I'm very interested in having a private in-room hot tub that can fit 2-3. I think the penthouse rooms at the Vault may have that available but I'm not sure about the other hotels. Anyone have any recommendations for other GF hotels that would have this feature? I'm trying to keep it to $150 (4500 baht) max per day for a hotel.[/QUOTE]Hotels - You can agonize too much about hotels (at least I do). I've stayed in the best in BKK and some of the cheapest in the rural areas, and it's not the quality of the decor that you remember. Go for a mid-price hotel and you'll be perfectly satisfied.

If you get a hotel off the regular baht-bus route it can be worth hiring a bike / scooter for a few days. Gives you a bit of mobility in the daytime, although can be a bit of a liability at night-time if you're into bar hopping.

13 days IMHO is quite a long time in Pattaya, considering there is f*** all else to do there. You might want to give yourself 3 days back in BKK at the end, especially if you have discovered some of the massage places like Mango, etc. There are no places quite like them in Pattaya.

Otherwise good planning, and I would certainly agree with bringing cash, keeping it in a safe and changing it as and when needed.

Glad to hear you are dipping your toes into the Mongering waters of Thailand. Be prepared for the time of your life!

Personally I could spend MONTHS in Pattaya. But not staying IN Pattaya. Since you'll be there for a couple of weeks you may consider renting a condo on a weekly basis in Jomtien. It's a bit more quiet there and the beach is nice. And the action is a short 10 minute Baht Bus ride away.

And CHEAP! I hooked up a studio on Craigslist last year for 1000 BHT a night in a beautiful new building with balcony and sea view. The memories of banging the girls over the rail of that balcony still keep me warm at night.

Also if you get bored with Patts you an grab a girl and visit one of the gorgeous islands nearby for a few days. Koh Chang and Koh Samet are tropical paradises. But do bring a girl with as the pickings may be slim down there.

In some ways 13 days in Pattaya can be a lot and in some ways 13 days is not enough. Heck, if ya got the time and ya got the bucks. Why not longer?

We all hear of folks who rent an apartment for a whole month. It all depends on what kind of person you are (your interests) and what you want to do.
