Sorry for being off topic but;
In the past I always took a direct flight from JFK to MDE on Avianca. It seems Avianca no longer flies directly from JFK to MDE. Actually it looks like none of the airlines offer a direct flight. I really liked Avianca but their prices have gone up quite a bit. Copa and Spirit offer the cheapest flights. I've heard a lot of bad things about Spirit so would rather not take a chance. Anybody have experience with Copa?
Also have a question about cellphones. I bought a cheap cellphone in Colombia that I use when I'm down there. Can I transfer the sim card from my colombian cellphone to my smartphone while I'm down there? Obviously it wouldn't be 4G, but would I be able to access the internet at a wifi hotspot? Do any cafes or restaurants offer free wifi?
Thanks in advance.
I've seen every high end cellphone here in the states, there in Colombia already my boy has a galaxy 2. Your cellphone must have open bands in other to accept the Colombian sim you can get that done in el centro for cheap but I wouldn't want them fucking around with mine. Be careful with gringos and smartphones. Any chicas would love to steal it and thugs would love to rob you.

High end smart phones are the new Gold Chains for Ladrones and thieves. They Love to snatch them. An average smart phone in the states would be SUPER big bucks and SUPER big status for a Colombian to have and would love to steal them from you. Think about it; Do you REALLY need a smart phone in Colombia? Are you one of those Jerks who has their noses buried in their smart phones 24/7? Do you not have the common sense or skills to speak spanish and use a map vs Google Maps and a translator app? Are you so hooked and unable to get around and surive with out the all POWERFUL SMART PHONE? You'd be on vacation so no need to worry about work; other than that I can't think of 1 legitimate reason you'd need a smart phone Colombia for a week. Up plug and enjoy the trip; your old boring life will be there when you get back.
Angry Birds, Words With Friends, ect. Will still bet there when you get back. Do you know what will not be there when you get back home? A country FULL of young, sexy, pretty Latina Women & Girl! If you have you attention tied up on the update for your tranlator app you might miss the "dime piece" walking into your life. Do yourself a favor and go buy any cell phone; it'll get the trick done! Ring, store chicas numbers, basic text, no body want to steal it from you. Tragedy averted.

Thanks in advance.
Yep no more direct flights from NYC to MDE. But there are a bunch that stop in Miami and FT L for around $500. Worse part of that is Miami customs. Have to go through and then check luggage etc in again. Is pain in the ass and means you have to have at least 90 minutes between flights.

Finkas
I heard that casas and strip clubs are closed on Holy Thursday and Good Friday. Is it true? Anyplace to go and find pros on these days? Are the girls in Mayorista working on these days? Easter Sunday in 2012 will be on April 8. So HT and GF will be on April 5 and 6? Thanks.
This is a perfect time to rent a Finka. Its not that expensive, it will run you about 50 USD a day. Get one with a nice size pool, get one of the locals to cook meals for like 20 USD a day. Have the fridge packed with beers and food. Invite 3 or four girls over and you will have a blast. All colombian women love going to finkas. If you haven't tried it this is the perfect time. You will have a blast.

Motivation
Good post Slamcity. Just about enough to motivate me for the next trip. Still very hard living in the USA to break your old boring habits

At any given time it can take forever to claim bags and get through customs. I arrived in Miami from Medellin a week ago today and I had a three hour layover, by the time I got to my gate they were already boarding, ridiculous. Most times 90 minutes will do it but once in a while you will miss your connection with that tight of a window.

Can you post a link or send me a PM where you can rent a finca for $50 during Christmas Feria. My Colombian friends rent a dumpy finca in Copacabana for 200k a night and that was the cheapest.

Yes I coverd that

I agree and I did address this in my original post about business being the only "legitimate" reason for NEEDING a smart phone. I still contend that you're (most people not you Mr. Manizales or anybody else specifically) better off keeping it simple for a number of reasons.
Pretty sure I spent an awesome hour with Jessica during our Halloween blowout two months ago. New Life is good value and have been there 4 times in my two trips over the last 9 months. If it was the Jessica that speaks a little English, suppose to be leaving for Germany soon and had a little milk kicking in her breasts, its the same Jessica. Great attitude! I do have pixs of her ass / tits and will try to post behind this but its on Monger Blackberry phone. Maybe we can get a Monger App for iPhone and Droid folks?
Thanks for report, have not logged on to the ISG or MDE board for awhile. I can't. It brings up the withdrawls and smell of hot paisas fills the air! Off to Santo Domingo next month for long weekend. Could not pass up the $159 RT w / taxes on Spirit. Sale is over but the mongering lives on!
Be Safe,
The Navys Fault
Sounds like it could be her. Her English was pretty limited. She didn't mention Germany and her breasts were rock solid but she did have a great attitude. Would love to see the pics you have. She's the best I've been with!
Cheers,
Matt

And yeah, not cheap.
$50- no way!

Smaller Finca rentals?

$50- no way!
Thanks for the lead Lmarcone. Do any of ya'll know of a company that does "smaller" finca rentals? Or like one that is a chopped up hotel where you can rent rooms and junk like that?
I stayed for a few days at this place and met some women and took them back to the room no problem. Also took advantage of the morning tours into the mountains and back in time for lunch and ready to hunt in the afternoon. The Colombia Jake package is a new concept that even for a guy returning like me is fun and made the experience new again! Check it out!

When I found out about ley seca I started asking around for the finkas. You would be surprised how many people have access to them. One of my freinds from san diego show took me to a lady she showed me what was available. She showed me several finkas on her computer. She quoted me at 150k for two days. When I got there the rooms were not all that but the pool was awsome. I'm talking about something you see in a movie. It had a huge statue of jesus crist that can be seen from miles around sort of like a miniture version of the statue in Rio. Since the finka was on top of a mountain it could be seen from long distances. The girls that came with me loved that spot, so insted of two days I stood four, and the lady brought it down to 120k per day.

Fincas
Hey Newyorkino, This is all very intriguing to me. I'm not totally clear about your price quoting but regardless, I like the sound of this type of adventure / option. I would like to know more details about your experience. I think I speak for many when I ask specifically about your female guests. Who, how many, from where? Did they want anything in return for spending the weekend? How far did you have to travel to get to your finca? I know a girl on FB, with her guy and girl friends (must have been at least 20 kids there) rented a finca and consequently I saw the the photos of the fun party weekend they all had enjoying the house and pool. Seems like the local mindset is that renting a finca is a mini vacation treat. Personally, I would do it different, with more girls, less guys, more alcohol and less clothes but hey, that's just me. Just sounds like an awesome weekend, if you can get a small group of sexy open minded individuals who appreciate the change of atmosphere.
