It depends on what you consider "normal". Some of the girls you encounter will be runaways, some will be lowly paid girls in other industries looking for extra money, and most will be girls already holding some jobs in whatever red light area you are in or are close to. But in the end the thing to remember is these girls are there for one reason at a minimum, to go out on a date for a fee.
