Are there any hotels where you don't have to give your real details (NIC etc) when checking in?

My first experience was in a mini hotel where they asked me for my NIC and I told them I didn't have my card. They then looked at the girl I was with who said it was ok and I gave them a fake name and number then he let us in He also brought the girl a strip of condoms later so obviously this was a hotel for hookups. I'd prefer not to have a paper trail leading back to me whenever possible.

How is the indra regent in terms of cost (short term) and privacy.
