money. Unfortunately they get away with this because there are lots of tourists coming to Thailand and they are never short of customers.
This would not work in many other countries businesswise.

With the regular going rates (1, 000B for a taxi. 1,200B for a car, tolls INCLUDED). Make sure to leave just a partial down payment (30-50%). If you get any resistance check a few more KIOSKS, you might bump it an extra 100B or so if resistence seems universal.
Quite a few drivers are just looking to get back to Bangkok (with a PAYING CUSTOMER) after already driven somebody down the night before. They'd be happy to get an early jump on their return.
It seems to me there'd be no reason not to get the regular rate. Let us know what happens.

The day before my flight the lady I spent a few nights with called to arrange a taxi for the next morning, but in the morning the taxi actually went to another hotel. When I wasn't there the driver called my lady's phone (we spent the night together again) and we got him directed to the right place, but if he hadn't shown up I would have had to ask the lobby for a taxi at short notice. That probably would have been more expensive than the 1, 000 Baht I paid.

I've been to Phils and was planning on going to Thailand the first time this October.
Also, I won't mind the rain, but will there won't be a noticeable drop in quality, quantity due to rain?
